I don’t think you’re actually allowed, at least where I live. I come from Europe too and here you’re asked to finish your food and drink before getting to security. There is a water refill station but ou can’t take your original drinks because it could be considered poison. Also there is sometimes a cafe or shop to buy snacks or fill up on food before getting to the plane. So technically you are allowed food and drink but only water and snacks from a shop after security.
