My office/studio use to be a porch that the previous owner closed in. As a result the floor in that room leans to the south-east corner. My desk and some of my shelves thankfully have adjustable legs, but there are some shelves that I have to put wood pieces under so that they don't lean forward or to the side.

A pair of simple "L" brackets could be used to attach the back table to the wall and would stablize it and prevent things from getting knocked around.

Welp! Long time lurker! I wanted to let y’all know that you did it! While watching this video my partner and I were convinced that we needed a Rathskellers table and placed a deposit. Thank you for an awesome walkthrough of the table! Quick question that I don’t know if yall addressed in the video, as an avid coffee and tea drinker, I am curious if they have cup holders that work for cups/mugs. I see the “extra large” holders but I’m sus on whether those actually fit in there 🤔 TIA!

Nice space. For the hated rear table. If instability is the problem. Why not just stick some command strips on the back and stick it to the wall so it doesn't wobble around when bumped? It won't solve the problem of Jeff hitting the thing all the time but might keep some things from falling off of it due to the fact it isn't secured. You could always use a bracket too but that is a more permanent fixture and leaves holes in the walls. Command strips are pretty sturdy and can be removed later without damage if you don't want them later. Granted you will need enough coverage to withstand the stress of getting hit.

Great video. Looking into tables now as we build a new house and it is really confusing how to determine between a KS campaign for tables vs. ordering from someone like Rathskellars. I feel like the time between order and delivery in super unclear. I am struggling to determine when I should try to get a table because I can't tell when to order, how long it would take to receive it, when I would need to pay (KS vs. retail vs. downpayment systems they all seem to have) and just generally timing on buying a table is difficult. I feel like most people just decide based on what they want and get it whenever they get it, but we would want to time it with a move and that seems impossible. Any insight into the time frame between ordering and receiving from Rathskellars?

Honestly I would 100% reach out to them just to inquire on a question like that. They’re very communicative IMO. However, I would assume it won’t be super easy to get an exact delivery date. Give they are hand crafted, I would assume the timeline would be on the longer end and likely would be a “window of completion”. But the best solution is to just open a dialogue with the company and ask them these questions

It takes 9-12 months to get the table after you have ordered it. Rathskellers want you to pay full amount before they start making the table. First you pay a reservation cost, then you and a seller from rathskeller will discuss all options and add ons they also send you samples and some other goodies. When the order is approved by you, you pay the full amount. Then you wait, and now and then you might get some updates with pictures on where in the process you table is currently.

Hmm, honestly this comment is pretty problematic. I don’t think you should assume the “man” makes the money. It’s not the 1950s anymore. Not that I owe you a response, but Jamie works incredibly hard for her money, and actually is a much higher earner than I am. So if anything, do I lay awake at night thinking about how she spends her hard earned money? No, no I don’t.

I’m with team Jeff. Dump the table behind him! He hates it. It brings him negative joy! He can’t enjoy the space properly knowing as soon as he tries to get up he’s got to play a dexterity game he doesn’t want to be a part of. Have a heart Jamie!
