4:06 I'm in the same band as that particular guitarist. That recording session felt LONG. We had no idea what our work structure was going to be like, so we spent 2 hours of a 4 1/2 hour session setting up and sound-checking the drums, only to realize that our drummer took his cues off of the bass and guitars, so we didn't actually record any drums. I recorded all my bass parts to a click and - interesting fact - the producer asked me to play a somewhat different way than I usually would, so I did. Like a courteous musician. The guitarist (who sent these texts) then proceeded to spend ages going through his parts section by section (including the solos) until it was all to the click. It came as absolutely no surprise to me that the producer turned around a week later and said he no longer wanted to work with us. Both he and I were urging our guitarist not to rush everything, as rush jobs never sound good. Here's hoping he doesn't see this and hate me... I sent the screencap along to Glenn

I found it a bit more entertaining this way, particularly when also seeing the 'actors' and their reactions while reading them... Doesn't change the stupidity of the texts, just adds extra humor to what engineers and tech's have been dealing with for years on end even before 'texting' was invented ... ;-)

When he went to the counter and asked us to cover his 271,64 excl. VATS because he spent all his money on weed and we said no he started throwing a tantrum and then this happened. Guess we're looking for a new bass player, or a guitar player that's ballsey enough to take one for the team. Hit us up guys!"

Re: the drummers that bitch about changing their setup for recording... Instead of bitching about it, maybe practice with your kit set up in a "conducive to making great recordings" way. That way, even if you don't like it for regular play, you'll at least be familiar with how it feels. Or you may even find(as I did) that you'll come like it even better than your regular setup. Oh, but let's not push the boundaries of our abilities and what we're capable of, or anything! Sincerely, a drummer/budding sound engineer.

Good in the jam space DOES often mean good in the studio....the trouble is, defining what's actually "good" in the jam space. Its like the "but we're so good live" thing....Suuuuuuuuuure you are....Because while you are playing on stage you are in the best objective position to make those judgments right? "but we're so good in practice" and, "but we're so good live" is right up there with "the check is in the mail"

SpectreSoundStudios just wanted to come by and thank you again - you got me out of my amp modeler fugue state. Got me looking at amp heads. I didn't realize all these mini heads existed. (Probably a decent bedroom studio option?) The Orange Micro Terror. The Joyo banTamps, the Hotones (their Vulcan Five-o. Is supposed to be like a mini 5150) the Vox M50 lineup, Quilter 101, Bugera T5... almost too many options. Mini heads could make for an interesting episode if you feel like it
