Hey Eric, great reaction as always! YOKOYA, (Ooops sorry, I mean YOYOKA...lol. Minor mistake my friend. We all love YOYOKA, but no reason to be harsh when assisting you in the proper pronunciation) YOYOKA has at least 8 endorsement deals. Youngest ever with many of them, including Pearl Drums. She did a video of herself going to the factory and hand selecting each piece separately. Then they made it a "YOYOKA Signature Series". She has a lot of snares, which she will select specific ones for specific covers or venues, depending on the sound she wants to get out of her snare. She went to Wave Potter's (another Reactionist) house about 2 years ago and jammed with him in his home studio. He made a video showing the jam session and stated that she had tuned his kit while she was there, and it had never sounded that good. She has an amazing ear for that sort of thing and in fact at age 6 was already advising bands (that came to her house to practice) how to play songs better, and the band members said they tried it her way and she was right! Her father is an amazing sound engineer and taught her how to tune her kit. Ian Paice the original drummer from Deep Purple did a reaction to this cover and was simply amazed, saying he had seen many 40 year old drummers try to cover this song and they can't do it. As a result, she ended up doing a colab project with Ian and another drummer (Sina). RIght about the time this cover was released DrummerWorld notified her that she had been inducted to the "Drummerworld Top 500 Drummers" OF ALL TIME! Youngest ever at Age 11.

@@DrumAttic Of course. Love to share with people who are genuinely interested. Forgive me if I repeat things once in a while because I don't remember who I shared specific things with. Most of my comments are based around comments the reactors make during their reaction. You will find this sharing of info a common theme in the Japanese Female Band Fan community. I don't expect you to watch this necessarily, but I'll throw it out there so at least you know it exists. I commissioned a documentary on YOYOKA with Wave when I found out she was coming to Las Vegas (where I live). I gave him a bunch of ideas, then turned him loose and he did an awesome job on it, very professionally done, covering ages 0-12. It has 281K views. It is ranked #4 as most viewed on his channel. Of top 39, 38 are Alip Ba Ta....lol So it is up there. Has 3.5x the views of any other non Alip video on his channel. Anyway, I arranged with Wave to drop it an hour after their flight landed to ensure that they would not see it before I picked them up at the airport. Poor baby (YOYOKA) was so tired she fell asleep within 3 min of hitting the car seat...lol Then we watched it in my living room. Super cool experience. I got to see their first "reaction" live. YOYOKA loved it! Anyway thanks for all that you do! And thanks for listening!

Thanks for reacting to Yoyoka again, since this came out, she's moved to the US and is living in LA now and getting gigs around Hollywood and LA. She recently played at Tom Morello's mother's 100th birthday party with Jack Black and has been playing gigs at the Whisky.

Tom Morello's mother is 100? Tom Morello is SO OLD! When is that hypocritical fraudulent phony going to leave the music scene and the public and Yoyoka alone? Geez, after complaining non-stop about "The Machine" while BEING The Machine and reaping in millions complaining about the plight of the poor and demanding horrible illegal things of both the poor and fans of RATM, you'd think Tom would respect his fans at least, and stop his caterwauling and lyrical nonsense. If not them, then the "poor." If not his fans, or the "poor," them respect Yoyoka, or Tom himself, or his poor century-old mom swimming in the ocean of his green-back focused grift. If not the fans, the poor, Tom himself, Yoyoka, his mom, then at least respect me for being the one person in 3 that realize demanding all the benefits a rock star enjoys, while singing about the plight of the less fortunate, poorer people that had to shell out their taco-job money to pay for your luxurious (and your mom's) existence, and knock of the phony underprivileged upbringing cover story. Yeah, Tom, you empathize with the less fortunate. All your time at Harvard helped you with that. Your 50% Italian heritage brought the plight of people of color to your awareness. Of course, better than your empathy for me, or the poor, your fans, your mom, or Yoyoka, how come near zero to exactly zero of your performances were free for the audience to attend? THAT would have been much better than talking about the underprivileged bringing violence to the very system that made you unbelievably wealthy, and me unbelievably jealous of not just your fortune, but your ability to get a good table at your restaurant of choice any time you demanded it, and you did that a lot, you do this a lot, or so the Hollywood restaurant press reports. NEXT time your mother turns 100, an invite would be nice. I'd even settle for 101, or 102, just so long as where your mother lives isn't horribly far from where I live AND you provide free snacks and some kind of parking for my car. I don't want to just park it on the street and then have it stolen, or get my doors dinged. That's all I ask, snacks and good parking, and I'll let all the other stuff slide. I shouldn't, but I will, because that's how much of a better, if less rich, man that I am. Snacks. Parking. A short list.

Yeah, I'm not totally sure of that. She didn't play this ditty any of the times I saw her play in person. In fact, she didn't seem to duplicate hardly any tunes gig to gig. She's pretty darn versatile. More so than one might expect. More than most would predict. Certainly more than me, and I don't even play drums. She sure "showed' me who's boss. Not me.

If a drummer is not dancing on their throne something is wrong. You got to be feeling it. You must make the audience feel it. Iwas a head bobber beside the dancing on the throne. After 40 years touring and countless session hours. Tomorrow they are doing cervical spine surgery(neck)to fix the damage I caused. I share story to all young drummers make them feel it also but take care of yourself always. Sorry I got so wordy. I can't help myself. To all Brothers of The Drum. Have a blast and be well. Sticks

You now must watch Ian Paice's (Deep Purple drummer) reaction to this cover: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZoPce36fpNGfmaM And the big difference between Yoyoka and other YT drummers is that she always records in one take, and she also plays almost all the covers live.
@salvadormonella8953
@salvadormonella8953 8 ай бұрын
You're initial is "P." That's funny. Even funnier than my initial, "S." I followed your "must" of watching Ian Paice's watching of Yoyoka even before you made it a must. I'm not sure what I get for performing this duty, but I will upgrade your mental paradigm a smidge. 1) Yoyoka doesn't always play in one take. She doesn't always NOT play in one take, but I've seen her outtakes (well, outtake. AN outtake.) and I know she at a minimum listens to the tune before trying to play the drum part, and I'll wager she might even try to play it before she does play it. I'm not sure what you mean by "playing" "almost" "all the covers" "live." I mean, she's not playing them for you right now. She video records them, so they were live right then, but they aren't right now. It would be impossible to do. NOBODY can play every drum part to every song they know all at the same time, live. You wouldn't hear any percussion, it would just be an ocean of very loud white noise. So, I'm not sure where you get all this "live" stuff from. I've seen Yoyoka play "live," and she played stuff she knew, including stuff she played before. I'm not sure how anyone would do it differently. Even that drummer that pretends to hear a tune once to memorize the drum bits and then plays it on video cheats a bit and listens while no-one is video recording him, and that's his specialty. Yoyoka doesn't even pretend to never have listened to a drum piece before playing it.

@@DrumAttic yeah, that makes sense. A total rarity these days: a seemingly truthful statement that flows cohesively logically. Something to be cherished. It is so unusual I’m having a little trouble embracing it fully it is so unexpected. I’ll just bask in its glow for a while before I get it tattooed on my bicep, or maybe have a needlepoint of the phrase made. Either way, I’m not going to let this seemingly banal statement exit my consciousness.

You mentioned energy to spare. You've already dipped into the 12th Birthday gig. 10 hard rock numbers recorded single takes in a bit of a day with hardly any rehearsal. She's been gigging for so long she knows exactly how to pace herself. Thank you for your reaction. Consider her collaboration with Ken Ocada. A jazz fusion album of 7 numbers 4 musicians, Bass, Sax, Guitar and Yoyoka. Recorded in one day at the end of Feb this year.

Drum "Attic." Tee, hee. That's funny. I get it. "Attic." Tee-hee. Yoyoka rocks. She rocks HARD. For anyone that doesn't KNOW she is a HARD ROCKER, they will find this out as soon as they see her. She's been rocking drums for 11 years. That may not sound like much, but considering she's been playing for 80%+ of her existence on the planet, it brings a bit of real-ness to the reality that is "Yoyoka." I'm not sure she would even care you mispronounced her name. I don't know her, but I've met her a few times, and the impression I get is that it wouldn't matter to her. She has trouble with pronunciation of certain words, and so I think she'd let it slide. $0.02. Yes, no shoes. Only children wear shoes when they play drums. REAL drummers eschew shoes for the tactile bond the not-shoe provides. Yoyoka is a REAL drummer. You only have to see her play 1X to realize that. Mr. Attic, I suspect you're realizing that now. I am watching you evolve as a drummer, and a human, that too, in near real time. Darwin's theory on display via video. Mr. Attic, I suspect you never even knew Darwin, as I'm sure Darwin never knew you. It is mere poetry to remind you of MY alliteration, just as Yoyoka is reminding you what it means to be a drummer, or a listener-to of drummers, or someone that listens to drummers while watching them play on video while making a video yourself. A hall-of-mirrors effect via video, philosophically, not actually. "Smoking" excites you? Seriously, the sooner we wean kids of cigarettes the sooner they'll stop dying of lung cancer, and the sooner they'll stop wearing shoes too. There's a lot less reason to wear shoes if you aren't always trying to dodge smoldering cigarettes butts, so celebrate Yoyoka's lack of shoes, lack of a tobacco habit (OTHER than dip), and her ability to rock harder than any other barely 14 year old female Japanese drummer I've ever met.
