Way back before Link Monsters made them kinda playable, I played a Noble Knights deck for a while, and I remember one particular time where I made an insane comeback, set up all my win conditions, combo'd everything perfectly and hard called every single move my opponent made for several turns... And then I lost anyways because the deck was trash, and I just couldn't kill them before they burnt through all my resources. But still, it felt fucking good, more than most of the duels I actually did win. Sometimes it's just sick plays and comeback moments that really stick to you even if you flounder and get your ass handed to you.

gagagigo, freed and marauding captain is such a great piece of lore. Freed and gagagigo were enemies and rivals by nature but marauding captain believed in gagagigo, his friend so much he used his body as a shield.

Most yugioh card stories are goated, let's be real. Gagagigo and Marauding Captain is a classic for sure, but Buster Blader and his loyal pet/freakin family member in Buster Whelp is just SAD, but SO GOOD. The Branded Saga is goated too and could be its own anime. Purrely is just freakin adorable and is a wholesome fusion of Eevee and Hamtaro. Visas, Kashtira and the Tears goes hard. And the World Legacy Saga is just as grand and epic as the Branded Saga. And there's connected lore between Time Thieves, S-Force, IP Masquerina and a couple others that were revealed in Master Duel's newest solo gate. The Vendread lore goes way too hard for its own good, and is basically a zombie Batman story. And of course, our favorite waifu in Raye and her Sky Striker battle suits. A bit unrelated, but I have a conspiracy theory. I believe the Dragon Rulers, you know, Blaster, Tempest, Redox and Tidal, aren't the only dragon rulers out there. There exists two more. Felgrand and Diabolos. More specifically, their upgraded forms, Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand and Darkest Diabolos Lord of the Lair. Each one represents all 6 core attributes of the game, and the only one left is Divine. I believe all 6 dragons are a part of some kind of connected lore, but I have no proof of it. Plus, if we get another Divine attributed monster, it could be a final dragon ruler to complete the set.

Wait, have we read the same thing? O_O The saga pre-Shaddoll was excellent. The Shaddoll god was just continuous "I've become more god than you!" "Gotcha! Now I have become even more god than you!" with absolutely no build up each time. Damn, at some point the main villain assumes God Form #6, and the second right later, without the heros counterattacking or even a fight or anything, she immediatly assumes God Form #7!!! Not to mention all of the legacy characters that got namedropped just to do absolutely nothing and the consequences from the previous war just getting retconned at the end.

@@r3zaful Aside the fact that you're using "god" as in "strictly part of the god race", I'm using it as in "divine being/being with god-like powers"... I still stand by what I said. The final battle of Duel Terminal 3 is basically Tierra and the good guys that keep upping each other with "look, I now absorbed this other character/gained this other primordial power, now I'm even more of a god than I was before!". Damn, at one point Tierra does something that transforms her, and the very first action she does after that is _transform yet again,_ even though the heroes had none absolutely nothing that would justify the need for that! Let's be honest, Duel Terminal 3 is just a fanfictiony clusterfuck. The characters' actions have no meaning because each time they manage to do something it gets retroactively foiled (every single time), there's no character growth from anybody, the events are all the same and don't even make sense, and it even ruins the worldbuilding established by the previous series. We don't even get the pleasure of watching beloved characters take part in the story, since they only get namedropped for fanservice points without actually doing nothing (and a few get outright disrespected, such as Ophiucus and Lapis). It's just bad.

I like to add - lore of the tyrant king and what it takes to start an uprising and over throwing it. A while ago we even got a pharaoh variant of it. - lore of both dark magician and one of the blue eyes dragons. That was sad and once they turned their spirits into monsters is when we got more lore over a decade later with mausoleum of white and magician girls and Endymion

There is a fan-made lore, or theory. After the incident with the angel that later would become Condemned Darklord. God (the old man in the Solemn cards) made all the Counter fairies synthetic or from crystals, that way they can't rebel against him.

My favorite lore is Duel Terminal. A bunch of archetypes are at war with each other for multiple paragraphs, and the deeper you go the more you question "How is this going to resolve? How is this all going to end??" and then Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier shows up and freezes the planet over and everyone dies, the end.

I like how Lore in 2023 devolves to people, turned dragons, clash with each other for a final bout. Meanwhile old lore has a wide array of characters going about on their own interconnected stories. Warrior Dai trying to woo or fight D.D. Warrior Lady, Gigagigo wanting to fight Marauding Captain's boss but is Captain's friend. Inpachi combusting from pure rage at the destruction of his home, ultimately becoming a tool for a mad scientist. Goblin Attack Force going around doing odd jobs, Maronne the dog being lost, dying, and ultimately finding a family within the Skull Servants.
