You'd pretty much run Hane-Hane if you wanted more Wall of Illusion effects, even though it was a worse version overall. The one plus Hane-Hane had was if they weren't attacking into it and you managed to flip summon it. But then that would rely having it on the field for a turn and surviving.

I think the odd stat line is just a side effect of the specific way it was portrayed in the anime. It was under a 30% ATK/DEF boost, and all the cards used in that one specific duel had very jank stat lines so that after boosting they were approximating the stats they were shown with in the manga. Some were tweaked a little in terms of the final number they approximate, but the concept is the same. It's boosted stats were 1794/2509, so basically 1800/2500. (Actually 500 DEF stronger than manga) The other cards this impacted: Castle of Dark Illusion 920/1930 -> 1196/2509 ≈ 1200/2500 (exact to manga) Dark Chimera 1610/1460 -> 2093/1898 ≈ 2100/1900 (exact to manga) Barox 1380/1530 -> 1794/1989 ≈ 1800/2000 (200 DEF weaker than manga) King of Yamimakai 2000/1530 -> 2600/1989 ≈ 2600/2000 (300 DEF weaker than manga) I guess this is because all these cards had normal stats in the manga, but by this point in the anime they already introduced the field effect thing that night = boosted fiends, so to make them kinda close they either had to pretend that field effects don't matter, or that the cards had weirdo stat lines. Fun fact, Yugi literally kills the guy from that duel in the manga. Presumably for ruining card consistency.

I think at the very beginning yugioh was supposed to be played with pretty much only normal monsters to deal damage and fight and all of the special stuff would come from the spells and traps with just a few effect monster exeptions, with pretty straight forward effects (as we saw in those packs) and the biggest plays would be summoning big fusion monsters but its turned into a game where pretty much everything happens through effect monsters and spells just aid you in the process with traps almost not being played anymore xD. I wish we had a yu gi oh card game like the slow intended yugioh, would be kinda fun. Even though i love 5ds and the synchro era as much as the next guy i think its lost most of its yugioh charm after the first season and quickly turned into something different

You don't see as many traps in the decks, but most decks have a few traps they play. I am not trying argue against your opinion here. Honestly, the biggest confusion I can see happening with Wicked Worm Beast is not the thing returning itself to the Hand from the Graveyard (Card Effects generally don't trigger from the Graveyard unless specifically stated otherwise, especially with a card that old), but rather the wrongful use of the term "Your". In the original printing, it says: "This card is returned to your hand at the end of your turn." Not the owner's hand, /your/ hand. And since card effects should be read from the perspective of the controller (which also affects a certain card-drawing card whose name I can't remember which shifts control halfway through its effect, meaning the opponent is the one who gets to draw, not you), that means that if you somehow managed to snatch control of an opponent's Wicked Worm Beast, it would return to /your/ hand at your turn's End Phase.

Effect Monster at Common in old Yugioh: "If this Attack Position card is changed to face-up Defense Position: Shuffle your Deck." Effect Monster at Common in more recent Yugioh: "Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned by its own effect. If a monster(s) you control is destroyed by an opponent's attack or card effect: You can pay half your LP; Special Summon this card from your hand. Cannot be targeted by card effects. If this card attacks an opponent's monster, during the Damage Step only, negate the effects of that monster while it is face-up on the field (but its effects can still be activated), also its ATK becomes half its original ATK. Once per battle, if this card battles, during damage calculation (Quick Effect): You can make this card's ATK become equal to the highest original ATK on the field (your choice, if tied)."

What’s sad about reaper is that there is only three trap cards in the LOB format, none of which you could effectively use reaper on. Two-Pronged Attack was shit. So no one played. Dragon Capture Jar might have been halfway decent if not for the lack of good dragons. As is no one played that either. The last one was Trap Hole, which was played, but reaper actually has enough atk that trap hole can destroy it. So if you flip summon reaper and target trap hole, they would just chain it to destroy your reaper. Even if you thought you were being clever by setting Reaper and waiting for an opponent’s attack to flip it up, your opponent would see that coming, as what the hell else would you be tribute setting in this format. When the starter decks came out, it finally had some cards it could force in waboku and reinforcements, but trap master then exists so you wouldn’t bother with reaper anyway.

It was good, but I think Man-Eater was better because destroying a level 5 was even better. Yes, your opponent could monster reborn it, but so could you, and at the time Premature Burial and Call of the Haunted didn't exist I believe. Wall of Illusion was better than both though.

Ahh Reaper of the Cards... One of the coolest cards with an oddly high amount of relevant lore attributed to it... and it is terrible and to my knowledge they never even attempted to retrain it. (Though on the plus side Skull Servant got relevant play... At least more play than Shine Ball did)

Lol I play 7 normal monsters in my favorite deck (world chalice) and I don't mind to draw them

Man Eater Bug's original text is much funnier though: FLIP: Destroys 1 monster on the field (REGARDLESS OF POSITION).

They should have made 2 similar cards that only targeted attack or defense position monster.

Who else just reads and makes comments if you have short ads playing?
Ok, you clarified the wicked worm beast, for that I say thank you. Now please explain pot of greed. I can't seem to figure it out. It just is too confusing. I don't know why konami thought it would be a good idea to make a card that confusing in a children's card game. After that, can you show how it is suppose to work?

Yeah early fusion summoning was total garbage... Even "Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon" (which to my knowledge took FOREVER to make it West Side) was never summoned via fusion summoning. . The big issue is Konami had NOOO idea how to balance fusion summoning, so carting around useless monsters for the sake of a summon that wasn't even good was a serious issue (Flame Swordsmen was actually one of the BETTER fusions... just to tell you how busted it was)... AND they intentionally printed bad cards (Early Yugioh was like 95% unusable trash cards).
