I would like to mention that Appointer of the Red Lotus is not the only card that counters Ra Sphere Mode but Mask of Restrict can counter it too.. and that card was more relevant in the previous format with all those thunder dragons since no tributes are allowed.

Pretty good list, nothing that I necessarily disagree with, but there are 1-2 cards I would replace since it is a top 10 list. You've got 4/5 that I've mentioned on my top 5 list though.

Lightning storm will see lots of play there’s no doubt, but honestly I don’t think it’ll be as big of a blowout as people think. Take altergeist for example. The deck has A LOT of outs to the card. It can side in secret village of the spellcasters, you can side in waking the dragon, plus solemn judgement is at 3 copies. The deck just has so much utility to deal with lightning storm. And the fact that those cards listed don’t take away from the strategy of the deck makes it even better.

I’ve main decked appointer of the red lotus in my six sams. I draw nearly my entire deck even without bamboo swords, so setting 1-2 lotus means my opponent has to play through a (at minimum) 7 interruptions, or (at max), 10 disruptions, plus a floodgate, and with only a few cards in their hand. Nothing makes you feel great like triple lotus taking half your opponents hand away

I'm always really wary of Nibiru just because it's so much riskier than sphere mode or even lava golem (don't bother with lava golem unless you don't need a normal summon in your deck). Apollousa is everywhere right now, and Millennium-Eyes also shuts it down.

That's the thing I don't like so much about TCG/OCG mask of restrict, the removed the aspect which was a big plot point in the manga. The original idea was that your opponent could not tribute their own monsters (but could tribute yours).

Which is now the correct effect / ruling for appointer of the red lotus? Konami revised the card effect text in an official ruling, which makes a huge difference. From the written ruling and revised text for this card, the card which was banished from the hand will not return in the same turns end phase, but in the opponents end phase 2 turns later.

Lightning Storm Tip: Against Lunalight, their typical board literally cannot answer a Raigeki, as there is zero protection or spell/trap negation available. If you're playing against the Time Thief build they have a chance of being able to answer it if they draw one of their four cards that access the counter trap, but it's still unlikely. Side in Lightning Storm against Lunalights to steal some free wins :)

Unfortunately a lot of spyral lists I've seen go into anti-spell fragrance so stop you from using dark ruler. I guess for going second a quick-play back row removal like twin twisters would be best? Or I guess I could just go for sphere mode and call it a day

Two reasons: -Knightmare gryphon sets the spell/trap to your field but you cannot activate it on the same turn. RIP normal spell cards -Opponent could draw into sphere mode as their 6th card, would need something more reactive than a normal spell

Lava is the easier one to drop, so it's live against more things, but as stated, sphere mode is a normal summon, so it avoids special summon restrictors.

Gazelle and the spyral field spell tend to be the best two to hit. They're limited to one, and losing them absolutely hurts the deck. You can also hit quick-fix, or spinny/roar. They are fairly powerful cards that they toss into grave and revive very often. You can slap them down pretty easily with crow like that.

Spyral, priority: Spyral Master Plan Spyral Quik Fix Or else if they wanna recover from GY, hit that card Salad, priority: Salamangreat Roar Salamangreat Rage Gazelle (if they will recover this card) Spinny Jack Jaguar Falco Foxy Any other target in GY for recovery for Salad Sunwolf or Salad Continous spell Ash Blossom and Joyous Spring (This card is often recycled)
