Don't over clench, or if 'clenching is causing issues simply replace it with the word 'raising'. there is a sweet spot when doing the exploration, it will raise the larynx while not being uncomfortable, experiment! Tread gently and i really hope this video helps!
@alek4ever6469 ай бұрын
After a couple days of trying I have come to realize that while I already had some level of Larynx control already (having tried to imitate women even before my egg cracked as I like to sing along to feminine songs), I seem to really struggle a bit with these excercises. Well most of them. The humming one is super easy. I can basically skip the chest and mouth and hit the nose tone right away if I try. But its been 2 days, obviously too early to call it quits. But luckily, unlike the friend that smashed my eggshell with a brick, I already had quite high resonance for a guy to begin with. I just also have a quite low pitched one too. xD

I'd like to ask you something Claire. Is it possible to get this video split up into smaller fragments so it becomes easier for my transfem friend to digest (and possibly be good for when I am out and about). I have no issues with jumping back and fourth, but they are hit hard by their ADHD so it becomes a struggle for them to pay attention unless it's direct on the point and short. Even if only as downloadable format would be great. You have the right to refuse of course, but in that case I hope I have your blessing to cut the video up myself.

A little late, but on top of exercises like this a good tool to help you practice and keep track would be a piano app on your phone. Get used to play scales (C major because it's basic but any other scale will do too), hearing notes and reproducing them. When you find your comfortable range, sing from a middle note to maximum note following the scale and then try to go over you range. Whether you use this to go higher or lower, it's good training

I myself only became, at least accepting, (there have been many small signs now that I think back to my childhood) Myself as trans when I got my Quest 2 for Christmas and jumped into a female avatar like I always picked in video games, but got some weird reactions when they heard my voice, but it was more fun for me than picking a male avatar, and then I learned about the Trans Academy VR Chat world, and I had never interacted with Trans People before and was very uneducated on what it's all about, but I was absolutely amazed by how nice everyone is, and it was a place where I didn't get any weird looks and was invited to places, finally accepted. Anyways, I am a person who only recently realized that I was trans, but I very much agree with your statement about how they are nice, and I feel so much happier now that I'm not bound to acting in only professional expected ways and can truly express myself instead of having to bind myself with chains of what's expected of me. I can sound cute, I can look cute, I can be a girl! I identify as Gender fluid since I still need to have a mask I can put up since I'm in a transphobic community, but discovering and exploring this other side of myself that I have had all along is very exciting! Please please please do NOT tense muscles intentionally ever; this can and likely will lead to primary muscle tension dysphonia (MTD) which can completely cripple a voice and require years of careful training to fix. I'm a voice teacher and have spent the last 4 years doing little other than try to fix these issues people face when voice training. Unfortunately it's super common due to still lingering assumptions about being able to physically move stuff around in the throat. Please trust me on this, if you can feel a muscle flexing, you're doing it wrong, and developing bad habits. If you get fatigue after less than 30min of speaking, tell your doctor and/or see an SLP as they're the only ones allowed to diagnose you with MTD. SOVTEs e.g. lip trills are good as a way to reduce the effect, but they can't fix or prevent it, only not tensing in the first place can.

I've trained on and off for years. Enough to seem fem but not enough to "pass." I've even had appointments with speech therapists before. This is the *ONLY* source I ever *EVER* found that's explained resonance to me in a way that I can understand. Just doing one round of these exercises helped my voice immeasurably, quite possibly a life-changing video.

Don’t know what drew me to this video, but it was kinda fun trying to practice making a higher pitch voice, especially since I have a naturally very deep voice that makes it easy to imitate Corpse. My mouth and throat are very tired now though lol. Probably straining too much. Keep up the good work. I’m sure this video will help out a lot of trans girls feel more themselves. Gonna send it to my friend who started transitioning a couple months back.

As a vocalist, I found this really helpful, since it allowed me to implement the skills id already learned into making my voice more passable, and while it still has a long way to go this helped a lot (I meaning I guess being a vocalist who is taught to control their tone definitely helps in the long run, especially when you need to swap into a male voice if acting sometimes)

This seems like a great guide! For everyone trying to practice girl voice, I believe in you 💚 I just wanna mention that, for some people, especially with ADHD, self-discipline doesn't work. Discipline is probably part of your motivation (which encompasses all the reasons why you do things), and if so, that's great! However, others like me have to find their motivation elsewhere, and telling them they just need discipline might lead to self-esteem issues and depression when it inevitably doesn't work. I hope that makes sense. Thank you for the work you do!

bro, this was the most complete tutorial on yt about this. You abranged so many details! I think the most important part was that it has (almost) nothing to do with the pitch, and mostly with the resonance and nasalization of the sounds. Also, good choice to talk about the key phrases to resume progress. Good work, after all.

Seeing this video really made me emotional. It's so beautiful that transgender folks have a community where they can help and support each others. I felt so lonely when I started to transition and the more I partake in the community, the more I feel overwhelmed with beautiful emotions. (That might be because I started HRT last month lol). It took me this long to realize I already knew how to do girl voice I was just too stupid to realize sooner that girl voice is the same voice I would use to voice child characters when I played with my toys as a kid. You go high, but not so high as to strain your vocal cords, and then you practice talking like that on a normal basis and boom. Child voice has become girl voice. Its also the same thing but backwards that I did as a teen to deepen my voice. Weird that 10 years ago I was so desperate to deepen my voice faster and now I'm trying to lighten it again. 😂

Thanks for making this video. I don't really have many resources locally, so just figuring out what exercises I'm supposed to be doing is such a huge help. Me hitting that siren noise and realizing I sound just like a tornado siren? (I live in the great plains, it's the song of my people so I know it well) My brain instantly pulled one of those freakouts cats have where they get scared and try fluff up, arch their backs, do a 180 turn, leap for the ceiling, and run away... all at once. Made me lmao afterwards. But seriously! I've been subbed here for a while now, I've been pursuing transition (mtf) for a year now, and finally yesterday: after delays getting the right doctor, right clinic, and my pharmacy having my spiro ready, I just took my first dose of T blocker yesterday. I normally don't tear up when I take pills but I did that time. Still, knowing I had to get on the ball about training early - because I know I'll have days where I just say "Fuck it, too (blank) to do it today", maybe too often (stupid adhd) - if I want to be ready I need a head-start. Also because I've heard many say they wished they had started earlier - heard loud and clear! And TA DA this magic video pops out today, right when I was ready to go! Thank you so much for this, and thanks for all your great videos and shorts. I really can't thank you enough, and while I can't promise I'll have a lot of food ready for you when the next meme video appears (I'm usually broke lol), I can promise I'll try. For now, back to the video that's teaching me how to hum like a tornado siren... 😅🧡
