Join us (Keenan & Ashley) and our two dogs, on this wild journey down the Nisutlin River, Yukon Territory! The adventure starts on the road in Ontario, as we drive across Canada and make our way to the Yukon via the famous Alaska Highway!
Expecting a quiet, relaxing paddle to ease ourselves into our summer Yukon adventure, we face high winds, ferocious bugs, and washed out camps on the Nisutlin.
Lots of wildlife to see in this film! We hope you enjoy!
Be sure to like, subscribe, and share if you enjoy this video! Plenty more to come!

Spectacular shots, much enjoyed. I really appreciate your dogs (both with a lovely demeanour) and at the same time appreciate how your vids are not *about* the dogs. It would be easy to do, but you just sprinkle them in nicely. You're a great couple pumping great content---keep it coming! Glad to see you use the magnum for protection in the Yukon, just remember to keep those bowls clean!

I drove the Alcan in January 2009 . I’m from Arkansas and had never seen anything like that. White out conditions and we drove 20 mph nearly the entire way. We almost named our daughter Teslin. We went through Revel Stoke and that was an amazing stop. We got stuck in White Horse at the Walmart during a blizzard and slept in our truck over night in the parking lot. It was -58 degrees and like 4’ of snow fell on us. It was a rough nite but we had prepared best we could. My wife and 8 year old son and I. We drove from Arkansas to Anchorage where we lived for 6 months. So much more to our story but this video brought back so many memories. Thanks Best KZbin video I have ever watched. Loved the river adventure In my opinion, VERY WELL PUT TOGETHER SHOW

What a great film and trip! You guys are addictive and inspirational. Hope to visit the Yukon again next summer. I was last there the summer of 1978 in the Cassiar and Mackenzie Mountain areas prospecting for a small exploration company. Lots of walking and bugs even at higher elevations. Only near a lake once and caught some grayling with a Ronco Pocket Fisherman. Looking forward to future docs as they truly are.

I sure did and have about 500 kodachrome slides to document that summer and some enlargements. Hope to digitize over the winter with a scanner I recently purchased. Was flown to different alpine areas in a Bell47 piston helicopter every week or so for geological mapping, take rock samples, silt samples in creeks etc., Was starting point to a 30+ year career in environmental protection with many companies. Now retired living in North part of Ottawa Valley.

Nice video! I did that same canoe trip with my parents in the early 1970's when I was 8 years old. We lived not too far away in a cabin that my dad built on the shore of Morely Bay. I like the scene where you show the bear spray. There was no such thing back then, so for bear deterrent, my dad kept his "grocery getter"--a loaded 30.06 that he used to harvest moose off the land for us to eat.

@@CanoeTheNorth Hello! Yes I have a pretty big summer lined up. Mostly in the home province of Ontario. But I have big plans to hopefully go to Thailand in the fall! Hey I hope this isn't to weird but I am reaching out to a few of my favorite KZbin paddlers to see if anyone would like to take a greenhorn such as myself along on a trip and show me the ways of the paddle lol. I have been obsessed with getting into canoe tripping for the last few years. I do have some experience but still very much a rookie. Don't worry I have no expectations but I figured you never know if you don't ask. Either way guys keep being awesome! And Happy Holidays to both of you.

@@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures Hey Dean. Wow.. Planning to head to Thailand. That would be a cool trip. Sounds awesome. We are not opposed to doing something I just have no idea if we will be around or what we will be up too. We have a tonne of big trips planned as soon as the ice comes off as well as a bunch of personal stuff to take care of. Not trying to brush you off just cant commit to anything. Hope you understand Dean.

And hopefully I can get a couple canoe trips in amongst the riding. That way if we ever do hook up I won' t be such a rookie lol. Stay safe my friends. Cheers

I am just 10 minutes in and I do thoroughly approve. I too am a believer in a large canoe. I own a shameful number of canoes,, but my two expedition canoes are a 20' Old Town TripperXL and a 20' canoe built ror me by Clipper,, a MacKenzie 20. Laughing,,, the next canoe I want is the Miramichi by Esquif Fair amount of North Water gear (full spray deck with skirts) My trip this year was a short one , 2 weeks, with 4 friends, Green River in Utah. I intend to do the Whitehorse to Dawson,, or farther to the bridge near Talkeetna ? Which is why I went looking for your video. Back to the show.

@@CanoeTheNorth My favourites over the last few years have been the Colorado and the Green Rivers. The big canoes, particularly for me, running solo, full spray deck and skirt, a 20' floats high and light, I have come to love white water. Can you suggest a river guide (book) for the Yukon? Miles, towns, rapids, best camps, waterproof,,, I would have to up my tent and netting for the Yukon. I often sleep cowboy in Utah, Arizona, ground cloth and blanket,,, Oh,, and gotta have my two or three pillows,, such a whuss. Can't do that up there.

@Sailor376also www.yukonbooks.com/shop/customer/product.php?productid=2818&cat=57&page=1 this is the guidebook basically everyone up there uses. It’s good all the info you will need. There really isn’t any whitewater on the whole river. The five finger rapids are more or less a few good size waves to navigate.

@@CanoeTheNorth I may still do it. I like the peace and serenity of being far from lights. I don't travel every day,, love layover days,, read, eat bad food, sit and watch what ever animal is out and busy. And I avoid, wind or storm days,, no particular schedule if that can be arranged. Thank you for the link. I'll get right on it.

Nice video, and a fancy equipment you have I must say. Also the use of a new technology that did not exist yet, when I used to hang around in that part of the country 44 years ago. At the Sidney Lake by the Canol Road I had a little misunderstanding with the grizzly bear, but the lady luck was nice to me. That country by the Nisutlin River up to Quiet Lake is very bad regarding the mosquitoes, especially in June and the early July. The strong wind keeps them a bit away some days. The next time when you go to Yukon try the Hyland River. There are some nasty rapids on the river, but also a long stretches of quiet water, excellent fishing, and on some bars one can pan for a gold.

Hi Freddie. Sounds like you have had some amazing adventures! A couple years ago we drove the Nahanni range road and followed beside the Hyland river. We will have to do a little more research. It looks like a beautiful river to paddle. Thanks very much for the comment and river suggestion. Always love researching that sort of thing during the winter.
