I have always admired her as a pianist. She does full justice to whatever she plays.
She played that at concert in Warsaw filharmonic at 01.03.2023 and get standing ovation. I guess it was even better that was recorded in this video and I was lucky enough to watch it live :)

Thanks to the Polish government for the great work undertaken by the Chopin Institute. Poland gave us Chopin, and for that, we are greatly indebted. Enjoyable performance of a piece that I am becoming increasingly interested in.

"She makes the piano breathe"; "She makes it sing"; "She makes music live". Such opinions were expressed after the Competition. I would add: She discovers and opens new depths and dimentions in every piece - from Bach to Prokofiev. Metaphysics? No doubt for me!!

I absolutely love what Yuli has done with this!!! NOTE: I play and that is one of my worst tendencies: to NOT miss a beat when I flub something so it is nice to see Yuli handle it nicely. Lang Lang didn't miss a beat when playing an iconic Liszt Hungarian Dance (Rhapsody?) on a late night TV show and hit perfectly the _wrong note_ in what is perhaps the key note in that famous melody Worst error ever from a pro. It cannot be found on youtube. The entire country of China is probably 24 hour alert to take down any posting of this performance. I happen to still have it on my DVR. I need to Xfer it to PC. I have the greatest respect for LL but it is reassuring to know that he too, is human.

People who mainly hap on about the. 0.001 percent of wrong notes should listen to computerised midi instead. The judges are experienced enough to listen for what is good, and not how you can carbon copy recordings. The LH octaves part is one of the best I've ever heard.. It's meant to be the cantering of horses, not a demonstration of fury, which it often sounds like.

don't like the bashing, or the piece too much. The disjointedness. She makes mistakes in alot of her playing in this competition. I noticed alot of mistakes especially in the 3rd round when she performed Opus 27 no 2. I don't think that this Nocturne is really considered virtuostic is it? So, one would assume playing of it would be flawless. I really liked her playing on the first concerto.

Of course, its probably the 2nd hardest nocturne. Virtuosistic not for speed, but for phrasing.

I love dear Yuliana, but this is not up to her standards. It is a rather surprisingly immature performance; there is little creatively here, no nuance of phrasing, and somewhat robotic, I'm sorry to say. I think, however, as she matures so will the her performance of this piece.
@ibsjy504 жыл бұрын
What the F ? I find her performance so great really, I never listened to her before so I cannot tell if it’s her standards or but excuse me robotic playing etc.. ????? How ?! I listened to the bunch of pianist playing this piece on ytb and she stands out for me like her playing, despite a few mistakes, sounds so fresh and special.

Honestly, I feel like she would win simply because there was serious lack of talent that year....

@chibaz88826 жыл бұрын
Really? That was the year of such giants as Daniil Trifonov and Ingolf Wunder who were miles better and now have incredible careers. Daniil is one of the most in-demand young pianists today (probably even more than Seong-Jin Cho) and Ingolf just casually orchestrated Chopin's Allegro from the unfinished 3rd piano concerto. Yulianna is already half-forgotten.
@equilibrio8233 жыл бұрын
Ingolf Wunder has a lot of talent. He should have won that competition. He was the best by far. Search for his interpretation of polonaise fantasie. Simply wonderful
@LazlosPlane5 жыл бұрын
Surprisingly, not among her best work. Not enough breathing in the music. ...far too "mechanical." Also her tone is more monotonous here than I've heard her anywhere else. Is it offensive to say that this music is too "masculine," for her at least at this age?
