Good experiment. Well done mate. I don't use any vegetable oil or seed oils. I put the bacon in a cold pan on medium heat and let the bacon fat render, add a small amount of beef dripping, take the bacon out and fry two slices of bread in the pan and then put the bacon back in between the fried bread. 👍🏻

Happy Saturday Gareth, your quite right. Mass catering, fried bread, straight into a deep chip fryer or maybe a bratt pan(?). Nothing is made worse by adding butter to it 😊😋👏🧈Looked fantastic as it was lifted from pan to plate. Really needed to be topped off with an egg, fried in the same oil, then crumble the bacon fat on top. Magic. You can use the crusts, chopped and fried to make croutons. But to the bloke who says ". he can't cook " Garth, mate I'll raise my old chefs hat🧑🍳 bloomin'well done. Have a lovely weekend and see you in the next video Allan&Family 😊PS I take it, lacking an Army route march, you leapt on your bike and treadmill in the garage & worked it all off🚲😳😂

I've said it before. I really love a good fry up for Sunday Breakfast. I am old school and cooking oil isn't on my list. I use plain old Lard, ( Beef dripping ). I try to fry some ingredients together all except the bacon. Then at the end I can mop up the pan with some bread, just like I did as a kid. For decent fried bread? Use thick sliced bread. Use Lard at a high setting. The higher the temp, the quicker fry. I have to say that after a 12 hour shift on Guard duties or returning from night patrols in N Ireland? The good old " slop jockeys " knew how to knock up a breakfast. Out of habit? I don't have beans, or, tomatoes on toast. I love either on some fried bread cooked in either Lard, Goose fat or Duck fat. So long as is not cooking oil.

OMG, memories are returning. I wonder how many people of my age can remember having the unused roast potatoes and cabbage mashed together to create " bubble and squeak " ? I've remembered a missing item from the Sunday ' fry up ' that's never mentioned anymore? Kidney's. My dad, who always took on the role as Sunday Breakfast cook, would serve up fried kidney's. How about proper kippers? Not your pack of filleted kippers. But the genuine, on the bone, head on and split kippers. Fried in butter and served with crusty bread. Cheesy beans on toast cooked under the grill and with a fried egg on top. So many Great memories, long forgotten. I looked after 4 Grandkids for a week while my daughter was in hospital. They could not get their heads around having a cooked breakfast instead of just a bowl of cereal and some toast and marmalade. The life that I remember has well gone.

Now that's spot on. In Canada we use predominantly what you call streaky bacon. There is always a lot of fat left in the pan after cooking and I store the fat in a jar in the fridge. Do you know why the body stores fat??... because over the years we trained our body to prefer burning carbs and sugar instead of fat so that means your fat only gets burned off when your last carb and sugar supply burns out.. If you cut out sugar and carbs then the body would have to burn its stored fat along with your new diet that would consist of a no carb/sugar diet meaning you would be eating fatty meats. (helps stop the fat stores building up to much which then floods up your arteries.

My husband used to eat a lot of fatty food and now has his heart bypassed in 5 places. This happened 10 years ago and we've not touched fatty food since. Any fat gets trimmed off (I choose a pack with the least fat visible) and binned and I use oil very sparingly when cooking. I was never one for eating fatty tasting stuff myself (I've never had fried bread in my life) but we hadn't even realised how much fat was in things like pastries, biscuits, ice cream, cake etc. My husband hasn't touched any of that now for those 10 years and I only have anything occasionally. Writing this as a warning (with the best intentions, not to be condescending)...please be careful everyone.

Hi the way I used to do it was to line a grill pan with foil, put the bread on the foil, put the bacon on the grill support over the bread and then grill the bacon. As the bacon cooks it drips its fat onto the bread. The bread soaks up the fat, you can either then fry the bread or put it in a toaster. Works a treat. I haven’t done this in years which is why I’m still alive to pass on my knowledge

Being Scottish i'm all for fried bread... the best way i've found to make fried bread it is after making a fry-up so it soaks up all the juices and oils from the bacon, sausage, black pudding etc. The key to that is is at the end of a fry-up - add even more veg oil if required so the bread almost floats in the residue of what's already been cooked and crank the heat up to as high as it it'll go... move the bread around so it doesn't burn on any hot spots in the frying pan and within a minute or 2 you'll have the perfect fried bread. Done this way you don't even need to cut the crusts off, but it is important to move the bread around so no area of the bread, be that crust or centre, over cooks or doesn't cook enough. Eat and enjoy!

How she managed to cook for 10 plus people on that thing is a miracle. The bacon back then had a lot more fat on it and when she grilled the bacon, all the fat ran out and she used this to make the fried bread. No butter or oil. Wow, it was the best thing. I also got to eat any broken eggs. Happy childhood days. Your fried bread looks great and it has reminded me to make some for breakfast tomorrow. I like fried tomatoes on mine.
