YUNZII AL71 Review: BANG for your BUCK!!!

I have the Womier version and it sounds and feels amazing. I swapped out the switches for some hand-lubed Akko CS Cream Blue switches and it's *chef's kiss*. I am amused by the same keyboard being offered by multiple companies with little change between them. It seems that Xinmeng is the company manufacturing these ultra budget aluminium keyboards. It is amazing that these boards are the same price as pre-built plastic keyboards... I wish they were around when I first started in this hobby but I guess it's nice having a more varied background. 😂 Great video as always! I love listening to your voice. Your videos are super informative and really chill.

Thank you! It is weird that companies are buying designs or keyboards and selling them as their own brand. There are heaps of them knocking around in the budget/entry level world.

What does it sound like stock and modded? Is it more clack in the beginning or after switch changes

Typing on exactly that one right now: I need to stress this to people: I tried to use it foamless and it just pings so hard its unbearable. With foam its perfectly fine. My other gripe is the screws, they are absolutely terrible and if u arent EXTREMELY gentle with them you will strip them. I changed mine to other ones after i stripped one. Also Yunzii claims that the switches are Yunzii Milk whatever but they are actually just OUTEMU whites... nothing wrong with them they are good in this board but they arent transparent about it. Also if u do run foamless PCB assembly prepare yourself for a lot of flex to the point of switches coming out. 1.2mm flexcut pcb and flex cut PC plate is a bit too much flex, it feels great but not a good idea to do haha

I tried my Womier S-K71 (same keyboard) without the foam and it was bottoming out against the case and felt horrible. It's clearly designed with the foams in mind, but at least it sounds and feels good with them in. 😂

@@nebulazykbs thats spot on, it didnt realize but thinking back to it ye it was bottoming out on the case on this as well. Flex cuts everywhere with1.2mm pcb and pc flex cut plate is not it... i wish they were going to make some different plate options for it, really want to try FR4 on this

@@sinnerairsoft8487 I think FR4 would be great! I grabbed a Monka 6067 aluminum 65% in the same very budget category and it comes with FR4. It also sounds amazing right out of the box. I'm not sure if it's the same or just very similar to the Sugar65, but they are worth checking out.

@@nebulazykbs that Monka board looks really cool, but i think ill make the change to buying less, but more expensive keyboards. Have enough budget ones at the moment and it might just be reduntant to get more at this point. I've managed to get this Yunzii in a spot where im happy but i just installed TX stabs on my Moonsgeek M1W and i dont think I want to use plate mounted stabs after seeing how good and easy to tune they are. Not to say that plate mounted are bad but the quality of the TX is just too good ngl.

Man this review is really really good! I hope that your channel will get the deserved growth, you are very underrated. I ordered this same keyboard and then decided to see some reviews. It was a bit cheaper than the Womier and I got a good deal on it. I was wondering what switches do you have on the video ?

Yunziis AL71 and Womiers sk71 are pretty much the same however the AL71 is better just for the fact it has more keyboard color options. Womier makes the sk71 in only 3 colorways vs Yunziis 7 color options, this makes it more suitable for all setups. I also liked Yunziis software which made the AL71 a better pick in my opinion. Still is kinda weird that multiple companies are making the same exact keyboard and trying to make them each their own with minor differences like keycaps colors packaging and branding.

Great review! Trying to mod/tune mine at the moment, thanks for mentioning the stab type. I figured it was plate mount, but took me looking through the Amazon link and 2 other YT videos to get finally get the confirmation here lol. Anyways, man, this keyboard is great I couldn't have hoped for anything more at this price. The aluminum is pretty chalky feeling, even on my black one. The side RGB I couldn't figure out how to get custom colors on, but at least was able to change it to solid R, G, or B luckily solid red works with what I had in mind. Also the 3 indicator LEDs are really bright, kind of messing with color profiles on the surrounding keys. Might see if I can mess with the diffusers or something to fix the indicator bleed and I might have overlooked the side RGB settings, the softwares not bad, it could definitely be better though. But other than those minor (personally) points it's amazing.

What does "IXPE out" mean? What did you end up removing... for us laymen.

IXPE or PE switch pad/sheet. It's the thin foam sheet under the switches, which gives a really distinct tone across all keyboards.

V65. Based on the V75 I tested, it's a more premium feeling finish on the V65, and I prefer the typing experience over the AL71.
