I'm a wannabe drummer...I said it. I was a dancer for 1/2 of my 44 yrs; tap being one of my preferred & most skilled styles. Foolishly, & arrogantly, I thought, if I could make my own music & beats, i.e. magic, w/ my feet I should be able to do so w/ my hands. My dad is a musician, he was into it, too; having pride in my whole-hearted attempt at my favorite instrument. Allow me to say this clearly...I WAS SO VERY WRONG!!! What drummers do, what ALL musicians do, is brilliance! What Youssef Dayes does is orgasmic! I truly mean that! I’m 30 but been playing since 3 and in the professional scene since 14 so I’ve been around a fair share of musicians but this is the best I’ve seen in that time.
