Cheers. Never get tired of the look of it although I must confess the exhausts have changed and theres black panelling in place of the silver tank panels. IMO its the best looking naked bike out there at the moment (once modded of course)!

Thanks very much....its changed a little bit since then....ive lost the silver sidepanels (replaced with black) and ironically ive actually quietened it down a little bit....the exhausts were blowing a little bit (the seal between the v&h's and the headers) plus itll be getting a full set of orange samco hoses and a top end Nitron R3 rear shock. When its all on ill put up another vid.

I think thats a compliment, although its a little quieter now as the insides of the exhausts have coated a little and ive fitted a block off kit....plus the speaker on my phone is a little sensitive!

Think? TBH both the SC Project and these were waaaayyy too loud....the akra has the best of both worlds - quiet at low revs and a better sounding note at the top end (even shortened by 100mm too)

No power commander. Don't use one! Find a dyno operator that's skilled enough to reflash the ecu. You get more control over the fueling and be able to do other stuff as well.

+TK Biker The tank pad is what came on there...the bar end mirrors are made by an American company called "Driven" - I think the model is called "D-Axis" they are quite expensive though - I was going for a specific look so it was those or nothing! :) but worth it as the optics/quality of mirror reflection is really good and, if im not mistaken any spares can be bought for them if you loose anything which is handy...

No. That's the colour it came in.....I've just changed the front sidepanels (the silver ones) for some black ones. I'll be doing another vid after it goes on the dyno next week... :)

Personally I never tried it. When I got the bike stock I rode it home and then stripped it down. Although the stock exhausts come with a soft rubber gasket and ive seen other ones with the brawlers on there with the stock exhausts.

nasto19nj absolutely no problem... Happy to answer questions.... If youve got the arrow headers then use some gasket sealer (the white paste) as the oem gaskets are a bit too thick. If you've got any more questions I'll answer if I can but mine is a gen 4 so might be a little different...

Comfy Sofa following. the swing arms a pretty much the same, so I'm sure I'll be good for slip-on clearance and arrow has the headers for the '13, so I'm sure that's all cherry. the only thing I was worried about was the slip-ons fitting in the female end. have you looked into thinner aftermarket gaskets?

Cheers - its a bit "earsplittingly" loud though - even with the db killers in. Last night ive change the configuration to a single exit with an Austin Racing short end can....sounds loads better and a little tidier. While I like the brawlers I do find them a bit "Hot Rod" - so thought id try a single exit. I still have the centre section and the brawlers so I can switch back if I want to.

Cheers - it should be sharper, and faster by tomorrow night as its dyno time...its a bit of a first as the ecu is being reflashed without the need of an additional pcv, so, im the guinea pig. Its supposed to be completed in a day but may run over...if I get the chance to get to the dyno while its being done ill put up some more video of it being thrashed...

Are those stock bars? I just got the 2015 black and green all stock brand new and I feel that I am leaning over a little to much.. I cant find any type of risers either..what did you do for the back plate? did you get a brake light turn signal?

Jim Shu Hi. these are ktm fitment bars. these are supermoto styled ones so If you fit these they'll put you forward ( which is what I prefer ) yes the rear light has integrated indicators. I like to keep the rear as minimal as possible.!

Jim Shu I'm not sure...i think that if you try to get something angled back then it may look a bit silly....i think the best route would be bar risers. the rear light for me was easy to fit but does depend on your mechanical competence!

I am a little confused on the difference from the z 1000 motor compared to the zx 10r motor is there a big difference would the 10r smoke it?

Jim Shu heh..... Totally different engines! The Z1000 is based on the old zx9r bottom end. That's not to say it's bad.... The Z1000 is very reliable, mine has been trouble free for 3 years, not missed a beat. The other thing is the the ecu is an evolutionary model from the generation 3. If your looking for more performance then definately start with the exhaust.... Full system, drill the airbox, fit k&n get it on the dyno and either find a dyno operator that can reflash the ecu. There are lots of restrictions in there that can be removed. The net result is mine can stay with an r1m well into triple figures! If you cannot find or are not near a dyno operator send your ecu over to a guy called Ivan in the USA list the mods and he will reflash your ecu.. He will remove all the locks and send you a file. You additionally buy a power commander and fit. The file he sends you gets loaded on to that. I'm very lucky as I have a very skilled dyno guy only 10 miles away so mine is reflashed.

No, the arrow headers go all the way round to both sides of the bike so those V&H pipes went straight on...mines changed a bit now since this (it now has a single exit pipe) im not sure where in the world you are but one of the nice things about arrow is they'll sell you individual parts of exhausts separately so you can either change configurations (hence my now single exit) or replace damaged parts also. If youre in the uk B&C express is the reseller. Hope that helps.

Theres a lad on here that uses the pro taper ones (ive not heard of the make) I went with the renthal as ive known of renthal for years. Its purely your choice on which bar you go for (its down to the personal preference. I personally liked the renthals as they were in orange (theyre the ktm fitment). The blinkers on the front are led blinkers from an r6 (the r6 blinkers are teardrop in shape and fit perfectly on the mounts on the zed). You can find them very cheap on ebay.Hope that helps

Ah... Well... If you go to b&c express they'll sell you the single exit rear section... Mine cost 170.00 GBP. The pipe is an early Austin racing pipe from an rsv4 (the pipe diameter is the same) so you can choose anything from the rsv4 but not the rf as its 5mm bigger.

Well, i dont have this setup any more (the main reason is it was earsplittingly loud!, even with the DB killers in there). Ive changed the configuration from a dual exit to a single exit. Theres another video on here of the Austin Racing slip on that is on there currently but, today ive got an SC Project CRT slip on coming in the post so ill be doing another video soon...also waiting on a set of Marchesini lightweight wheels too which are a month overdue.

Comfy Sofa good stuff on your bike. 1 of the best looking Z1000 also with the color and the gray side panels. Yeah i saw your other video. Mine doesn't seem too loud but vibrates a fair bit and is a bit low freq, so it tires you out if you don't use plugs. Will be shifting to the 4th gen soon, I'm on the 3rd gen. No - definately better with a single exit.The brawlers are fine on stock headers but too much on the race headers) The Austin slip on came from my rsv4 (it just happened to fit, which was nice) but ive always liked the sc project crt. Ive managed to get one off a lad who had one on his hypermotard (the link pipe is different but the bore of the slip on is the same) Im expecting it to be a bit more "raspy" if thats a word....

Hi - do you mean you have a 4 into 1 system and you want to connect Vance & Hines? if so then use the Vance & Hines pipe from a zx10 - check first but im sure that should fit.

Flaviano Z1000 yes. Youll need the vance and hines from a zx10 as the exit pipe is larger ( should be 60mm ) My indicators are from an r6. Cheap aftermarket ones from eBay. :) I warn you it will be very loud!

Not so much louder but deeper - theres definately something to be said for the tail pipe....ive had quite a few on mine and settled with the akra. With the arrow headers and shortened by 100mm it still passes the UK annual roadworthy test (the MOT) without any advisories yet when opened up makes a nice noise (just loud enough to sound good) and at low revs (cruising) not to draw attention from the law...

Yep - this was way too loud...i think TBH honest anything would be quieter. I dont think ive ever ridden anything that was as loud as this. No idea on your vibration question....ive never had any vibration on this bike anywhere before or after mods...it is, buttery smooth...

Still got mine. Use it every day for work....ive still got my hyper and RSV4 but its still after 6 years my go to bike....still cant see anything that will replace it. Its just a good standard litre bike thats comfortable, reliable and fast, and theres a shed load of tuning and suspension options too....mines just had a front fork cartridge conversion to Nitron pro's. You wont be disappointed.

Kst Fati Nooooo.... No power commander! Mine has the ecu reflashed. This was done on the dyno. Bike has a custom fuel mapping applied to the ecu. Power commanders don't give the same control (nowhere near) as an ecu reflash! Flashing the ecu means that other stuff can be done also ie flapper valve motor removal, reduced engine braking fuel injector control.... If you can (and you know a dyno operator that can) get the ecu reflashed... Much better results are gained.!

Renthal fat bars. Theyre the straightest angle i could find. Theyre the same fitment as KTM....ie mine will fit a ktm 525 exc....theyre a bit wider and make you sit a bit more forward but i find it easier to pull the bike around and i like the seating position they put you in...a little more agressive...but not too much to put weight on your hands/arms. Hope that helps.

On the Z1000 forum i'm on one of the members mentioned the renthal fatbar and the pro taper contour series were the two to look when changing handlebars for this bike. Nice to see someone on video with bar on so i can get a visual of what it would look like, like the looks, like you said it seems it would be a bit lower and less sweep from stock.
