This song is also a great allegory for people who suffer from depression. The condition tends to isolate the person to further loneliness. The person may desperately want to be with someone, but it's like there's something weighing him down to stop himself from pursuing. Sometimes, there's cold weather even when it's sunny outside
@thartley1390 Жыл бұрын
It's so true. I left my wife of 8 years about 8 months ago. She was overcontrolling and very degrading to me. I had to leave. I had to show myself that I was confident enough to take my one and only life back. Life is hard now. I'm struggling, but it was a struggle I saw coming. Her and I remain very cordial for the kids, but she still insists I just should have stayed. The lyrics of this song hit very close for me, no translation needed. We still try to remain friends in a way, but I can see it in her eyes and she can see it in mine. She's the only person I've truly loved. And now she's not mine anymore. Somehow thru everything, I'd still give my life for her

There is no time limit on grief. Be gentle with yourself and breathe thru rough patches. Grief will eventually become comforting memories. I lost my sister & brother 11 days apart. Then my mother & my cat (of 25 yrs) just a year later. I grieve them still, but it’s different now. I can smile instead of cry - most of the time. I always called him "Run Away Ray". He was always out & about. In our 6 year relationship there was so many downs. But the ups were beautiful. Now he's gone forever. He was haunted, and now so am I. Miss him every day. Dream of him most nights still. I'm married now. And I'm so happy. But I still miss him & always wonder what could of been. XoxoX 💋 I only ever wanted happiness for him. Wish he could of achieved that for himself. I know he has no pain. No shame anymore. And I cannot wait til I see him again. ❤ 💋 🙏

It just sucked so much for him to be right there but just concerned about himself. Whole ass fidiot. Never will forgive him for being a shitty parent. This song reminds me so much of Grampa that passed away 3 years ago. He was a truck driver up North in British Columbia Canada. He was on the roads for around 6-8 months at a time. It was always so good to have to the family around!! It was so hard when he passed away from a heart attack as we hadn't seen him in such a long time!! Love and miss you always Grampa!
@thebaddawg71678 ай бұрын
my dad played this song all the time in the truck when i was younger and i would always break into tears at the last verse (along with failingly trying to not let my dad see how much of a crybaby i am). there was just an indescribable pain in “i’m with your ghost again” and even 7 year old me got it - i’ve never had to suffer through tragedies like the ones in the comments, god forbid, but it just goes to show how music can be used to share emotions that are so difficult to express, so much to the point where a tiny girl in her dad’s backseat can feel the same grief. today, this song, and i swear it, is the only song that gets me to cry every time. i could listen to it a hundred times in a row and those piano keys at the end will kill me everytime. it’s not every day we are blessed to hear such a beautifully crafted song in both lyrics and progression.

I was married for 25 years to a man who had the constant battle for needing to volunteer for missions due to his Law Enforcement job (he was an Army Airborne/Ranger/Sniper too, but became a reservist after six years of active duty - once we had kids) and his need/want of being home with me and our children. It took its toll on our marriage. When we separated this song came out and he said it described us perfectly. It’s been 8 years since we divorced, we remain best friends and are very close… every time we hear this song it takes us back to those dark days of realizing our marriage was over.
