This song is also a great allegory for people who suffer from depression. The condition tends to isolate the person to further loneliness. The person may desperately want to be with someone, but it's like there's something weighing him down to stop himself from pursuing. Sometimes, there's cold weather even when it's sunny outside
@thartley1390 Жыл бұрын
It's so true. I left my wife of 8 years about 8 months ago. She was overcontrolling and very degrading to me. I had to leave. I had to show myself that I was confident enough to take my one and only life back. Life is hard now. I'm struggling, but it was a struggle I saw coming. Her and I remain very cordial for the kids, but she still insists I just should have stayed. The lyrics of this song hit very close for me, no translation needed. We still try to remain friends in a way, but I can see it in her eyes and she can see it in mine. She's the only person I've truly loved. And now she's not mine anymore. Somehow thru everything, I'd still give my life for her

My mother and father were nvr married. He wasnt around much growing up. But always made it a point to tell my mother that she was his only true love. Both my mother and father married other ppl, but he still always wanted my mother. Always told her he loved her, always wanted her. But he was an alcoholic amd always cheated. Alwayz traveling for work, always doing something else. I FEEL like he only loved my mother and him self and thats how he always wanted it to be.... well my father passed away from cancer, it's been a years this past june. He wanted this song played at his funeral because "it was his favorite song" I listened to it again after I got home from his service. Then I realized this song was from him to my mother. I just started bawling. I love and hate this song at the same time.

I was married for 25 years to a man who had the constant battle for needing to volunteer for missions due to his Law Enforcement job (he was an Army Airborne/Ranger/Sniper too, but became a reservist after six years of active duty - once we had kids) and his need/want of being home with me and our children. It took its toll on our marriage. When we separated this song came out and he said it described us perfectly. It’s been 8 years since we divorced, we remain best friends and are very close… every time we hear this song it takes us back to those dark days of realizing our marriage was over.

This shit hurts man, lost my dad to cancer in 2018 and he always had country playing in his truck. Recently started listening to country again (im more of a rap/pop/hiphop enjoyer) and when this song came on in the spotify playlist I almost fuckin cried. As if it hasn't been said enough, absolutely beautiful song from a very talented band. Thank you for this.
@thebaddawg71678 ай бұрын
my dad played this song all the time in the truck when i was younger and i would always break into tears at the last verse (along with failingly trying to not let my dad see how much of a crybaby i am). there was just an indescribable pain in “i’m with your ghost again” and even 7 year old me got it - i’ve never had to suffer through tragedies like the ones in the comments, god forbid, but it just goes to show how music can be used to share emotions that are so difficult to express, so much to the point where a tiny girl in her dad’s backseat can feel the same grief. today, this song, and i swear it, is the only song that gets me to cry every time. i could listen to it a hundred times in a row and those piano keys at the end will kill me everytime. it’s not every day we are blessed to hear such a beautifully crafted song in both lyrics and progression.

Believe me, there are thousands of people right here in America that appreciate and quietly pray for the safety and peace of mind of truckers. You are the last of the cowboys that we get to know. You watch over us and try to protect us sometimes from our own stupidity driving. When America falls, it will be because the government shut the truckers down. Blocking roads or cutting off gasoline. I love you all and we think about your families too❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
