You will not experience the blessings in life of keeping Shabbat if you don't keep Shabbat. And there are those who can end up taking things a bit too far. The rules for this FEAST day are simple. Don't Work, Don't Make Anyone Else Work. REST.

Love your teaching. I'm Christian and have never kept Sabbath as not all Christians do. However recently, I've started to question why most Christians do not keep the fourth commandment. So I've been researching it, in order to observe it the right way. You've made my understanding very clear. Thank you.

It's actually kinda fun for me on Preparation Day, to cook extra, get everything spiffed up and clean so that on Shabbat it is like being on a Cruise Ship where everything is done and all we have to do is put yummy specially made food on our plates whenever we like!! Try it, it's not that hard, it is a joy to do it for the love of YHWH! Most Shabbats I make stuffed (ok, "deviled"...dont know what else to call 'em) eggs, overnight peanut butter oats (let me know if you want the recipe!), cut up fruit or berries for breakfast, tuna salad and veggies for lunch, and whatever leftovers from Shabbat Erev. I try to make it special...try it! The only thing I might do is reheat in microwave.

My granddaughter calls them "spicy eggs". I agree, it is actually fun to come up with delicious food and menus where no reheating is even required. I make coffee the night before to fill my huge thermos, and all that preparation just makes the sabbath easier for me, as I am not constantly running to the kitchen. Most of the time I use paper plates just to save on cleanup, but it doesn't bother me one bit to wait until after sunset to wash the dishes.

I had a conversation with a local pastor about Shabbat. We both came to the understanding that we all are to keep the Sabbath. So when I asked him why he would still have a sunday service, his answer was that if he changed to Saturday, nobody would come. So my understanding of this is, he is not serving YHVH, he is serving money. I have a friend who works for a local Jewish congregation. He goes in before the service and turns on the lights, then goes back after and turns them out. Because they feel its work to turn them on. We normally cook two meals on Fridays. One we eat that night, the other we just re-heat on Sabbath. We do not create a meal, just re-heat it. Blessings Zach

I've know many pastors and most I ended up seeing not such good things inside their hearts... However, I do feel that when they say "most would not come " is not bc they won't get paid, but bc they truly want people to hear the gospel and be set free from bondage. Why do people have to always assume that pastors, ALL of them, do it just for money... the pastors I knew and did not like as people, were not all greedy, but people flawed, just like me, who truly love others and desire for them to receive all of Yahushua!🙏💗🕊

The only question to ask is - “Is it work?” Flipping a switch is not work. Sliding a prepared casserole in an oven that only required pressing a button or turning a dial is not work. Starting a car and driving is not work, unless you are doing so as a means of income which involves driving all day and inspecting your vehicles, etc. Work for some is not work for others. Riding a bike for some requires lots of effort, whereas for others it is a form of relaxation. Perhaps this is why there is not more detail around what is/is not work. To be clear, many don’t get all this from just reading their Bible; they must study it! Love you Bro!

I went on a car trip recently with my brother and his wife who are not Sabbath keepers. They don't think twice about going out to eat, buying and selling, or causing others to work. So on Friday we checked in to a hotel before dark and went out to eat. I got extra food and took it with me back to hotel. In the morning I had a bagel, cream cheese, fresh fruit, and coffee at hotel. During the day I ate my cold left overs. Not the best but it's ok for the day. We stopped 2 times for them to eat but I didn't eat at the restaurants. I did however have a cup of coffee and felt guilty for it. I know, because we had lots of discussions, that I needed to be careful in setting an example of being Torah observant and keeping Shabbat. My conduct was very important as a witness to them. If I had it to do over again I wouldn't have drunk the coffee. I don't really know how to travel and/or be with non-Torah keepers and properly keep Shabbat. Other than the coffee I did my best. I did try to prepare in advance and not buy and sell or work on Shabbat.

My late hubs and I had that same issue. We had to go with my son and wife to transport my father, dying with cancer from ND to MO. Of course we were traveling on the weekend and it was difficult. Now, I think I would have a small ice chest with finger foods. The buying of gas, though, was an issue. My son had to get home to work, so how could we have managed that? I pray the Father's forgiveness for my immaturity at the time.

To ‘Caught in Love’, I believe that Jesus speaks to the situation that you addressed, when he said, “it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath (even if you are lawfully breaking the Sabbath -in accordance with his examples, which I will copy below).” It sounds like an oxymoron, but as you will see from Jesus’s sinless examples, there is such a thing as lawfully breaking the law. Jesus also said, “If you had known what these words mean, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent”. You are the innocent one under these circumstances. I believe the examples that Jesus gives demonstrate special allowances for the purpose of ministry, health, war or unspecified mercies (special circumstances). So we keep the Sabbath regularly and faithfully because it demonstrates our love for God and our fellow man, but God doesn’t expect us to go hungry if we are on a mission of mercy. Your idea to bring an ice chest for food on the trip was a good one, but if you didn’t think of that beforehand because you were new to keeping Sabbath, or you really didn’t have time to make those preparations, or it just wasn’t practical for some reason to bring a cooler of prepared food, God is not insensitive to your circumstances and your family’s needs. It sounds like you appropriately repented for possibly not being as prepared as you thought you could have been, and you are continuing to grow in the knowledge of and obedience to the Lord. You should never feel guilty about breaking the Sabbath in order to provide loving care, as long as you have prayed to God about it and honestly sought his will and guidance over the circumstances. You should never feel as if you have to neglect your family in order to obey the Sabbath. Mercy takes priority as “the more important matter of the law”. “Jesus said, “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices-mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law-justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.” Matthew 23:23-24. Although the example Jesus used was about the law of tithing, it is also a caution against giving a seventh of your week to obey the letter of the law, but neglecting the heart of the law, if you neglect a real and urgent need of yours or a fellow man’s. In order to be a good example of God’s love, we need to practice the Sabbath without neglecting mercy. “Jesus answered, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his (war) companions were hungry? He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread-which was not lawful for them to do, but only for the priests. (and God did not condemn them for it). Or haven’t you read in the Law that the priests on duty in the temple during Sabbath desecrate the Sabbath and yet are innocent? I tell you that something greater than the temple is here. If you had known what these words mean, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent. For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.” (Meaning Jesus and his disciples were on a ministry mission, which was equivalent to working in the temple). Matthew 12:3-8 Who better to know whether or not his Sabbath practices were lawful, than the One who gave the Sabbath commandments, in the first place! Jesus was not abolishing the Sabbath, but teaching, by example, the acceptable ways to observe it, and when to make observance of the Sabbath a lesser priority. “One Sabbath, when Jesus went to eat in the house of a prominent Pharisee, he was being carefully watched. There in front of him was a man suffering from abnormal swelling of his body. Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in the law, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?” But they remained silent. So taking hold of the man, he healed him and sent him on his way.” Luke 14:1-4 “Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to bring charges against Jesus, they asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?” He said to them, “If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.” Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other.” Matthew 12:9-13. “Then Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. And by the way, The Son of Man is also The Lord of the Sabbath.” Mark 2:27. We should think of Sabbath-rest as a gift from God to mankind, as well as a way to reciprocate our love to him. If it would be a true hardship to rest rather than to heal or save, then, those who know God as a God of mercy (not wrongfully thinking of him as a harsh, heartless task-master)-we should be able to discern properly what God’s righteous will is. However, God’s mercy under special circumstances should never be used as a pass to completely dismiss being obedient to God’s Sabbath commandment. It is not acceptable to ignore doing God’s law because you are afraid it would be inconvenient or impossible to do perfectly. We keep this commandment as directed by Jesus, the Lord of the Sabbath, and we only do what is lawful and good.

Hi Zach I agree with most of what you have said ...but wouldn't you consider cooking work? I certainly do..I enjoy the fact that I don't have to cook on Shabbat because I prepare ahead of time...warming something up...no problem but cooking full meals is work and I am sure most women (or men ) who do the cooking would agree. One day out of the week isn't going to kill you to have leftovers, or a sandwich or warmed up chili that was made the day before..but whoever's responsibility it is to prepare the meals would be working and the Bible is clear that no one should be working on Sabbath....that's my 2 cents for what it is worth.

Cooking is definitely "work" for women, as we are the ones usually having to do it hours every day of the week and then wash tons of dishes for hours too. Some men may excuse cooking away as not being work so they can please their fleshly desires instead of being uncomfortable for a day by eating leftovers made the night before or sandwiches (the horror! Lol!). Most women would LOVE a break from cooking for one day a week....just as Yeshua encouraged Mary to stay at his side listening & learning during his visit, instead of being busy in the Kitchen like Martha was. That is just one prime example of many in the Bible, of what to do on YHWHS Day as you spend time with Him....Be like Mary, NOT Martha. I agree with Zac on every single thing I've ever heard him say except this one point about cooking. I'm 56 yrs old now and researched this extensively before I started cooking enough the day before Shabbat so I too could take a break along with my family as YHWH meant for me to. Of course if the MEN want to COOK for their wives & entire families on Shabbat then that would probably not be considered work since men dont normally cook as part of their houseWORK for their families on a daily basis like the wives do! So there ya go...let the husbands spend the day of Shabbat doing the cooking & serving everyone! Lol! And dont forget the mounds of dishes too when Shabbat is over as part of cooking is cleaning up your mess.

I agree with you brother, I think the most important thing that I have found in my experience of keeping Shabbat is learning to prepare and plan for my time with Yahuah it’s been almost as much a blessing as the Shabbat my week seems easier and shorter. Friday after work I buy and prepare, my crockpot is my favorite appliance. I try to meet Yahuah at day break so I get up early bathe finish off any preparation, greet Yahuah and spend the day resting and growing in relationship with Him. When I do travel for Shabbat (teaching or fellowship) I prepare.... Getting out of the American instant gratification mindset has been a blessing to me. Shalom brothers and sisters

I've often wondered about how people define "emergency." Obviously there are certain things that must be available or done on Shabbat. Emergency personnel are probably the best example. Fires, crimes and injuries don't have a schedule. In my second year keeping Torah, my son, 15 at the time, broke his hand on a Friday night after sundown. I didn't wait until after Shabbat. I took him to the ER right then. I don't think an air conditioner is equivalent to an ox in a ditch, but a medical emergency is.

Since we live in the Rockies (8,700' elevation), and get a lot of snow (4-8') during the cold winter months...we always make sure that we have enough firewood ready for the wood stove to last through the Shabbat. It is not difficult. We also light the fire before Shabbat starts. In addition, when my wife lights our Shabbat candles before Shabbat...we use this flame to start the fire next morning (Saturday). I agree with what you are saying about the work part. People put the emphasis on the "fire" part, while..like you are saying...it is the work part that is the essential part and the reason for the statute. The Shabbat is one of the two Shabbat Shabbatons (multiple ways to spell it) which basically mean "Sabbat of rest"... In addition...have people forgotten the "perpetual fire" that was in the tabernacle...used for the morning and evening sacrifices...yes even on Shabbat. You know...some Shabbats (feasts) even had extra sacrifices performed on them...using fire.. Plus...i.e. Isaiah writes that the "Sabbath should be a delight" (paraphrasing)..so how can it be a delight to us if we sit in the dark (and yes it gets really dark miles away from civilization), with cold food...and without fire for 24 hours when it is below freezing outside....? Sometimes it is actually possible to use a bit of common sense... ~ TJ

Donna, that is so sad that a group of Christian believers would make you feel terrible about working in healthcare on Sabbath, especially if it was only once in a while. I hope you have found a more supportive group to fellowship with. It seems to me that your job would fall under Jesus’s examples of lawful Sabbath activity, as it is healing (or caring for the health of others). Even though you are getting paid for your healthcare services, I think you could parallel that to the example that Jesus gave about how the priests worked in the temple on the Sabbath and were still considered innocent. Doing the temple work was how the priests earned their living. They were compensated with portions of the sacrifices. That doesn’t mean that someone could do any job and be innocent of breaking the Sabbath, but it seems clear to me that certain types of healthcare would be essential for someone to perform every day of the week, for what Jesus calls “the more important matter of the law, which is mercy”. Jesus said, “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! Although the example Jesus used was about the law of tithing, it is also a caution against giving a seventh of your week to obey the letter of the Sabbath law, but neglecting the heart of the law, which is love and mercy. In order to be a good representative of God, we need to practice the Sabbath to the best of our abilities without neglecting mercy. “Jesus answered, “Haven’t you read in the Law that the priests on duty in the temple during Sabbath desecrate the Sabbath and yet are innocent?” Matthew 12:5 “One Sabbath, when Jesus went to eat in the house of a prominent Pharisee, he was being carefully watched. Sabbath-rest is a gift from God to mankind, as well as a way to reciprocate our love to him. Who better to know whether or not certain Sabbath practices are lawful than the One who gave the Sabbath commandments, in the first place! Jesus never abolished the Sabbath, but he taught, by example, acceptable ways to observe it, and when to make observance of the Sabbath a lesser priority. Scripture shows that Jesus teaches that the law of mercy is greater than the Sabbath law, because he chose to do healing work on that day. He taught that it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath even if you are technically breaking the Sabbath -in accordance with his sinless examples. It sounds like an oxymoron, but there is such a thing as lawfully breaking the law. Jesus also said, “If you had known what these words mean, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent”. Matthew 12:7.

Read a study once I can't remember the name of the author but basically came down to three questions to ask yourself regarding whether or not it's okay to do something. 1. does it further the kingdom of Yah (fellowship)? 2. is it merciful (healing, pulling an animal from a ditch) ? 3. could it have been done any other day (getting gas or preparing food ahead of time)?

Zach, thank you so much for this video. Sabbath should be totally dedicated to YWHW. A very important verse is Isaiah 58:13 "If because of the Sabbath you turn your foot from doing your own pleasure on My Holy Day, and call the Sabbath a delight, the Holy Day of the Lord honorable. And honor it, desisting from your own ways, from seeking your own pleasure and speaking your own word, 14 then you will take delight in the Lord, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; and I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken."

My insight ... I was involved in TO groups sine 1998 and keeping the Sabbath with them was work because of the double workload on a Friday. I was not working outside the home then, now I am, but not on the Sabbath. Keeping it very simple, it is about joining ourselves to YHVH on the day He rests... a heart attitude as you manifest the law on your heart. IF you belong to Him, He will guide you to take on more obedience. People left the lights on day and night, stoves, appliances left on so they wouldnt flick a switch (causing a fire)... it robs the joy of the rest. Some wouldnt brushntheir teeth because turning the faucet was work.

I was going to ask Zachary his thoughts regarding the true Sabbath day, and he can post a reply to this if he likes, but I wanted to shed some light on this myself. We know that the Sabbath comes every 7 days, and is preceded by 6 days of labor. However, there is no mention of the Sabbath being a particular day of the week because the days of the week were given names in accordance with the Gregorian calendar, and not God's calendar. We acknowledge that the sun and moon were created for signs and times, the sun marking the length of days and the moon marking the length of months (the length of a month is always the same amount of time, not 30 days one month and 31 another, nor 28 days). The Sabbath falls on the 7th day of the week, determined by the beginning of the new moon, not by the Gregorian calendar.

We live in WI, I can tell you in a -35 day if we dont start our wood stove our pipes will freeze and we all be sleeping in the same bed to keep from freezing ourselves. That foolishness never has bor witness to us. Becoming Pharasittical about Sabbath is not what out Fatet wants. We have chose that any work that produces a profit/yeild will not be done. So harvesting and canning my produce that saves me 10k a year wont be done but we do walk out and havest that meal for the day. We will go for a Hike in the woods and admire the Fathers hand. No walking is not working it's so relaxing. FYI yes I will wash dirty dishes as that type of work is not for a profit. I dont believe for one moment the Father called us to be Pigs. However dishes is the only thing I will do. No house cleaning or anything like that. I dont stop caring for my children either. If my daughter falls I mud puddle she get a bath.

Agreed... I do not want to encourage any individual or business to work on my behalf in any way on Sabbaths. Even if they are not believers. And unless an emergency truly arises, avoiding the spending of money or exchanging for one whole day... is not a bad idea. But about the fire and cooking? Are we not instructed 'to cook' on high days, which leads me to believe we should not on regular sabbaths. Well anyway, it is 'work' for me. So a day not cooking is liberating, and makes my sabbaths truly 'joyful and restful'. So cold cereal, yogurt, bagels, sandwiches, salads, or microwaved soups work just fine for me and our family. Nobody starving here.

You can live in fear and serve man and money, or you can obey, and trust Father to provide. Do you think it was easy for the Israelites to go up against armies many times larger than their own? But they were commanded to. When they did, Father provided for them. When they listened to fear, the anti-faith, they were cursed. Yeshua said, anyone who is not willing to give up all they have is not worthy to be his disciple. Step out in faith and trust Father to provide, do not listen to fear. I lost the only good job I have ever had due to this, but if I seek the Father, he will have a better thing for me to do. Money is not my security or my purpose. My last day of work, when I had to make the decision between keeping the law or my job, my verse of the day was, "your law is more precious to me than gold, yes, than much fine gold." Not a coincidence! And when I went back that monday to try to reason with management, my verse of the day was, "he who loses their life for my sake will find it."

Good, clear teaching Zach! I know that some believers consider it sin to "create a spark" on the Sabbath. They relate it to starting a car, and pushing a button on a microwave as well. I don't see how creating a spark with a lighter, or even a match, by turning a key in the ignition, or by pushing a button could be considered work. We're not to engage in labor to earn a living or which consumes our time, like laboring all day over a hot stove, but I think Yahshua's point is that we can do enough to meet our physical needs. I like having things ready that I can quickly heat it up in the microwave on the Sabbath.

Thank you for the encouragement Zach. The only thing that I disagree with you on is the cooking bit. I was homeless for a month and still kept the Sabbath while sweating it out in my car and not heating up my food so as to honor Him. Made sure to have everything gathered so I could rest that day, and even made sure to have a sleep spot close to the meeting place so I wouldn’t have to travel. It is very doable to not just eat cold porridge. Meat pies, egg rolls, and other foods like it are able to keep very well without refrigeration! 😋 mycoult45 states my opinion upon now having a roof over my head.

Zach - I agree with all this but the cooking one has me confused. Why would Yahweh say no work but on High Sabbaths day no ordinary work except that to prepare food if we can prepare/cook on both weekly and high sabbaths? Why would He make this distinction? If we are allowed to cook on any sabbath wouldnt He say “except to cook” (paraphrasing) when giving the weekly sabbath instruction? Thanks in advance & blessings :)

Zach, we love you and admire you for boldly proclaiming the whole Gospel....and we agree with most of what you said...Yet, we disagree with you when you say that it is not about cooking, but about gathering. YHWH said, "...bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning." That speaks of 'cooking.' That means don't cook (i.e. prepare) your food on the 7th day. He said to hold it over for the 7th day....so we prepare our meal on the 6th day and reheat it on the 7th. Gathering is another item on the detail list that Yah has given us. Don't gather. He also specifically stated not to 'kindle'...We looked the word up...It means to consume or burn up...which a fire does when it' "goes out." Just as we make sure we have gas in our vehicles for necessary Sabbath travel....we must plan ahead for the fire. Many people have stated below that they keep the fire going or simply add a stick of wood in the morning on the hot coals....No kindling or starting a fire necessary. We must be very careful not to 'rationalize' and 'assume' we totally understand the 'whys' of our Father. The book of Job explains this in great detail. Our minds are not our Fathers'. As children, we must hear and obey to the best of our ability. Blessings-

I agree with most of your interpretation. I don't cook though, I make sure I have leftovers and just reheat them in the toaster oven & etc. I found I had to bend a bit when traveling though. I just did a 5 month trip through South America on the cheap, without any access to refrigerators, microwaves, etc. on shabbat. Eating out was about the only way I could manage to not starve myself on shabbat, not to mention I was already fighting nutritional problems (way too many carbs & not enough meat), diarrhea, and lack of sleep, and desperately needed as good of meals as I could get for a proper rest. I think the "gentile" argument isn't entirely wrong when you're in a society of people who do not even have shabbat on their radar. Your actions have zero impact on whether or not they're keeping anything. The context of that commandment in the Torah is in setting up an entire society that keeps shabbat. HOWEVER, conducting business on shabbat is clearly not resting, as seen seen Nehemia's decree. That's what keeps me from going to restaurants and the like. But when I'm traveling in a place and manner that don't allow me to otherwise eat properly, walking to the corner and paying for a meal is far more supportive of a good rest than any alternative. And when you think about it, even though I always paid the hotel to cover through shabbat in advance, they still have an attendant there to run things. Not having anyone serve you in any capacity whatsoever is an impossible standard to hold while traveling in a shabbat-less society. It's not like there were even any synagogues I could go to for help in these places either. I think the key, at least while we're still in this practicing and figuring things out phase, is to not overthink it and just rest. Recover from what ails you during the week, spend time with the family if you have one. Anything you can get done the day before or the rest of the week to make shabbat more restful, do it then.

I agree with you on most of the points. But one thing I do miss here. In Leviticus 23 God is stating that also the weekly shabbat is a feast. And that we are required to have a holy convocation. Last couple of years I have seen a lot of churches having only online meetings, but no actual convocations. Maybe I do misinterpret the verses here, but as far as I understand Torah the rules are: Don't work, don't make anyone else work, rest AND have a holy convocation. I am trying to keep Torah now for about 3-4 years and understand more and more of it. I do think the shabbat is something you shouldn't keep by yourself, but gather together to celebrate this weekly feast for God. I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

I know this is older, and I've watched it a couple times before, however, it keeps coming up on my YT feed (past week). When this happens I tend to sit-up and take notice because I believe my King is trying to get my attention. Just watched again, and I so agree with Zach on nearly all this interpretation. I have a couple thoughts where I differ, however, so I'll share; but of course we all must "work out our own 'salvation' --- return to uprightness in God's Covenant --- with fear and trembling", so I am not telling people this is "gospel". First, as most Torah observers know, Shabbat (both the weekly and the sh'mitah [seventh year]) represents the seventh millennium from creation --- coming up in about 220 yrs? --- on God's calendar; when most Jews and Hebrews believe Messiah will rule and reign as king of Israel [did Yeshua say the "final age" would be cut short? In Mark 13 Yeshua is clearly speaking of two events and I believe vs. 20 refers to our day]. Once Messiah returns, our opportunity to be part of building His kingdom will be done, and those who are chosen to inherit His kingdom will "enter His rest". Entering His rest will not mean we will be sitting in the dark/eating cold food for a thousand years. The millennial reign will be a time of great joy (celebrating and dancing), for though we will be part of the workings of the Kingdom, our trials, hardships and "regular work" (redemption) will be done. We will "recline" at the table to "eat" what has been prepared for us. That is why we work feverishly to prepare everything: the buying/selling, as Zach said - gassing up the car, chopping and hauling the firewood, cleaning animal stalls etc., washing bedding and clothes, prepping and cooking the food (I keep it @ temp in the crock-pot, oven or on the stove top [I believe its ok to keep the "fire" going, but "starting" it is the issue). I also clean the house ahead (having that done is "heavenly" for a women) . On Shabbat we act out what Messiah's kingdom might be like for us.; therefore, Thursday sunset to Friday sunset (erev Shabbat) represents the age we live in. We are the generation who are called to reap the greatest harvest, so, to keep this insight and motivation forefront in our thoughts, we (above all previous generations) must strive to rehearse the end-time harvest weekly. That is my take on this subject anyway.

Good teaching. I love the gathering concept. Just as the Father gathers his wheat for the barn (millennial reign) which is a type of Sabbath. He won't be continuing to gather after it's started.

Driving is work for me as well, though my wife does a lot of it now, it's just too tiring... We stay home for Shabbat.

God created the world Etc in 6 days a labor of love but work. A woman making two to three meals a day for a family chopping dicing cooking stirring sauteing frying kneading Etc a labor of love but it would be very nice not to have to do that one day a week. Yeshua and his disciples picked at the Grain and ate it they did not prep it cut it boil it Stir It fry it they did not dirty dishes. Even when I warm something up in a pan if that pan is sitting in the sink I am not restful of Mind knowing that it is dirty in the sink. collecting germs and getting stinky. Get the picture? It is my understanding preparation for Shabbat was done the day before. Make sandwiches hard boiled eggs Cube some cheese wash the fruit and you can Feast like a king without the work mentioned above. And no clean up afterwards except licking your fingers. No cold porridge necessary.

Roberta Vaughan. HalleluYah! We feast like kings. Never had cold porridge. And the word in scripture "layup" is yanach means to leave it alone. Have a feast. Just don't warm it up. Take the day off.

I agree. Where I have been attending Shabbat services at for 3 years now and I am seeing people in leadership going to a restaurant on the sabbath for lunch, they cater a passover meal on the sabbath after passover to have as a congregation. I love my brothers and sisters there but I think I need to find another place for worship.

It would be great to find a fellowship here in central Arizona where people keep the sabbath. Since I have been following the law Shabbat has been me reading the scripture and praying at home. I live back in the sticks so anywhere I go would be a drive so it would be great to find something closer. If anyone knows of a group, drop me a line, it would be great to share the time with others.

Potato salad, tuna salad , ceasar salad can be eaten on Shabbat. You cook your food in a Crockpot on low (there are so many recipes!) or in oven low heat. Many Jewish women have channels to teach you how to prepare foods for Shabbat. :) Hoagies, subs or heroes are good too! Teaching the alefbet to your children, singing songs, watching Bibical cartoons or stories, reading books, games for learning Hebrew or Torah, memorizing verses, and going out in your yard (on hammocks, climbing trees, etc) enjoying the creation He made are good past times for children. Think Eden. Think of giving all of creation a REST. No creating just enjoying. Potluck meals are wonderful too and sharing with others is great! Paper plates make clean up simple. Learn from the pros whove been doing this thousands of years!

Good teaching. Sabbath is simple and not supposed to have added restrictions other than not to work. That is how you set the day apart.
