Maybe I'll focus a little more on the tool deals at Walmart. You really can't go wrong with the value in the hyper tough kits. Honorable mention definitely goes to the 12v Skil.. really like the USB charging option on all the batteries.... God only knows what sort of evolution we will see in the next few years. That was a nice comprehensive video , thanks for all the work you put into making great content... Stonemason from Maine USA

Nice video! Cool to see you've both PSI and ft/lb. This little HT driver is pretty impressive! And the everyday low price is set just right. I wondwer how it will perform with the 4ah battery? HT might want to expand on their battery to 6 or even 8 ah.

The Hyper Tough and Skil would have finished all of them if they didn't get too hot. Great video
@zacksintheshop
@zacksintheshop 2 ай бұрын
I’m not sure the skill would’ve been able to finish all of them, but it did a heck of a job. If the overload protection wasn’t on the hyper tough, it might have finished all of them, but it might’ve smoked it too.

My biggest caveat with the Hyper Tough is the only one speed setting. I actually bought that Skil about a month ago for $50 on amazon, and, I've gotta say, it's a godsend to have multiple speeds for both delicate and tough jobs.
@zacksintheshop
@zacksintheshop 2 ай бұрын
I can understand that. I know there’s a lot of people like me who just use the trigger as long as it’s variable speed to alter how much power you’re gonna use. I know as many people as that feel like to have other settings to do the same thing. All about preference.

I've got the previous generation of Skil and it's been impressive how much it punches above it's weight. I've never asked anything of it that it couldn't handle and that even includes using it as a compact impact wrench working on the car. Oh yeah, and it comes with a 5 year warranty when you register it on their website.

I really like impacts without all the fancy speeds and modes, it's just hard to find one that can have those high rpms to get you through a project
@zacksintheshop
@zacksintheshop 2 ай бұрын
There was a few impact drivers that have high RPM and a single speed. I know Ryobi made a brushless model that had a single speed and a model that had four speeds. It’s less common to find a single speed now, but I think they’re still out there.

Do you know if hyper tough will soon make pouch cell, or tabless cell 20v batteries? That you'd be a game changer. Thanks for reviewing these tools
@zacksintheshop
@zacksintheshop 2 ай бұрын
I can’t see hyper tough using the newer battery technology since it would likely cost a lot more to purchase them then. They might move into using tabless cells once they’ve been around for a while.

I saw the 4ah battery on sale for 48 bucks today. Looked down, and the brushless angle grinder came with one, a fast charger (which I also hadn’t bought yet) and the tool of course. For 62 dollars lol it’s about 20 for the fast charger and 48 for the 4ah. You legit get a free grinder just for buying it 😂

So the reason the Hyper Tough wants to cam out is because the hammer spring is too strong. One of the main differences between impact drivers and impact wrenches internally is that wrenches usually have stronger hammer springs which allows more energy to be stored before the hammer dogs are pulled off the anvil and the mechanism resets. You get more power, but it defeats one of the main reasons to use an impact driver. It ends up acting more like a drill, putting constant rotational force onto the fastener until there's finally enough resistance for it to start hammering. You want a weaker spring on a driver so that the rotational force is interrupted, allowing for the bit to re-seat itself into the fastener. I recently anvil swapped my Hercules brushless 20V impact driver using the 3/8 anvil from the Hyper Tough 12v brushless impact wrench. The 1/4 hex anvil from the Hercules now lives in the Hyper Tough, but I've found that it makes for a terrible impact driver. The hammer spring is too strong and the bits constantly try to cam out of the fastener.

It seems to me that there’s a progression with some of these fledgling tool lines. Like Bauer and Hercules a harbor freight. For a while they just come out with simple tools and a couple batteries. After a few years, they have eight amp power and 12 amp power 21, 700 cell batteries. I’m sure hyper tough will add a higher amp power battery sooner or later. If they want everybody to use their chainsaws and high drain equipment, they’ll have to.

@zacksintheshop I think if HT keeps getting high praises from users such as yourself, and sell enough of them. They sure will come out with more tool options, along with higher capacity batteries. I think Walmart is listening to the short comings of their older tools from reviewers/youtubers like yourself, Zack, and making improvements. I seriously get the feeling, they're going to dump hart soon. I started to see hart products at Ollie's.
