Hey guys! So my slave-I mean editor, Alex accidentally placed Noah Ohlsen over either Gudmunson or Fraser (I don’t remember which one I was talking about even though I mentioned Fraser). Both gudmunson and Fraser have the best technique in my opinion. Also I am well aware of Fraser’s past as a weightlifter ;)

@@pilot.wav_theory If I were to add anything back thats Oly-esque, it would be hang power clean. The reason I don't like Oly is because you can't rep out the lifts. You gotta drop the weight and set up again and I don't like that. At least with hang power clean you can pretty much get a rhythm and bang out reps. Also to the person who is scared of the lifts, you shouldn't be, its easy to bail out of both lifts.

Thanks for such great content. I really appreciate you acknowledging that, since their training encompasses a wider range of skills, crossfit athletes are not expected to be compared with high-level weightlifting athletes. Multiply by 2.2 to convert from kg to pounds. So 140 kg times 2 is 280, and then you take that number and move the decimal once over to the left (280 becomes 28) and add it to the first number: 280 + 28 equals 308 pounds. You can do that in your head in seconds.

Loved it! Interesting to see what criticism you have while acknowledging that even though their technique may not be perfect, the entire event is fun to watch. For once a person that understands or respects that crossfits shortcomings are inherent in the sport by chosing not to specialise. However, I do see it a bit differently: a crossfitter needs solid weightlifting technique more than anything to win the games. Tia and Matt proved it.

The concept of crossfit is great when correctly applied. The problem comes with the wrong "optimization" crossfitters do to some exercises. The CLEAREST example imo is the classic crossfitter's "pull-up", that's just doing the exercise for the sake of the movement, not for its benefits to the body.
@0BuLLeT01
@0BuLLeT01 3 жыл бұрын
Crossfitter's pull-ups as you describe them are not intended for the same purpose as your traditional strict pull-up. Crossfitters still practice strict pull-ups to build strength and endurance, but they're rarely programmed in competition as they are difficult to judge fairly. It is important that you remember that CrossFit is a sport as well as a methodology. Trust me when I tell you that kipping, and even butterfly pull-ups require strength, timing and endurance, and all three forms have different purposes.

Let's remember, the top athletes are good at cleans DESPITE doing another sport (crossfit), not BECAUSE of it.

They clean off of the hips because they have long torsos and short arms relatively.

"Crossfitters don't usually look like weightlifters when they lift" is so accurate. Alternatively, there is something distinctly unique in the way a weightlifter lifts. I think it's that a miss with a weightlifter is almost always technique related, rather than strength related (as in a technical mistake, not lack of technique). Whereas for a crossfitter, it's both lack of technique and strength. It's always a grind - even their makes.
