Well done. I would like to note that the new panel has all inputs, so all I had to do was to bring 12V and audio input from any old car radio. :) The car radio is not suitable as an amplifier because it has a high power consumption (12V 3-5A = about 60W). In home use you have to use an older PC power supply of 150W. For an old car this solution is of course good.

@@kartrok3072 Old desktop PCs (office) have 100-150W power supplies. You can get these for free. But it's not about price, it's about efficient use. You can install a BT panel in an unused "retro" radio receiver that only draws 7Wh and has an 8 ohm speaker - the volume is great. :)

These cheap mp3 decoders like the one you used make a terrible buzzing sound. You could just connect an mp3 player to the aux port. Plus if the aux port of a different radio model automatically overrides other sources (like the radio), your modification could mess up the entire radio's functionality. Id love to see a version where the initial car radio doesn't have an aux port with a better mp3 decoder

on some old car radios, I connected old headphone cables (with stereo 3.5mm plug) to the cassette drive magnetic sound head contacts as input. I disconnected the power wire to cassette drive motor. the cable plugs into external audio sources, an mp3 player (or old phone) in the car, at home into the PC audio out, or into another old phone as Internet radio, or this phone here (which I'm writing on) which is attached to an old desk lamp arm, hanging over my bed to watch KZbins on..

yes much neater solution, or Im still favouring just young the AUX/cd jack plug socket, input on the front, and if cable bug you a bit duck placed in right place to hold it outsight and most car dashboards have cracks holes and sure push cable in on of them out of the way to wanted to also?

It could be a good option for a car stereo with a broken cassette player (if it's already dead, make use of the rest of the unit). Although I wonder if the tape mechanism would be the last component to fail, I'd think it would be the electronics first.

The MP3 player also has radio via the "Mode" button (you can see "FM" in the screen). You would need to solder an extra wire to the antenna.

I don't if I missed something, I remember aux in would always disconnect the radio when you plug the jack so that you don't have two things playing at the same time. Anyway my old time favorite car stereo was Sony54 hooked up to pioneer equalizer which I still hold on to dearly I always hook it up to every car I get to own with any head unit that I prefer

May as well have plugged in an MP3 player to the Aux port! Why didn't you connect it to the tape head input to the amp, that way you could have kept the Aux function live? The bit that is dead in the radio is the tape deck. Now you have deleted the tape deck, but keep the inputs live...?

good video, but for a car radio, that already semi multi media, have AUX in put on the front panel, it a lot easer, the two ended 3.5 mm head phone jacking cable at any dollars store, or nuts, audiophile stile with gold contacts and Dimond in banishments if must, and just use head jack socket on the cheapest MP3 you can buy, if not already got in cupboard draw some cover in dust not being used?

That's a nasty trap, my friend. How many car stereos do you know that have a front connector for CD signals? I don't know any. Most of the time they don't have a CD input, they have it on the rear pins, or they have a built-in CD player. For example, any of the other devices you've shown in your video. I know you can do much better.
