I originally wanted this video to be about Commander types and High Mobility types. But then I kept finding more things. Kakarot’s Notes: - The Japanese name of the MS-06Le’s pilot is ユーリー・コーベル (Yuurii Kouberu). IMO, Yuri Korbel made the most sense, but in one magazine it’s Romanized as “Jurij Cobel”. Also, the soccer team is called “オクラント・レプス” (Okuranto Repusu). “Okrant Reps” is the best I’ve got.

How can you observe battles unless you crack a few ships open with your giant heat hawk? What better way to inspect your troops than to see if they will follow where you will lead? Dozle is just being a diligent, responsible general here.

That's surprisingly _Prussian_ in getting as close to the frontline as possible and command from there (a legacy from earlier conflicts). One example of this tendency is Erwin "The Desert Fox" Rommel who ran around the front lines asking officers and soldiers for facts on the ground.

@@TheTrueAdept All things being equal, that really is a good way to command. But as the scale, complexity, speed and lethality of warfare increased, it's just not efficient enough anymore. Thank god Dozle had Minovsky particles to roll a lot of those factors back to pre-WWI levels.

It's actually pretty neat to see a Zaku customized for a left handed pilot. Being lefthanded myself, I do get annoyed that I have to go out of my way to have my model kits hold stuff in the manner that feels natural to me, but seeing that such customization was at least considered in universe does put a smile on my face. Also why it should be obvious given how much of a beast he clearly is, I never actually considered that Dozle's Zaku had the cockpit modified for him.

i get what you are saying but as someone who has used many kinds of industrial equipment and been diving for over 2 decades i have to say it really does not matter what hand you are dominant with as you are required to use more than one hand and in most cases both feet i know this first hand as i am right hand dominant and because i live in the usa with the steering wheel on the left hand side you have to shift with your right hand meaning you have your left to steer so i have gotten used to just steering with my left hand so much that it does not feel natural to do it with my right hand and with dozle it makes sense that they had to modify the cockpit irl you can be too tall to fly fighter jets space is at a premium in anything that flies

@@paktahn While it is true that you can do some things better with the hand that isn't your dominant one, that usually requires a lot of training and practice with it being easier for some than others. I am almost 30 and I still struggle to clip my nails using my right hand so I end up using a nail file just to get it as presentable as when I use my left. Some things just click better for others and it nice that they had a work around. I remember hearing that about jet pilots, but for some reason it just didn't come to mind when it came to something like a mobile suit.

I mean it kinda makes no sense? You’re using both hands anyway to pilot it, if anything maybe mirroring the cockpit would make more sense if even that, making a specially left handed machine means they now have to specially make left handed weapons for just that one unit to use. Given how strapped zeon was for supplies by the end I can imagine they were told to deal with right handed suits pretty quick. The machine did most of the work anyway as long as you lined the sight up you were good to go. It’s interesting but kind of also non-sense from a military perspective. But also hey glad somebody at least gets something out of it beyond going “neat” at the lefty zaku.

While late to the party, I think that making an MS left-handed friendly would, if anything, come down to the cockpit controls being mirrored. The machine itself is going to be ambidextrous for no other reason then there is no reason to make the arms more different than they have to be. Given that we've seen Zakus wield weapons without problem in their 'off hand' the computer likely wouldn't even need to have more programing done to handle thing. SS2LP's comment about left handed weapons actually brings up an interesting note - the most famous and iterated on weapon used by zeon forces - the Zaku Machine Gun is actually a left handed weapon. The ejection port on all types are on the left face, the original machine gun used by the Zaku 1 attached it's drum magazine on the right face of the weapon (making loading it with the left hand an awkward affair. even the fore grips are ambidextrous in most designs (only changing to a grip meant to be used by left left hand in MS Igloo and model kits afterward)

The designs in the original gundam series have a heavy inspiration from Samurai armor. The gold trim on the Zabi custom units is Inspired by Daimyo armor. A Daimyo being a eto era governor/ Lord. Basically they were the rich land owners and were known to decorate there armor to show their wealth.

Good stuff! I still see that I'd kill for a UC reboot that incorporates the plethora of MSV we've seen over the years as well as better blends the stories together. If they made such a show using the out of this world top tier animation quality we had in Unicorn, I think it would end up being one of the coolest things ever! If they went the Origin route and made it mostly with CG... Much less exciting visually, but if we got all the MSV and an updated story, I'd still be all over it.

I agree on all those ideas…..if an ONLY IF, they cut down a bit on the NewType stuff at least after being Lalah Sune into the story ……if there’s one thing I’ve learned the really HATE from the original series outside of Gihren loyalists it’s her Her constant involvement in the story long after death, namely her seemingly being a factor in Char’s Counterattack via the swan that draws Quess’ attention that leads Amuro to discovering the horseback riding Char And STILL showing up in Unicorn annoys me It feels like the creators for UC need to shill her when it comes to anything NewType related whenever it comes to UC era stuff Hell they have the damn main villain in Thunderbolt, which is basically an AU of the UC Era, use her original line for hell’s sake

It is amazing how the aces customize the MS in order to adapt the stile of fight, but also is cool how they created new weapons, as the doble bazooka or how much balance they made to take care of their machines until new modifications got available. If you have the skills to prove yourself the best, for sure you can make all the modifications you want, with your very own nickname which is cool because the war nicknames are the best.

The size of the vulcans always cracks me up in Gundam. They just arbitrarily pick a caliber and run with it. a single 30mm rotary cannon wouldn't fit in any of the MS heads in gundam, let alone 4 WITH ammo. hahaha

I love these lore videos, and the fact that UC Gundam units have as much lore, history, and variations as real-life WW2 armored vehicles (down to copying the model numbers, in some instances). It makes the Gundam universe feel much more realistic. Although it's insane that Zeon developed all these mobile suits during a war that lasted for exactly one year; that's some of the fastest research, development, testing, production, and deployment of combat vehicles in fiction or real life. Imagine if they had just focused on one really good design and mass-producing the hell out of it like the Federation did with the GM.

@@Aceshot-uu7yx Unlikely, since it was mass produced, and was a heavy assault MS designed for offensive action, making it less useful when Zeon was on the defensive by the time they had a lot of Doms and Rick Doms in service. It was intended to replace the Zaku II, after all.

I would love a development timeline for these mobile suits because you’d think this happened for a long period of time but it was the “One Year War” Not that war machine development can’t move fast. It’s just hard to wrap my head around it and it also makes it feel like the pilots have so much history in each suit I also understand a lot of the Zaku development did happen before the war
