Zareba 5 mile solar fence charger repair, well actually just replacing the internal battery.

My fence charger has quit working. In this video I have taken it apart found a bad battery replaced the battery and now it works.

I can't find a screwdriver to remove the screws. It looks like it takes a t10 star driver. What did you use to remove the screws or is it easier to just remove the face plate?

@@ChrisfromKeyfarm i figured it out. It took a smaller hex key to remove the two screws to pop off the back to gain access for the battery. My on/off switch is sticky as well!!!!

I didn't find the exact battery, but if you search the same voltage and amp hours, it will be the same size battery, there are a couple of links in theses comments.

Did you have to charge the replacement battery or were you able to just plug it in and go?

The battery you get will have a charge in it but you won't know how much. With a replacement battery or a new fence charger it is always best to let them sit in the Sun for about 3 days before you attach a load to it.

Give it a shot, mine is still going strong, as a matter of fact , just about an hour ago I saw my big red horse touch the fence with her ear. It's hot and she'll pay closer attention next time.

If you have a multimeter you can test the leads going to the battery, in the sun I think it should show at least 6 volts.
