I think Zayn had serious reservations even before they won. I remember he bailed out on a rehearsal very early on during the competition and Simon had to give him a combination warning/pep talk. Zayn was an introvert and a gentle soul. Being on the road, constantly surrounded by a large tour family, performing for thousands of people every night, would be hell for an introvert like Zayn. The adrenaline from performing is amazing, but an introvert coming down from that rush would want total privacy, peace and quiet, but you don’t get that on the road. It’s usually a feeling of being overstimulated and being forced to socialize with complete strangers, another thing introverts hate doing. It’s pretty impressive he lasted five years in that sort of grind.

I think he genuinely enjoyed being in the band for the first 3 years (even though he most likely didn’t like the music). My guess would be once his relationships with the rest of his bandmates went downhill is when he started to hate it. The fact that people just ignore how little support he generally got from the rest of his band during his lowest times is incredible, they’re blinded by a love for the band. Performing with 4 guys you’re close to probably wasn’t that bad, however feeling alone on stage must’ve been hell, and I agree that at least by then he was probably an introvert. I’m just happy to see his life have improved by now

I've always been an introvert, and thank God I always had friends who understood that an were sensitive to my needs. That being said, I'd hate to be on the other side of that, all wanting to do more, and there always was this limitation. Tbh I think they truly held it together superbly, and they didn't lash out in anger. Even way after, they always say "maybe..." about a reunion, but you can see it in their eyes, it's not happening.

I think he truly liked all of his band mates.I think they helped him with his anxiety problem while he was in the band. I think there is a lot more behind the reason he left than anyone is telling. Honestly though, it is not really anyone's business. He left for his own reasons. And he is having to deal with the consequences. I think he is amazingly talented and deserves all the success he has had. I wish him continued success and happiness. Everyone has opinions and that is fine. I think Zayn realizes now he lost the love of his life and misses Harry and the relationship they had. Many people do not want to believe this but it is just my opinion. They are both trying to move on and find happiness. Zarry is real. Listen to the music. Golden, Fool for You, most of the songs on Mind of mine were either to or about Harry. And the 1D album Four was all about their relationship and how it ended (my favorite 1D album). It is truly the saddest story I have ever seen. Heart breaking. Just my opinion.

it's a crazy crazy thought, but I feel like zayn decided to leave the band for harry's sake as well? we know the first one to suggest the hiatus was harry indeed, but the other boys (louis, liam, niall) didn't take the proposition too well so everything was set aside and they tried to carry on. Zayn wasn't enjoying the music and I think at that point he was frustreted with the fact that he could never really collaborate in writing/composing, and maybe even a little bit with the amount of promo/touring they were always going through. Plus after "the discussion" he knew harry wanted to leave (or at least wanted a break) as well, but I don't see harry as the kind of person to up and leave if everyone else in the band didn't agree with his decision, so zayn kind of took the bullet for him? I'm not saying harry was the sole reason he did what he did, bc I actually think he was dying to put out his own music, but I do believe it played a huge part in his final decision. That said, I also think zayn isn't the type of person to do something for someone and then tell them just to have a "thank you" in return, so I think harry misundertood his gesture and took that as betrayal or like zayn was abandoning him? And I think that would explain why they don't talk anymore. It's just my opinion and sorry for any mistake, english isn't my first language.

Nobody acts and looks at each other the way they did, during concerts, interviews, walking the carpet, sitting and talking during awards ceremonies, etc. if they didn't at least have a close friendship. Nobody. There is no way they are that good of actors. If they weren't that close they would look like they weren't that close at least some of the time. And they would act more distant with each other than they do. You would expect them to look and act like acquaintances, work partners, etc. Be civil and maybe a little acting for the cameras, but not like how they are. There are some pretty intimate and close moments for two people who "never spoke" and "weren't that close". Moments that weren't necessary to show them as being friendly in the band and liking each other as band mates. You cannot honestly say that they needed those moments to portray that they liked each other as band mates. And you can't honestly say that they can act that well so much. They must be the best actors on the planet then. Even their own band mates, who are as close to them as you can get without being family, were surprised by Zayn's statement. Yeah, I call bullshit on Zayn's statement here. I knew it was bullshit the moment it came out. And it's not that I ship Zarry or anything. I just have never seen proof that they were not close and never really spoke to each other. Whereas there is tons of proof that they were close and did speak to each other, and not just in music videos and at concerts, but also in hundreds of other videos that do not even have to do with work, vines, own videos, fan clips of them when they didn't know they were being filmed, or those when they did know they were being filmed but could have easily interacted with any of the other three members of the band and not with each other (you know if they were not really close and never really talked, why wouldn't they interact with people they were closer too), etc.

Zayn and Harry love was a problem for ID management. I think they were caught too many times expressing their love and they thouht letting Z go will change things BUT Harry misses Zayn to much and force the hiatus as confirmed by all the other ID members.💛💚

I don’t really believe anything Zayn says, his reasoning has been all over the place. First it was he loved it just wanted to be normal, then it was he never wanted to be there he hated it, next it was anxiety and he was sick. I think something is going on the drama has been created to maybe keep the boys going during the break.

Hayley Hithins I guess you need to read/listen his interviews and the real interviews not the ones that says he hated being in 1D or he wasn't happy with the boys because he has never said that.. he has never disrespected 1D, & the boys, it was because of his personal taste of music and the restrictions of making music, and other most of the things they had to say in interviews, and all that stuff.. no hate darling, but please try that your words don't sound rude.. & I'm sorry if my words sound mean, I'm just trying to remove the negative impact/thoughts made up by some shitty interviewers, always remember that media has power to good things look bad and bad things look good. so please, I hope you understand my point.

Totally agree with this... He is just very untruthful and tries to drag management saying that he is being forced to say these things... Like what? 😒 I am so over his bullshit. But his recent song #goodyears turns me back to him. He regrets what he had done. He misses his very best friends and wants to reconcile with the boys. I hope he asks the boys for forgiveness directly. I'm sure he will readily be forgiven because I did... I mean it would be very sweet if he does that to his very best friends. I like 1D back. I understand Zayn soo much , I have the same personality , i try to be someone who i'm not because i'm just scared that being myself is not enough , no matter how much i enjoy the company of my friends i often enjoy being by myself even more :) I don't think he was forced to leave , I think it was something he had to do because he lost the relationship he had with the most important person - himself. He had to find himslef again and realise who he is , in fact i belive he is doing sooo much better now then he ever did in the band , he just isn't faking it anymore , he is just being the shy , sensitive man he is :)

when an intervier ask him about the rumor that he will leave the band, liam said 'yes' but zayb said he's not.. what I think is maybe he wanted to leave but the management don't want him beacuse, offcourse they have a contract.. so he did all that rules violations so he will have a reason to leave the band.. but being solo makes him feel lonely so he change his attitude to make his self feel strong..

Okay, I admit that leaving the band in the middle of the tour wasn't cool. But, we don't know the whole story and jumping to conclusions without knowing it and raising questions against someone's character isn't cool either. He didn't exactly say that he didn't like 1D music.He said that the music that 1D made wasn't his kind of music and as an individual, I believe he is allowed to have his own taste in music. Remember that 1D came together as a band not because of similar taste in music but because they were put together as one by the judges. They all came as individual contestants, so it kind of makes sense that they all had different taste in music. All of their solos are so different from the music they used to make together as a band, particularly that of Zayn and Harry's. In fact, Louis is probably the only one who still makes music that are somewhat similar to that of One Direction's (and yet, he remains grossly underrated. See the irony?) As for the fighting bit, I believe you're referring to the twitter feud between Zayn and Louis. All of us only saw what was written for the public to see. Zayn is a really private person, like, he barely uses social media anymore (With the amount of hatred he receives there on a regular basis, it kinda makes sense too). He probably keeps quiet about One Direction because if he says nice things about the band, people would ask him why he left. If he says it was stressful, they'd say he is ungrateful. Leaving in the middle of the tour was perceived by many as a dick move. I think Zayn is smart enough to know that leaving in the middle of the tour would have serious repercussions and if he was still willing to take the risk and go through with it, the reason must have been pretty grave as well. As you said, it goes two ways, always. Self love ain't selfish!

The background music is so sad. Watching videos like this makes me so sad. Remembering how I used to be obsessed over them. I remember overreacting whenever their songs play on the radio and where the guys were and what they were up too. I remember that I NEEDED to know what they were gonna do next. For 5 years, I remember supporting them for everything they did and worked hard for. IDK what is wrong with me today, but I just don't seem to love them as much as I want to anymore. You can definitely tell that he wasn’t enjoying it towards the end which is why he left and I fully respect that because it’s obvious that this band was taking a serious toll on his physical and mental health but I refuse to believe that he NEVER enjoyed it or that he wanted to leave from the beginning because you can see how happy he was. You can’t fake that kind of happiness or that kind of brotherly love for the other four boys. I really do just want him to be happy but honestly in all of those interviews as a solo artist he looked so so sad. I’m not saying he would have been happier if he was still in the band because as I said he clearly wasn’t and that’s why he left. Reunion or not, I just want them all to be friends again and for them to be happy. 🥺❤️

Making difficult decisions, and choosing to move onto other genre's, is a part of growing up. Although all kids grow up and have to make difficult choices, those in the public spotlight have every detail of their lives microscopically analyzed over and over again. He only said that he's not talking with Harry because he want media to stop asking him about Harry and their relationship, its the best way to end up speculations, rumors or what not. Because who would still ask about someone when he already said that he never really talk to him right? But deep inside he and Harry is the closest friends slash special friend among other boys.. Remember when he said in an interview that he'd share stories to Harry that he cannot shares to others. And the fact they always sleep in the same room gives us clue that they really have something.. I think it’s sad how all of them allowed their rifts to get to the point that Zayn left and then they had a ‘hiatus’ lasting so long. Maybe it was their ages at the time and the strain of touring and living together for years that took its toll on them. It seems to me that there may have been complex and confusing relationships between them - Louis and Harry, Harry and Zayn, Zayn and Liam…and it was all too much for them to handle at a young age and being in the spotlight all the time. Perhaps Louis and Harry did have a thing going as it seems clear, but then it ended and it became Harry and Zayn - as that also seems clear - but it caused strife and tension between all three. At any rate, I really hope they can all move beyond it all and grow through it enough that they’ll reunite as a full group of 5 FRIENDS who have a special bond and camaraderie if not brotherly love for each other. To hear and watch how some have expressed their genuine care, respect, admiration, and concern for the others is encouraging anyway. I’ll keep hoping…
