Lovely, my girl Risa! I wanted to add my own comment, and the prompt with the blank box is not showing ... wonder why? 🤔 well I guess I'll use this space... Hey Zubin! @zdoggmd I'm so glad you decided to upload this video! You've become more and more authentic and clear at pointing to our true nature... non-bs, down to earth, and always humble... without losing that relative humorous self that makes you who you are... Thank you!

Just started listening, Zubin, but want to say I’m grateful you’re addressing this. Yesterday I wrote a note to Angelo thanking him for all his pointing and inspiration, but saying I needed to bow out of my subscription and membership in his channel, because of an increasing dissonance between his style of teaching and my direct experience. I had told him previously that I feel like he, and those in his lineage, are turning this into yet another “way,” another form, another Zen. To me, even (and perhaps essentially) the term “awakening” has become distorted, if not corrupted. Just one more thing to aspire to, as we endlessly find ways to deny the immediately of our own experience. I look forward to listening to the rest of us, and I’m grateful To you for expressing it. 🙏🏼🔥🌻

This is an excellent commentary on what is often a confusing and frustrating rabbit trail. One could spend one's life chasing after spiritual fireflies instead of enjoying the beauty of one's unique unfolding experience.

Holy shit, Zubin, this is what I needed to hear. I’ve been listening/watching video after video of Angelo’s and they are just not hitting home. Whereas your videos touch me. In fact, in March the algorithm fed me one of your live streams after having not watched a video of yours in months. The next morning I woke up after an uncharacteristically sound sleep and experienced no thought for approximately 3 seconds. After that, I knew it was time to pursue this, but as I said Anglo hasn’t been helpful (obviously not his fault!) I keep reminding myself of the saying I heard almost 30 years ago in an Asian religions class, which struck me at the time: “If you meet the Buddha in the road, kill him.” Anyway, the trauma/ subconscious thread speaks to me. It fits the experiences I’ve been having in the past few months.

I'm so glad you are doing these videos. I watched a video where you described your awakening process and the inquiry question hit me so hard, I woke up the next morning already apparently in inquiry on it. I went all the way down, stripping away everything until I was nothing and then somehow also realized that meant I was everything. I have felt this very strong pull toward exactly what you talk about to start this video, there being no "Doer" and nothing is happening. I feel like this is me getting sucked into what Angelo calls one pointedness, and I am trying not to overthink anything. But I also have Aspberger's and am prone to over-education and analysis. So I'm grateful that you point out that there are so many ways to pursue this. I don't want to fall into the trap of questioning whether I'm doing it "right" and follow my intuition when I feel it.

This was a really good way to frame up the universality of paths to awakening. It never made sense that there could be only one way (or language or religion or story) to explain the unexplainable- and only one algorithm for coming to know it. Thanks for continuing to be the amazing communicator that you are!!!☮️❤️

This was such a beautiful video that I am crying! I mean I cry at everything these days but having experienced so much of all of this throughout whatever this is, I really felt it! I do want to add that I do think talking about stages is maybe helpful to kind of know where you might be, this is not a linear path at all. Even the threads of what I am feeling come and go although oddly when I talk to the tribe or join in group sessions, there's often common experiences happening at the same time. It truly is a very individual experience.

I agree. My experience has been different to everyone online, but I know deeply that I am following the truth, as I know this intuitively. It took me about a year of being on this path to finally stop doubting myself 24/7 and needing videos from "awakened people" or "non-dual teachers" as confirmations. I barely even watch non-duality videos anymore, because first-hand experience has shown me that the most direct answers are already within my own awareness. I still enjoy non-dual videos for pointers and different perspectives though :) there's no "should's" or "shouldn'ts" in reality. Trust yourself, it's the only thing to trust :)

Oh thank you for saying this, everyone has their own unique experience. I learned this when creating a way to sit in reiki energy using a combination of crystals, not one person had the exact same thing happen to them and that was so wonderful to observe. The crystals helped where it was needed and if it was solved the energy moved to the next need.

I have walked amongst the spaces of others' travels, and I have learned from each, and yet, my expression is designed for its own unique experiences. I have found valuable counterparts, myself, and all that is living and intersecting effortlessly for me to experience, share, acknowledge, and allow. The human expression is the verbal observer and its words create, its thoughts muster more words, and the possible has its moment to display.

I definitely agree with the message here that there are flaws assuming any given model is going to be your experience, and this thread model seems to fit that better. However, I think something like the thread model still has its drawbacks. For example, threads suggests some sort of linearity to each thread with clear pathways, and that they are mutually exclusively. Not saying that’s what the thread model is actually about, but the idea of threads suggests those characteristics to me. It’s also becoming increasingly clear to me that teachers/facilitators typically speak based off their own journeys, interpretations, and however they were mentored. And many of them discount the ways other teachers/facilitators approach this. It feels like some loose patterns of how all this unfolds can be drawn based off different people’s experiences, but it also feels like there are no clear rules to any of this. Sometimes when I’m being honest with myself, it’s not even clear what aspects of my own actions are revealing this emptiness, or if it’s simply revealing itself. It’s essentially trying to determine causality from correlations. Any who, great video! :)

At 2:19 you mention ancestor speak. Then at 12:23 you mention ancestor memories. At 18:09 you refer to an inner ancestor experience. Could you do a video on this topic? Over the last couple of years I've felt a sort of profound connection at times to a great uncle I barely knew. It's an experience that I can't really put into words. It's almost as if he's somehow trying to guide me in some way, but even that's not descriptive of the experience. I thought this was just some sort of random mind game, but after watching this, it must be something others go through as well. Would love to hear more about this.

Violet had a really nice interview 2-3 days ago in which she talked about her awakening experiences. As I commented there, especially for those who are not yet awake, the biggest takeaway is that there is no "right" way to awaken. Every nervous system is unique. The same goes for further shifts. What's true for everyone: It's funny as hell once you get it. (Even if it doesn't seem like it.) 🙂🙂

In a more theoretical vein: most of the world's spiritual "maps" come from groups of dedicated spiritual practitioners drawn from relatively homogeneous and culturally stable societies. It seems to me that a map that might correspond to the experience of most, say, Theravadan monks in pre-colonial Sri Lanka might only occasionally correspond to the experience of spiritually inclined people from different walks of life in, say, Chicago. Or, ditto, Cistercian monks in medieval France (or in mid-20th-century Kentucky?) Or to the experience of those monks' mothers and sisters. That is, it seems to me that the psycho-socio (economic, linguistic, gender, etc) constructs *shared* by the members of the groups responsible for our spiritual maps *set up* the members of those groups to be disposed towards one or more specific threads and recognizable stages. And, that our variegated and chaotic culture(s) does/do not predispose us towards any such similarity of experience. Or put it another way: stages along "the" spiritual path are not only evidences of spiritual development but also by-products of the surrounding society--somewhat as our reactions to covid are shaped not only by the characteristics of the disease but also by powerful societal forces.

Yes all of these threads show up in varying degrees at different times, and gradually yield to, or dissolve into, each other as the unseen script dictates. So amazing, weird, wretched, glorious, peaceful, silent, diaphanous, and deep. I noticed the same thing, that one thread would be prominent for a while, then gradually dissolve into emptiness or another thread. Finally it's realized that none of the threads go away, that they all meld together effortlessly and indescribably until there is only the ever-melting Isness. 🤪

Right on, brother in baldness. 😂 Dr Willoughby Britton has done some really incredible work categorizing and defining some of these states, paths, and destinations, as it were. One thing I've concluded from her work is that meditating/self-inquiry techniques do not all point people to the same destination experientially. Make sure to check what your interest in awakening/enlightenment really is, and then look to see that the technique matches your goal! If you want to be in the world, and have a job, and a family, perhaps a spiritual tradition where all the fully developed teachers/practitioners are solitary monks living in caves is not for you!
