I'm actually kinda shocked there isn't better VAR for World Cup qualifiers. Shit's kinda important to get right.
@huykim46636 ай бұрын
They will have to provide VAR to nations like Nepal or Laos (hosting North Korea’s matches) to keep all matches equal. The problem is, this is the AFC, they’re not rich like the UEFA (even with all the Arabs within the board as they ain’t gonna spend their private wealth for everyone). So as there are countries without VAR hosting the matches, they can’t implement it during this stage
@toobeast54856 ай бұрын
@@huykim4663I think the first commenters point is he’s surprised FIFA hasn’t required this from the other associations. Even though there are hurtles as you outlined, the downside is situations like this. Hopefully now there will be a higher standard of VAR requirements in these major international competitions.

@@huykim4663 That can only be done by making VAR mobile & efficient. There's VAR like system in Cricket for more than a decade. So over the years They have made these Mobile systems u can carry Everywhere . In cricket India is like the richest league & nation but u can see these systems everywhere in small cricket matches too. Football lacked behind all other sports to implement new techs early. Qatar has so much going their way since they were chosen to host the world cup, they were awful for so many years then suddenly win 2 Asian cups. As mentioned the Gulf States stick together. I remember where they tried to kick Australia out of the AFC for doing too well and changed rules when they could not, and suddenly went away when Australia started going down hill fast.

Not at all, people just like to hate on Qatar, They didn't "Suddenly win 2 asian cups", they have been pouring money into developing their national team for many years at this point and they naturally wanted it to culminate with the WC so it's just good development of hteir team tbh. I wouldn't say they have so much going their way because they hosted the WC rather they invested and developed their team because of that and that's what has made them a competitive side. ALso Gulf states absolutely do not stick together lmao. Qatar specifically was isolated politically for years in the gulf community and even arabs hate on qatar lmao. Here's the part that sucks: Refs (at least in the English PL) are told "if you aren't 100% sure, do NOT stop play, let VAR decide". I still can't tell from the videos we've seen whether the ball is in or out, people have to remember the whole ball has to be past the whole line to be out. If it's not obvious, I don't know how people (especially unbiased people) can be screaming rigged when the call had to be made in real time. Secondly, Qatar were ALREADY THROUGH and played a significantly weakened squad against Afghanistan and India. Why would Qatar rig a game that meant nothing to them? If anything, you could say it was rigged against Kuwait because they had to play Qatar at full strength twice, while Afghanistan and India got much easier rides. And not only that, but Kuwait STILL managed to get out of the group. Thirdly, if you stop playing on a call that is extremely tight before the referee has blown his whistle, you deserve to concede a goal. I'm not in any way saying the ball wasn't out (I'm not saying it was out either), but I'm saying it's too close to say definitively to conclude that there was malice, and there wasn't enough importance to the scenario to risk it

The thing is, the ball doesn't have to be on the line to be considered in play by referees. Even if the shadow of the ball covers some part of the line, that still counts as in play. Now I understand why people are mad about this decision (I mean the decision could've gone either way, if the ball was ruled out of play I think that would make sense too) but it is clear to me that this decision is up to interpretation and it's disingenuous to claim that the match was rigged based solely on this particular ruling by the referees.
