One thing not mentioned in the video is that since it wasn’t until extremely recently that Girona was anywhere near the conversation for anything above a relegation fight in La Liga, and due to Barcelona’s status and importance to Catalonia, Girona is not really a rival of Barcelona and there are many fans who would’ve had Barcelona as their “second team” or something of that nature. Therefore Girona fans will obviously be much less likely to get extremely angry with Lamine Yamal and do something irrational. Essentially, the original person who made the tweet that sparked the video is ignoring context to make their point.

It's really sad that black players get treated so differently for, well, first and foremost being a black person, but additionally for being "an annoying shithouse". I feel like Vini doesn't help the situation by provoking even more because antagonizing someone doesn't necessarily make them more open minded but this shouldn't be his responsibility in the first place. The problem is obviously the racism, a lot of us even like shithousery in football. Maybe in an ideal world if every black person was extremely calm, well mannered and full of love for everybody, even towards racists, then even some racists would maybe realize that blacks aren't inferior in any way, but that of course would be a ridiculous thing to ask from the victims of such abuse. Anecdotally there was a black guy who even befriended a KKK leader and it led to him quitting the Organisation because he was shown without a doubt how nice and smart blacks can be and that there is no real difference. My point is, hate produces more hate and love more love. I can't stress this enough though, it NEVER should be on blacks or any people affected by racism to meet these hateful people with open arms while some of them pose a real danger to their own life or at least make their life as a minority more miserable, directly or indirectly.

I want to start by making it clear that I do not condone this type of behavior in any way. However, I believe that in the U.S., far more emphasis is placed on the weight of words like the N-word or the F-word than we see in Europe. In Serie A, and more broadly within the Italian football community, there seems to be a lack of education and awareness about the true impact of these words. This could be partly attributed to Italy's own internal struggles with racism, especially the long-standing tensions between the North and South. Sadly, racist slurs and chants are still common whenever Black players score or commit fouls. I can’t think of a single instance where such behavior didn’t occur. In Italy, these words and actions aren’t taken as seriously as they are in the U.S. To address a specific point: when you mention that Vardy doesn’t face racial abuse when he scores, you're right-but that’s only because there aren’t equivalent slurs to use against him. Unfortunately, racial slurs in football are often used against players of all backgrounds. A clear example is the derogatory term 'zingari' (gypsies), frequently directed at Slavic players, particularly those from Serbia, despite the fact that most of these players have no connection to the Romani community. Football tends to bring out the worst in people, and the most offensive word a person can think of.
@lt1609Ай бұрын
Zealand the reason most of this fans do that is because they know it will affect the players. And the most racially abused players are usially the louder ones like Eto or Balotelli. To consider racial abuse to black players more serious than other forms of violence is the problem. Ask Maguire, Phil Jones, Andre Gomes, etc.

thank you for this take on the issue, you'd be surprised of all the whataboutism and justifications from the Spanish fans and now even youtubers... it's like either they don't want to see how using racial slurs is NOT OK even if the guy provokes them, or they're simply ok with people doing it... it was pretty bad before, but now even more, especially after he mentioned that Spain should not get the WC until they get better with this... the xenophobia and racism became more open, their excuse is basically that Spain is not the most racist country in Europe, why doesn't he talk about the racism in Italy or Sweden or some sh-t like that, and that Brazil is also a racist country, and that the guy pretty much asked for it because of his taunting them... it's ridiculous.. if they hate him, then they should get creative with their insults, but there is no excuse to use racial slurs

A few months ago in a local supermarket a young man was loudly having a break down as I walked in, he left by the time I got to the till with customers exchanging nervous chatter about all the fuss. It only occurred to me later that no one brought up his ethnicity during or after while for much of my life it wouldn't have surprised me if it was mentioned but the consensus seemed to be that it wasn't relevant. Same for Vini Jnr if he's being a prick, it's that simple.

The saddest part is that Yamal will most likely suffer this in the future as well. He is now a kid, a champion and the flavour of the month. But as soon as he makes the smallest mistake, some they will turn against him. Hopefully it will not be the case

1:22 I agree, at no point, under no cirumstance. Ever. Its disgusting and quite frankly stopid. For me it still kinda looks like racism is much less a reason for the hatred and much more of a tool used to demonstrate it because it has shown itself to be hugely effective at actively hurting and affecting Vini. I personally disdain it anyway. Call him a SOB and be over with it. Engaging is such behaviour is ridiculous.

As an American, I will never deny or make excuses for my country's racist past and even present, but it's time for the rest of the world to take a look at themselves and their own racist pasts and present. It may be a tough pill to swallow, but the rest of the world is just racist/homophobic/ or xenophobic as the United States are, and probably has been for a longer time.

James McClean has gotten a lot of sectarian and anti irish abuse from English fans week in week out but nothing is done about from the FA but if a black player gets abuse it makes headlines and the FA will do everything in there power to make sure something will happen
@Eric_Hunt194Ай бұрын
McClean doesn't get abused for being Irish or being catholic, he gets abuse for going public with his reasons for not wearing the poppy on his shirt in November. It's still wrong, he's entitled to his position and I understand it even though I don't agree- but it isn't "because he's Irish". I don't boo him like many do, mainly because when he gets booed you can pretty much guarantee he's gonna score!

Of course there are extremists, but most of the people aren't justifying the racism but instead saying that lots of what Vini perceives to be racism is just criticism of him specifically.
