Graduated in "87". I can remember my friends putting me down for listening to them. They were more into heavy music. It was the first time in my life I was ok with being me. Not caring what other people thought. They were just fucking good and I new it. Their music still picks me up to this day.....

I'm 50 and I'm ashamed to admit I have never heard of Zebra the band before. Wow. I mean, wow! Completely blown away! Their musicianship rivals so many of the bands that were around in the 70's and 80's. Grateful this was in my KZbin suggestions, just really sad I missed out on them when I was much younger. And for being a 39 year old concert Guy's kit and that rack look very modern! Thanks for posting, I'm a new fan of a band I shoulda known about long ago!

Don't feel too bad. My sister had a boyfriend in 83-84 that happen to have this tape and he always played Tell me What you Want. Then for some reason this band just kinda went away. Guess they put the 1 album out and it took all their creativity. That song always stuck in my head though 😂

Who's Behind the Door got a lot of airplane where I lived, first time I heard it on the air I thought it was something new from Jimmy Page. It's such a beautiful song. I was talking with my ex a couple of months ago about it and she's like who? So funny because she really loved the song at the time I guess it just didn't stick in her head.

So glad they recorded them so well at the time... They are great guys from my home town, NOLA. They worked really hard at it, playing fairs, clubs, and the Warehouse, and even had some competition in the local battle of the bands with my older brothers group TOYZ who didn't win but backed them up. I knew Randy, Felix, and Guy would make a success of it because of their way of spirit and truth, of music, love, and the people who love them. Their heart is in it and their spirit forever.

It breaks my heart how this band did not get the recognition and play time like other bands that hung out in Los Angeles like Ratt, Motley Crue, and Dokken. Randy Jackson is without a doubt one of the greatest rock singers of all time, when he rode that high note that he was so comfortable hitting it took you to that rock n roll place that journey we all seek when we listen to hard rock ! Zebra a great underrated band. 🤟🎸🥁🎶

They really had it together musically, like other bands that never went anyway (Hittman, King's X, Prophet, Griffin, Vyper, Halloween, Holy Soldier, so many others). The public is fickle and image plays a big part in capturing imagination and sometimes it is hard to say why some bands go far and others falter. Sometimes it is poor management too, and bad decisions, internal strife. etc.

@@mr.d.572 Another reason is Zebra (mainly Randy) wrote their best stuff over the early yrs back to the 70's and poured them all into their debut album. I remember hearing "take your fingers from my hair" on long island for 2 yrs before they were ever signed. That's why so many debut albums are great like Boston and then you have a yr or 2 at most to write another great album of brand new stuff vs all your best shit the 10 yrs before.

I forgot how I doscovered the boys. All I knew was I was drawn to em immediately. I turned my entire middle school onto them as local radio wasnt playing them. BCN in Boston was playing them and I am certain thats where I first heard them. Debut was a few weeks old and I went and snagged a copy. Tranferred it to tape so I could bring it everywhere. Saw em open for somebody....... Still working on when and where of that. They did a small dayes club type thing amd saw them in Prov RI. Man, that man can sing his ass off. Big fan since I heard them once. That was all I needed.

at the end....I think i can hear some Buck Darma influence har har Love Zebra. I got to see them in eastern Washington state in the mid 80's Super rare for a band with hits to be in our small college town but Hagar , Zebra, Night Ranger some how showed up. Large fun was had by all as the Red Rocker led the evening on his "I can't drive 55" tour.
