This is amazing!!! I feel like this game deserves a remake that betters the mechanics and combat, it really has so much potential, and your mockup honestly looks like everything it _could_ be. The animation and style change specifically is already loads better. The reimagining of Link as an older man was a surprise but one im willing to get behind! The change to the boss battle was fascinating! Honestly, brilliant work on this. It's such a breath of fresh air to see people put give Zelda 2 some love. Thank you.

Finally, some love for the maligned Zelda 2! This is such a unique looking take on The Adventure of Link remake. Bearded Link cut scenes, great idle animations, and a nice looking HUD. But best of all, the reinterpretation of the boss fights! Huge boss fights! I'm telling ya, that would knock the remake out of the park! I wish we could have collaborated for our mutual love of making Zelda 2 content! I'd loved to have seen your take on how to handle a retooling of the overworld!

Unfortunately I don't think this is anything more than a concept video, but you could watch the dialogue parts @ 2.0x speed and the gameplay parts at 1.25x ~ 1.5x speed. As for the video itself, the only thing I would change is to make things more faithful to the gameplay and existing lore of the original game (ie, no quick time-looking events in the actual Horse Head fight but an introductory scene like that would be amazing). Style-wise I would keep everything but maybe alter hair colors of VIPs to match their original in-game representations.

In Zelda 2 Link was a teenager, but some people do get facial hair early. I personally think it's a neat touch. Since Zelda 2 Link is supposed to be the same Link from Zelda 1 a few years later it conveys that this Link is older and more experienced through visuals alone. Damn I wish this was a playable game. I liked Zelda 2 but could never finish it because it was too tough. A modern remake with some tweaks to make things a little more forgiving and less "consult a walkthrough" cryptic would be awesome.

Frankly, looking at all the 2D metroid-vania games we have today, if Nintendo is really interested in making a remake of this game, I would give the project to "Glass Heart Games" studios. Glass Heart Games made "Vigil : The Longest Night". Apart from the lack of voice acting, the game's gameplay and graphics are top-notch ! A Zelda II remake with those kind of graphics & gameplay would be heavenly ! Go and watch some gameplay of "Vigil : The Longest Night", you'll understand.

Absolutely amazing! My only nitpicks are that Link and Zelda's hair are supposed to be dark brown and that he's 16. Although I guess you could argue that he's a sixteen year old with a long beard. One of the things I'm happy about is that you did exactly what Miyamoto wanted when he was making Zelda II AoL, which was the bigger enemies and I'm pretty sure everyone who played Zelda II as a kid imagined those enemies being bigger than they appeared. The Master Sword is a great touch but I definitely feel like it should appear as a obtainable weapon later in the game so that the Magical Sword is still relevant and so that Zelda 2 actually has a "new" sword upgrade
@retrograde63123 жыл бұрын
Thank you, really appreciate the kind words. And yeah, there were a few things I took creative liberties for. Tbh, I'm not a huge fan of Zelda 2, and wanted to create a version that was more approachable for newer Zelda fans such as myself. I was beating myself up over the hair for a bit, but I also couldn't imagine Link to the past without pink hair lol. Either way, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the subscribe as well.
@firionkaiser82913 жыл бұрын
@@retrograde6312 That's 100% understandable. I actually hated Zelda 2 when I was kid. I couldn't stand it. When I was 15 I had the sudden urge to play it and now it's in my top 5 (mind you I've played every game that was out at that time including remakes and remasters), been wanting a remake ever since. My dad's first game was actually Zelda 2, he was looking for Zelda 1 because I believe his younger sister lost her copy or the cartridge broke but he ended up finding Zelda 2 (at that boy it had been two years since he graduated highschool). He then got me Phantom Hourglass when I was six with a DS Lite for Christmas. Now I'm 19 1/2 (20 in July) with all the games beaten while I continue to wait for the next Zelda game to release as well as a Zelda 2 remake. Edit: By the way what made you think of Link to the Past? Luckily outside of sprite work ALttP Link has a dirty blondish hair color.
@retrograde63123 жыл бұрын
@@firionkaiser8291 Yeah, maybe one day I'll try to get beyond the first dungeon lol. As for the lttp mention, I beat myself up for not having the hair accuracy, but at the same time Nintendo shipped out lttp with a hair color glitch. Thankfully they rectified it in Link Between Worlds.
@firionkaiser82913 жыл бұрын
@@retrograde6312 Oh yeah true, if I remember right they did that due to the ponk bunny and wanted his hair to reflect that or it was something about the limitations preventing them from giving him blonde hair. In the end the hair is the lesser two of the nitpicks given. Link looking like he's in his 30's when he was ten in Zelda 1 and he was approaching his 16th birthday before he starts his adventure in Zelda 2 is slightly off putting for anyone who knows the story but as I pointed out before you could argue you he's 16 with facial hair (Hell I had a friend who already had facial hair when were in fourth grade, so we were 9 years old at the time). So that logic could be applied here and the best part is neither of these take away from the nostalgia and charm of the video!

Nintendo would be fools to not remake this in some way. Hell, I think it could be worthy of a full 3D rendition. The story is great for what the game was at the time, and could play up the whole thing with the Sleeping Beauty similarities. All the elements are there for a great game, just needs a few tweaks and a new coat of paint. Side Note: Zelda 2 was the first video game I ever played. I was born the year it came out and played it when I was 5 yrs old, all the way back in 1992, lol

I've only seen this now :>. Despite having only played Zelda II for the first time last year, I enjoyed playing it even if it was challenging at the last parts. The intro of this vid from 0:00 - 2:50 somehow gave me a strange resembling vibe of Shadow of the Colossus, and it made me wonder if Shadow of the Colossus was in any way spiritually inspired by Zelda II: Adventure of Link a long time ago? I love that despite being so many years ago, people come back to the classics of Legend of Zelda, expressing just how much they missed these games. I grew up with the gameboy era and had a share of experience from hard games as well, but it was only 2 years ago that I started playing a Legend of Zelda game, and I began playing from the the original first up to A Link to the Past. Not yet done with Link's Awakening, and still had a long way to go to finish Breath of the Wild. I'm surprised to know that I still love playing these games even if they aged for a long time already.
