Also btw for anyone that doesn’t know you don’t need to spam your buttons, your global GCD is rolling meaning when the GCD is about to come up to 9pm-12am on a clock 🕰 if you will, as long as the button you press.. is still doing it’s button glow animation after you press it (take a close look 👀 next time) you can press the button “early” or if you wanna think of it further you are just queuing a spell. Or if I can try to make it simpler sounding, when the GCD hand hits just before the top left corner of the spells square shape, you can effectively hit your next spell there once and it’s gonna roll. This has helped me take away a lot of the finger spam and with it the hand exhaustion from hours of gameplay. Hopefully this helps someone. As it helped me be less rampant on my NIN but still RIP MNKs. I saulute you. That job is like playing chess as an avatar, and if the boss even spins a micron while I’m on the the flank/rear connect of the boss hit box I immediately feel like I’m off-roading.

The reason it's called the Crap Guide is because it's one of JoCat's OCs: JoCrap that's teaching the lesson. Jocat is usually reserved for Lets Plays and Multiplayer fun (drunk or sober) and JoCrap is 90% of the time reserved for the Crap Guides. (If you haven't seen the Crap Guide to DnD, then you're missing out on the hilarity.)

6:51 Back in Wrath of the Lich King my guild was in ICC and faced Blood Queen Lanathel on 25 Heroic. We were not very well geared, it had just released on heroic. It was really coming down to the wire. She enraged at around 1%, flapping around the room and killing us off until ONE guy was left when she had 0.1% hp left. A hunter. He got his serping sting off and maybe one other ability and then he died. We had all died... until serpent sting ticked and she died as well. See there was a 0.5-1.0 sec delay from everyone dies till she resets and the serpent sting ticked just during that time. THAT'S how close it can get. *Never* slack in a close fight.

for some reason in my personal experience, button spamming doesnt actually help casting speed. Timing that button press for RIGHT when the GCD ends seems to be more efficient, not to mention the reduction of 'too early' dings if you have sounds turned on.......and lets definitely not get into keyboard lifespan. I feel like spamming actually adds time due to it still reacting to a 'too early' right when you are casting. i dunno feels faster and is definitely smoother than spamming in my opinion Edit: after actually messing with it, there is a small window BEFORE the gcd is over that if PATIENTLY pressed it will cast the spell the moment that the gcd ends....the window doesnt seem too small to me either.....more testing required
@rjmercer042
@rjmercer042 2 жыл бұрын
You are correct, if you hit the button at about 7/8ths of the cycle, it will seamlessly cast the next skill. The timing of it is easy on some jobs and less so on others, in my experience, based upon the pacing of the animations/sounds of the job (which is how I pace things, as I am looking at the fight, not the buttons).

You don’t need to constantly press the button. From what I’ve seen if you press it anywhere prior to 3/4 of the cooldown being over then it won’t use the attack. If you press it in the last quarter of the cooldown then it will use it. His point stood regardless, it didn’t matter when you pressed it exactly as long as it was before the cooldown ends.

Awesome thing about JoCat is that on his live streams he is a tender soul. Creative, very talented and a joy to watch. The character he portraits is doing the scolding of nooblieness, but if you are just hearing about him, go check out his channel and twitch work.

DPS seemed to be the most complex role in FF14 to me, despite having the least group responsibility. They generally got the most buttons, cooldowns and combos that need to be executed in the correct order at the applicable time between dodging mechanics. Mindlessly mashing your regular combo, using multiple OGCDs in a row to make your life easier or putting off using them till later will indubitably mean your DPS is pants. Ultimately much of it will rely on muscle memory so you won't have to worry what to push and when, so you can focus on positionals and not dying to make the healers life more difficult.

5:30, I think you confused, because you see the skill flashing (because someone is pushing the button) at roughly between 1/4 time remaining and 0 time remaining.
