So this is just a reality for people in Florida. There are populated areas that get hit literally every year. Idk why people settle in these area but it's not exactly unlucky it's a common thing.

@@lushen952 not on this level, that is asinine to state that it's a common occurence. yes Hurricanes ARE pretty common, but usually not at anywhere near the strength of Helene. that's just not true.

@UltimateGamerCC Bro watch the news you will absolutely see something like this literally once or twice a year. Every time it's the biggest one ever and then next year it's the biggest one ever...again. I know people that have been hit like 5 times in 10 years.

On top of the hurricane danger, there's a high probability of tornadoes forming around it. Even if some of us are less likely to be affected by the hurricane itself, the tornadoes are just as dangerous.

So I'm also in the crosshairs of that hurricane. As someone who has grown up and still lives in the area, the best thing you can do is not panic until 24 hours from impact since hurricanes usually tend to veer eastward and remember that the faster a hurricane is, the less damage it can potentially do. Fortunately though, hurricane season has never been this bad in a few years, and its not very often that you get multiple hurricanes beelining it for the panhandle like they have been this year since it's usually a harder spot for stronger hurricanes to hit. Either way, stay safe. If it's any consolation, I own my house here and have two cats that can't be safely transported, so I have no choice but to stay put through it. Should be fine since my house has stood through worse storms than this.

When I moved to Louisiana we evacuated for a cat 4/5. My friend joked about me not being a C.A. (I.e. Cajun) and it being okay that I'm panicking. I insisted I was fine. That night at the hotel on TV the news interviewed a girl from my home state who said had no clue what was going on and panicking not knowing if she will be okay.... Let's just say I did not hear the end of it the entire trip. At least I become an honorary C.A. after the hurricane.

I remember Michael, I pray Helene won't be anywhere near that strong. My uncle lives about 30 miles away from the coast and he lost power for over 3 weeks. If anything I would prepare for a possible prolonged power outage.

Relax and follow whatever procedures (if any) for your area. DO NOT evacuate unless the neighborhood is in a flood plain or instructed by city officials. During the storm itself, stay inside and away from windows. Do not go outside, make sure any pets are walked before hand. If you are in the eye’s path, the eye gives a false sense of safety. Most people go out thinking it is over and safe, only to find themselves in a dangerous situation as they re-enter the eye wall. Use that opportunity to quickly walk pets and observe damage on your property. The wind speeds they are talking about is in the region that surrounds the eye of the storm itself. If you do have to evacuate go west, not north.

Started watching your WoW videos recently didn’t know you were a neighbor 😆/Wave good vibes from Pensacola. Leaving for a week also never a bad idea. I rode out Hurricane Ivan in a hallway and we had a tornado go down our street it wasn’t a fun time. Just don’t come back too soon. We were without power for 3 weeks one time. Stay safe!

You're packing up to leave, I'm packing up to go in. There is a national call out for utility workers. I just spent the day going through the "battle wagon" (a heavy duty bucket truck) to make sure all of my tools and materials are in order. We're predicting 6-8 weeks of 14-16 hours days.

I'm palm harbor just north of clearwater...I'm worried it could turn south last minute like hurricane ian. Its creepy too because it happened on sept 28, 2022...this one is supposed to hit thurs night/fri morning (sept 26/27) 😢🥺...either way, make sure u have full tank of gas so u can GTFO if you need to, thats my plan lol
