What’s the humidity like there? I have kept my blued guns loaded and just after three weeks, the dang chamber rusted a little with those brass rounds in it. Suppose it was the oil from my fingers on the brass that did the rusting. I now don’t leave any rounds in the chamber or if I do, I pull them out and oil the chambers lightly every couple weeks with Ballistol. How often do you oil your guns? Specifically the chamber. I wipe them down often. These are blued Ruger Vaqueros I’m talking about, really prefer my polished stainless Rugers more for this reason.
@plowboysghost11 ай бұрын
I rarely oil the chambers and I keep mine loaded. Alabama can have humidity like breathe a wall of soup in the Summer. I wipe down the outside of my blued guns at the end of either every day I carry them or every other day I carry them...and I have no rusting issues. I use Rem Oil and Lucas Red or Blue.

I like the way you have a setup where you can sit upright and use a rest and I like that you are using 20 yards (tho I use 25) I do think tho that maybe resting the barrel is not the best way? I use foam blocks with a leather cover and rest my hand(s) on the rest. probly does not matter but it is said that resting on the barrel changes impact. I will try both to check for myself. One thing I do on guns that won't even get on paper or just if my target back has too many holes lol.. is to get real close to get something. Kudos on checking into the chambers vs bore. I do this on every revolver. with my cast and coated bullets I want my chambers to be bore dia or.... a thou or so bigger. And yeah.... I might have a shot or two to settle down a bit. Funny story... bear with me. Taking my buddies girls... both college students and nice girls. I was teaching them and just having fun. because they were nearly new to shooting I did not shoot myself but paid attention to them and what they were doing finally getting them to hit sodas at say 15 feet. they asked me why I wasn't shooting and I flippantly said that I did not have enough beer in me and held out my hand and showed them how shaky it was (fun fake) at the end of the day they said 'are you sure you don't want to shoot?' I held out my now steady (LOL) hand and said 'yeah... I think I have enough beer in me now' Fortunately I had my Colt Python there (which they loved the look of but found too big to enjoy) There was a paint can about 15 yards out and I took a shot... as it jumped up I da'ed a round and hit it... which was EXTREMELY lucky and then just shot the can on the ground 4 more times as it settled... I said "yeah... that was about the right balance of beer" Apparently they told that story at their respective prestigious universities (med student and history student) with.... varied results LOL... I also drive a 74 C10 chevy pickup lowered with 4 different paint jobs showing through and a late model LS computer driveline. I let em drive it not thinking they would be interested... but they posed for pics in front of it. Dont paint all young people with the same brush.
