The first episode of Smash Bros Hot Takes is here! Let's rage and get angry at some of the extremely ridiculous comments I got in this video but let's also take a moment to engage in thoughtful discussion. A lot of love went into this one and it's absolutely a series I wanna keep doing, so please watch until the end and drop a like and a comment down below with your thoughts on it! Thank you!

Hey Gonzales, you can throw any type of click bait my way because I know in the end, as I watch through the video, that you actually give me what I was looking for in the title. Zero, your care for critical thinking is something that is incredibly valuable to get out, not just for the people within this community, but for anyone. It is exactly the kind of thinking that helps people take responsibility for their perspectives on life and find convictions in the way they've lived. It's the kind of thinking that allows for disagreements to occur, but have no one walk away with hurt feelings. But above all, it's the kind of thinking that can get you and others closer to something true, rather than just something comfortable. It's refreshing to see this kind of thinking anywhere and I really believe you should lay into it even more (maybe you're already planning to). Thanks for the video, man, and please keep it up.

ZeRo’s overall progression is beautifully admirable. I’m so amazed at the content he’s been producing lately, and this might be the best thing I’ve seen from him yet. His videos are extensive, much less click-baity, and even his English skills have improved significantly. I think it’s a combination of: 1. His decision to quit competitive smash 2. His innate and substantial increase of maturity 3. The fact that his audience is so big now that he can actually talk about what he wants to. I am beyond impressed; especially since his content was so garbage just a year ago. Keep doing what you’re doing, ZeRo. You’re an inspiration.

Hot take: every new character in smash is considered op at some point, because low-mid tier players are unused to their play styles and struggle to cope with them, we only see the truly op characters when high tier competitive players struggle against them
@3.2187_Kilometres4 жыл бұрын
A perfect example for your comment is Hero. People raged about how he was op and ban-worthy when he first came out and now he's barley seen.
@joezenta25484 жыл бұрын
@@3.2187_Kilometres Well as far as I saw (basically leffen and his fanbase) were more like they wanted him banned due to his RNG factor. Most players knew he wasnt that good when all RNG factors were taken away. I think a better example is Ryu in smash 4. Back in the day even ZeRo thought Ryu was the best char in smash 4 (pre-bayo) because he only saw his glaring strengths without considering the glaring flaws.

This is actually the first time I heard you admitting that you can be a whiny person and I have high respect for that. Although I think that your competitive self is definitely part of the reason why the extreme Bayonetta hate was so widely spread among the Smash 4 community, I do think, at the same time, your personality and way of thinking outside of a competitive scene is much more mature and considered, which I personally enjoy about you. So at the end of the day, I always agreed with you quitting competitive gaming not because I hated to see you play(the complete opposite actually), but I really did not like how the competition affected your opinion and therefore you as a person. For me personally, you evolved by stopping to compete and I know many people will probably disagree, but this is just the way I saw it over all these years.

Time to take those hot takes : - Ice Climbers in Brawl is the most restrictive character, pretty much it can beat the entire cast with one single grab, while there are some characters who can give Meta Knight a run of his money, such as Falco , Snake , Marth , Pikachu , ZSS , etc. Ice Climbers just shut down all of these characters, forcing players to pick up Meta Knight JUST to fight Ice Climbers. Also , Ice climbers have one of the most degenerate gameplays on just camp for the chain grab, and they will get rewarded by playing defensive and not approaching, making most of their games into time outs. Personally for me , Brawl has great match ups like Falco vs Meta Knight that can go back and forth, and a lot of the top tiers have their own special unique tech that looks amazing. Like Falco's gatling combo, Marth downthrow into down air, etc. - Smash 4 from 2015 to 2018, I would say it has amazing tournaments like Frost Bite, Civil War , 2GG Championships, and the "Sagas". Though the main problem from Smash 4 that I see is that it was incredibly whack and inconsistent, a lot of the times, the best player did not win due to a jank gimmick and also because of rage. Making storylines really inconsistent, and upsets in Smash 4 did not felt like that special. Starting from 2017, at "Smash events" like The Big House and Genesis, it began to have less players participating, and less players going to Smash 4 events. - Melee to this day, people are still bringing new things to the table, a game with no patches , with no updates, and the players are still pushing characters , match ups , and techs to it's limit. Take Zain for example, he show to everyone that Marth can beat Hungrybox puff , and that you can win stack tournaments with solo maining Marth. He even took Roy (a low tier) and won a tournament with Top 30 players in attendance. And players like Amsa and Axe can still pushed characters like Yoshi and Pikachu, showing that the game is not just "the same 4-8 characters"

Hot Take: Sonix is the hypest Sonic player on the planet, but nobody cares because they remember the 3 times he timed someone out and conveniently forget all of the nasty reads, punishes and conversions he gets off of one hit during a set. He plays more aggressively than 6WX, Ken and Wrath but nobody cares because they see a Sonic onscreen and automatically assume that he's camping.

"Persons who neglect self-care to the point that they are negatively impacting the tournament may be asked to correct the issue in order to continue in the event." That’s an actual enforceable guideline for official Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments. How much worse can the smash community be than that?

@JerryMcB3rry4 жыл бұрын
28:19 I hate to bring zeRo's controversy up here, but I absolutely love what he said here about how we're all human and while those who are in the public eye are up on a pedestal and are held to a higher standard than everyone else. However, people, especially those in the public eye, should not best themselves up over mistakes they've made in the past, as that will not help their situation. I just wish zeRo is eventually able to truly realize this himself so he can heal and forgive himself from the dumb stuff he did before. Not saying it's ok he did that stuff, but he's not the same person he was then, and so why should he not forgive himself and move on.

for the whole “gamers are awkward take” that just further proves your take on how society judges you based on interests and possessions. as someone who is more of an athlete than a gamer, but plays both sports and video games a lot, another reason gamers are awkward is because of these stereotypes being put on them
@cileavictoria12294 жыл бұрын
Nah, what they were referring to isn't that. This isn't a "gamers are awkward" thing, this was something a lot deeper, complicated, and part of human nature.
