Hakeem is a top 10 player all time. One of only four players in NBA history to have a quadruple double. Could do it all at a high level. I used to have a book called Basketball Almanac where it listed the strengths and weaknesses of almost every nba player. Hakeem had like half a page under strengths and like one sentence for weaknesses. He didn’t take a lot of 3s. That was it. Criminally underrated.

IMO Hakeem's biggest low post weapon was his ability to attack quickly off the catch. the move he teaches Dwight on 0:14 is something I still have yet to see in anybody else. Embiid -- the closest player we have to Hakeem -- does not have that move. i have yet to see anybody else in today's game add that to their game. they have the moves, the fakes, or the spins; but none of them acquired the ability to attack and spin as soon as you land on two feet. this isn't a knock on the other players. I'm sure this particular move requires you to scan the floor and react accordingly if the spacing in the paint will allow for a quick spin. it's just mesmerizing to me that no one has yet to inherit Hakeem's ~complete arsenal. he was that good

Rule changes. Shaq was dominating so much in the low post that they made a 3 second defensive paint rule that prevented low post big men from staying dow low. And they passed a post up rule having players posting up for like 5 seconds before calling a violation. That made the role of low post big men irrelevant and prevented them from dominating.
