You guys are what started my oriental cooking obsession. I found your channel after searching endlessly to find how to cook Chinese takeaway style food as i used to eat takeaway Chinese 80% of the week, after trying your recipe, it was EXACTLY like the takeaway. Because of you i'm now obsessed with cooking oriental food (none takeaway style) and i'm now experimenting with different flavours and currently creating my own take on Korean dishes as i find the flavours intense which is yum. I just want to say thank you to the both of you, we rarely eat British dishes in our house now, once you understand the basic ingredients, its very easy to cook, the hardest part especially for Korean dishes is waiting for it all to finish cooking, some dishes take hours to prepare and cook.

Korean fried chicken is hard to beat and is quick, compared to something like bibimbap. I watch Maangchi on KZbin for Korean food. I feel the same as you. Had been looking for how to cook Chinese Takeaway food for ages. Found a couple of books but it just wasn't right. Along come Chin & Choo and everything I've made has tasted the same as my local takeaways.

For people who are scared of MSG crystals, you can buy dried Japanese kelp (dashi), throw it in your sauce and then take it out after 10 minutes. This will add the same type of flavour to the dish. It is the same chemical and it was actually discovered by extracting it from kelp.

I'm so in love with your mum in these. She's so natural, never phased, and somehow even remains delightful while consigning engineers and scientists responsible for halogen cookers to be binned... XD Thanks so much for these, as getting sweet and sour sauce right had always eluded me - I'd been using fresh juice rather than concentrated squash and I'd been missing the MSG, mostly because my ex had bad reactions to it (she always got migraines after eating almost anything with MSG).
@ZiangsFoodWorkshop5 жыл бұрын
Mum is awesome :) and MSG is naturally occuring in large amounts in most veg, soy sauce and cheese, and many many more foods. In fact your body naturally produces it too. And many studies into migraines and MSG have failed to produce any evidence at all, the migraine suffers due to MSG sensitivey in a double blind study guessed wrongly so often that even guessing should of statistically given more of a results. However who am I to say that it doesnt affect her, after all it possible for anything to tigger a migraine :)
