Beautiful looking kit and the one sample in this video sounds nice too. my only problem I have with this kit is I'm sure the cymbals are louder in the room than regular electronic cymbals.

Exactly, it would be great for these reviews to add some sound clips of the kits being played in the room (sans drum samples). My ATV aDrum hi-hat, for instance, is quite noisy and drives my family nuts.

That's a good call. We'll look to do that for future videos. I can tell you the cymbals on this ALCHEM-E are louder than rubber e-cymbals, but not as loud as the metal cymbals on DWe. Thanks for watching! -Dave

4:40 there is a crash sound where no crash has been hit.. is this the audio direct from the module or added afterwards?

I watched it several times and it looks like he side-sticked the bow of the ride cymbal which apparently triggered the edge detection causing it to crash.

It's confusing me because his technique doesn't seem to change at all which is why it was so jarring.

When v-drums came out I thought it was finally over for acoustic drums and everyone would switch within a few years. Didn't happen, obviously. Given the price, I doubt this system will be the acoustic-drums-killer either, but it must feel so nice compared to a regular electric kit.

Our church has already invested just last year in the new Roland V-Drums, but I like the cymbals. Do we know if they will make them available separately and configure them to work with the V-Drums?

I sure hope so. I imagine it will take a little while. But the highlight of this kit are the cymbals and having the ENTIRE Zildjian library of cymbals. It is also said they'll release new samples you can download as they make new cymbals. Which leads to the question, can other cymbal makers sample sounds and sell them to owners of this module?

A stand-alone cymbals only module would be awesome. You could get whatever drums and module you wanted and get the Zildjian cymbals and module. I wish someone would offer a drums only module with multiple bass drum, snare, and tom inputs, as well as aux. inputs for octoban triggers or whatever else.

I don’t think the cable passes a higher definition signal. It just gets power to the capacitive touch sensor I would guess.

It is interesting they did not go with USB instead. But I think you must be right on the POE portion. I'm looking forward to visiting NAMM this year to play with them and learn more and see how dynamic the cymbals sound and feel. There are a lot more pairs of copper in CAT5 cable that should be able to send more nuanced signal to the module. It would be a pity if they weren't leveraging that and still only sending basically stereo instead.

Agreed. I don't know what these people are listening to. If this was about $2k and sounded like this, then okay. But at this price, it's ridiculous. Terrible dynamics. If this came out 10 years ago, I wouldn't be surprised. Nothing revolutionary at all.

I think Zildian is a serious contender in the E-drum market with these kits. The cymbals are a big selling point. The module looks great. Yamaha and Roland need to step it up on their screens…what a joke. Tiny little screens😂😂😂

I do prefer more storage space in the module for more samples. I like the tiny screen of the Roland TD-17.

Pretty kit, ugly price. Since I’m more into EDM and Electronica, and the module has an all-acoustic sounds, as well as the high price, I'll pass.
