This is lovely! I am a needleworker and this reminds me of the hand-dyed threads I use. Seeing this gives me an idea for a project: wrapping a small box or frame in the alcohol-ink painted paper and then mounting one of my needlework projects in the frame or on the box.

I found it to be more difficult than the videos from experts show. I seem to end up with a yupo paper filled with color blobs, not wisps. Luckily you can wipe the paper clean the start over! It is a learning process, sometimes frustrating. I had success with the one where the new inks made a chain which you let dry and then start with small alcohol drops on their edges, then blow gently with a straw. Takes practice and I had to slow myself down. But I finally made one that looked good enough for a card front. Thank you Zimino Art.

So I’m watching some beginner/simple vids to find how to start. I think THIS is how I’ll start .. I have isopropyl & straws of many lengths & widths & ones that bend etc .. so you’ve just given me the confidence to start! .. now just to find a clear space to do it LOL! Much thanks again, it’s so appreciated 🙏🙋 from Aus 🤓

@@ziminoart7889 oh what a sweet reply, thanks :) I’m not on social media for a while now. I am positivelyhooked on instagram (I think, it’s been so long lol) but have not posted in years & didn’t post any art. My mother ChrissieKoltai (you’ll find her when you search that name, I think she has a painted portrait as her icon, she’ll be in my friends list too) is & has been an artist all her life. Mainly she is a choreographer & director. Nowadays spends most of her creative energy into her painting .. she just recently played with yupo paper again, but totally different technique than fluid, in a class she’s doing & seeing her results got me really excited .. although I don’t expect to live up to her level ;) You might really enjoy my mums insta she’s just churns stuff out & is always amazed that people like it hehe, & her art has changed SOOOO much from the art she did as I grew up as a young’n. She’s really branched out & not “precious” about it anymore, this seems to have been key for her to just blossom as an artist☺️ If I get going on insta again I will look you up for sure & when I figure out how to make some space to try this out I’ll let you know how I get on😊 I was just having a cuppa & a scone & thought I’d watch this vid again🤓🙋 🙏

I tried that stuff I mentioned that has 80% but also small amount of peroxide .. it at least showed me that higher level of alcohol really makes a difference. But I could see that going to 95+ will be MUCH better. Thanks for advice .. will let you know if I get that satisfying drop of alcohol onto the ink & see it completely “go through it” if you know what I mean🤓🙋
