Wilkinson pickups are my go to! Sound great for a fraction of the big name stuff (which are also made in China for the most part). Great low budget build!!

Yet another Zimmcaster success! And I do watch in part because you remind me of Jeff Spiccoli if he parlayed his dad's awesome set of tools into a successful guitar store and shop. Hey, that Tele has great Spiccoli-like vibes Dane. Maybe your first Spiccolicaster?? 😂😂

I’ve just completed a partscaster project myself. The body is a heavy hardwood, Encore Strat in red, for 3 SCs and no pick-guard which I instantly liked. The electronics weren’t working and two of the pickups were broken at the lugs, but I managed to salvage the centre one, and for the neck and bridge I used SC sized hotrail HBs, and it sounds great. But what’s blown me away is how low the string action is and without any fret buzz. I also thinned the neck down and feels really nice. I used a different neck because the original had a heel end trussrod which was inaccessible without removing the neck pick-up. The Finnish is that of a shabby sheek style. I have tried to suggest to Dane that he considers opening the community section of his home page, if he can, to subscribers pictures. I’d love to show it to Dane and his subscribers but I don’t know if that’s possible on YT.

Cool guitar. No pick guard looks so right on that one. I really like that bridge too.

Kudos! You didn't put a hole through the body on this one when you mounted the neck pickup lol. Last time you said that you learn from your mistakes and it looks like you did. When I build a partscaster, before I drill the neck holes, I put the outer two E strings on so I can get them lined up.Then I hold the neck tight (it's hard to do with one person, I guess you could use a plastic C clamp), and with my other hand I poke an allen wrench with some nail polish on the end through the holes on the body and mark the neck. THEN I drill. You won't always get lucky and be able to move the neck where you need it afterwards. Oh, And not so many wraps with locking tuners; pull the string through taut, lock, and tune. Anyway, very good. The body's got that nice, worn, vintage look, I dig it. \m/

No pickguard looks good, but the white one looks good to. I love making parts casters. I’m building one now that has a modified tele body that I modified I painted it Red got a neck from GFS for cheap the body was given to me for my birthday last year. I had some parts but had to buy some parts as well.

The way that body is all beat-up makes it look badass - that could sooo be someone's stage guitar. Partcasters are just so much fun.

Nice build Dane. I’d put a notch in the top route so it’s easier to get to the truss rod. There are right angle adjustment tools just for that.

My best Telecaster is a partscaster. Partscasters just like any guitar are a crapshoot. Sometimes you get parts that work and resound together amazingly and other times you get dogs. My best Telecaster now is an over 30 year old Warmoth body mated to an 11 year old Musikraft Blackguard style neck with all Fender hardware and a Seymour Duncan Broadcaster pickup set. It is magical; light, beautiful playing neck and killer sounds. I have heard good things on Wilkinson pickups and hardware but I haven’t tried them; they look well made. I believe this one looks better with the white pickguard on.

I like what you do with these old bits and pieces bangers and I'm not being rude but I wouldn't mind you getting someone that plays a six string to show off what they sound like occasionally.

I’m gonna start a partscaster build once my budget permits. I bought a 99 dollar Squier Bullet Tele in red sparkle, somebody modded it and put a pickup in the middle position. Guitar sounds great but the fret work is crap. A new neck is (hopefully) gonna turn it into one of my favorite axes!

Does a Chinese (I think) Les Paul SG Special getting parts from a Chinese Les Paul that's getting a Kit of EPI ProBuckers with the pots and switch already wired up ! Don't know what to call it. A PARTSPAUL ? PARTSLES ? I'm SO Confused !! I'm not sure what is in either right now. The Les actually sounds Great. The SG at full volume is hard to hear-weak. A change is here !

He kinda did - he showed most of it. He glued wooden dowels into the original holes on the neck, leveled them off so they're flush with the neck and then he would have just had to put the neck in position so he could drill the new holes and screw it to the body.

@jamesadams1064. Yup - Including the wrong way. Lockers alleviate the need for several winds around the post and make for super quick string changes. If someone enjoys winding their strings for days, by all means use standard tuners.

Oh, and STOP CLIPPING THE STRINGS TOO SOON! Seriously, though--locking tuners don't need that much slack. Pull the string through, pull it tight, lock it, stretch it, tune it--done!
