@@jakenewfield Hi Jake. At 2:15 you're wrong and so mistaken about France ! France isn't an ethnic country ! Im french and my parents have a north-african ethnic bakground, but we're all french ! If i have to describe for you my country, France is a secular (France invented separation between church and the State), and equalitairian and feminist Republic ! The only ones that still represent France in their mindset or fantasies as an ethno-State are the fascists and the far-right in France ! France is the country of "lacité", of the declaration of Human rights of 1789 that's part of the french constitution. And your arrogance and fantasies thinking that your radical views applies to all countries (if Israel is an ethno-State then everybody else is an ethno-State and so France must be one and so it's okay for Israel to be one when you're wrong all the line about what the reality is and what the reality should be coz you're thinking the World not as it is (France isn't an ethno-State) but as you want it to be (France falsly in your opinion being an ethno-State) shows how much out of touch and how arrogant and obnoxious you are ! So why you just be humble about yourself, and how ignorant you are ? And learn a bit about the world and the state of countries ?!!! You're so obnoxious ! Shut up ! Are there french that consider themselves ethnically french ? Yes, but they are on the far-right and it doesn't make the country ethno-centered ! Also the french-europeans are of so various backgrounds ! The latins of the south aren't the basques that aren't the flemish of the north of France that aren't the britons that are celtic that aren't themselves the people of Alzace and Lorraine that are from a german background !!! So what do you know ? Nothing !!!! Please shut up !!!!! Also it's wrong for Israel to be an ethno-state of the jewish people coz the palestinians that are still there, have their grand-grand-parents and all their ancestors trace their ancestry to that land SINCE THE LAST 6 000 YEARS !!!! Palestinians that are born there IT'S THEIR HOME TOO !!! THEIR FROM THERE TOO !!! Shut up !!!! You seem so ignorant ! Shut the fuck up !

France isn’t an ethnostate nor is Germany. They are states for their own citizens despite their races, religions and ethnicities. A German ethnostate would have been a Germany led by Hitler. That’s what ethnostates do, they exclude others whom they deem might pose a threat to their ethnic dominance. Imagine being a Palestinian watching two people debating in their English language and from thousands of miles away about whether it’s ok to steal your homeland or not. It must feel so good to hold dual citizenship. One of the most powerful country in the world and another of the most powerful country in the Middle East with nice beaches for winter vacations away from Brooklyn’s freezing weather.

A Palestinian ethnostate exludes Jews from living in it because it poses a threat to their raison d'etre of being a Judenrein state that is supported by other Judenrein states who want to control their own populations through antisemitism thousands of miles away. Imagine being a Palestinian and seeing imams and rulers thousands of kilometers away supporting your cause while their country fails through a push of blind extremism in an attempt to get back land that your family had lived on for a few hundred years. Every generation will be a new Muslim leader who needs to push lies as to why their countries cannot support their populations real dreams.

The only countries that are really not an ethno state are the English speaking colonial countries. They genocided the ethnicity that had historical ties to the land and created an artificial country where everyone is equal *except* the original ethnicity that lived there for thousands of years. Who wants to live like that?
@IvorNovello1125 күн бұрын
It’s not an ethno-state, you have Muslims, Christians, Druse and others living under the same umbrella. Germans had to leave East Prussia and so many other regions, kicked out of lands they have lived in for hundreds of years, you see the same outrage about their destiny? Hindus had to leave Pakistan when that state was established? Why are the Palestinians Grievance so much worse than others? They need to move on, it’s time to turn the page a long time ago
@rayan51505 күн бұрын
@ it’s literally an ethnostate with a law that clearly defines it as a Jewish state for the Jewish people (not for its citizens). Minority of other ethnicities live within that ethnostate that is for the Jewish people despite the land being their own land. Germans didn’t have to give away their historic homeland for Arabs moving from another continent just because they believe god gave them Germany. India and Pakistan is not the same thing. It would have been the same thing if Arabs and Kurds decided to live in two independent states. NOT ONE STATE ON TOP OF THE OTHER.
@Franvvard2 күн бұрын
An ethnostate is NOT a country that has a majority of one ethnic group if that was the case 80% of the world would be considered ethnostates. A country is only an ethnostate when it has laws caters to one ethnicity over all others. Israel is and simultaneously isn’t one. It isn’t technically one because there isn’t a Jewish ethnicity. A Moroccan Jew and polish jew have no ethnic or cultural ties at all. But it is an ethnostate because it considers Jews as an ethnicity literally allows any Jewish person around the world to come a move there. Benefiting from right that the indigenous people don’t even have. It’s simple if you stop thinking of Judaism as an “ethno-religion” you realize Zionism isn’t even about the religion and it’s just another colonial project.

Like honestly you don’t seem like a horrible person but at this point if you’re still doing this type of mental gymnastics around colonialism then you need some serious self-reflection. I get that the whole liberal Zionism thing (which you were trying to articulate) is about Jewish people being defined as a group by their shared experience of persecution, and the state of Israel being some romantic dream of freedom from that persecution. I’m deeply empathetic. As were hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who shared their land willingly. Actually to say I’m empathetic would imply some detachment. I see Jewish safety and freedom as my own. But Zionism isn’t a philosophy or some abstract element of Jewish thought. It is a reality endured by millions for almost a century. It’s a century of bloodshed, torture, and dispossession. The precise nature of Zionism and its ultimate destiny should be decided by its victims not its perpetrators. Thank you for having the guts to upload this interview but I hope you rewatch it and realize that when you open your mouth at every point, white imperialism is all that’s spilling out. There are thousands of Jews and even Israelis everywhere right now that stand not in solidarity but in full co-resistance with the Palestinian people. I get that it’s scary to jump ship but there’s no excuse.

Thank you Rabbi Shapiro, you are a truly important voice. I love jews, but I really hate zionism (Can you believe it?) It all started reading the UN-JEWISH state by Akiva Orr. Made be start using my brain about Zionism. Especially Christian zionism, which I was a part of, more or less by default, I just accepted it as a fact. Of course I have to support Israel. I wondered how it could lead to such a bloodshed, considering judaism and christianity when not interpreted in an extremist way, should bring light to people, not blood. Again, thank you Shapiro for being a voice

I assume making vids shorter always makes people more likely to click. (For that reason, I started dividing videos into a 2-minute part 1 of 2 followed by a 20+ minute part 2 of 2.) For a highlight except like this, another consideration is: Would trimming away ten min from the end tighten up the intensity and leave people more likely to click over to watch the full episode. Not that you got me thinking about it, I wonder if clips like this one might be optimally less than 4 min, and that way people are less likely to feel like they've ... like... watched enough already, or something.

Assimilated Jews and people assigned Jewishness, people who fought for Germany in WW1, people who fought for France in WW1 were persecuted and targeted for annihilation. Jews are save in the Diaspora so long as the states don't chose to target them. In a Jewish state the police and armed forced are motivated to defend Jews. This is the fundamental reality of the matter.

25:00 From this point you can see how the Rabbi is confused. He mentions that the Jews are a religion and not a people, yet he mentions that there are concepts of family and tribe. He also confuses time periods. The Torah wasn't given to the Jews when they were identified as Jews, it was given to the Israelites. It wasn't until after the split of the two kingdoms that Jews became an identity within the Israelite identitiy. The language of the Jews was Hebrew, until the first exile which started the globalization of the Jews [see Isaiah 36 and 2 Kings 18]. The globalization of the Jews caused the Jews to speak different languages, but their tongue was Hebrew, that is why the Rabbis of old chose Hebrew as the language of prayer for the Jews to strengthen the unity of the people. This Rabbi is doing a dis-service and acting as a politician instead of a Rabbi. A Rabbi need to be aware of the different time periods that the Jews lived in and be able to convey the ideas based on the cultures they lived in. He is using modern terminology, and thinking, and shoving ancient ideas into his modern interpretation of Judaism. I would ask any Rabbi that says that we are not a people but only a religion then why aren't convert 100% Jews? Why if a convert marries a convert then their children are still considered converts? Genetic are also a part of being a Jew not only the ideology. The Rabbi is wrong, which is why his ideology goes against the ideas of most Jews around the world.
@Uzaair4 күн бұрын
He's not confused. He's making perfect sense. The very early converts to Judaism were considered Jews in every aspect of the term because it is, first and foremost, a religion. Anyone who holds the view of '100% Jew' based on supposed genetic heritage is, quite frankly, misguided in their thinking.
@yatziv184 күн бұрын
You are talking from an outsiders perspective. What does early Jewish converts even mean? It was a family, then tribe then nation. One doesn't need to be 100 % geneticly Jewish to be 100% Jewish. Talk to a learned jew to get clarity.

This Rabbi has an issue with the Children of Israel using 0.02% of land in M.E for their homeland. Muslim Arabs rule 99.98% of M.E yet this Rabbi seems to think Jews being back in their ancestral home is a bad idea despite the Quran, Yes thats right, the Quran confirming the fact that the land was assigned to the Children of Israel. M.E is a tribal region meaning Israel is a neccesity.
@TommyTumma4 күн бұрын
Ashkenazis are NOT from that land. Thats why DNA tests are prohibited in Israel. Also, any Jew who wanted to was allowed to move to Palestine since forever. @BuRidah-7774 күн бұрын
You have no idea what you’re talking about. Expansionist ideology (greater Israel ) does not make up 0.02% of the land. You’re supporting never ending wars and suffering. There’s something unG-dly about that thirst for blood and land.
@adamk57004 күн бұрын
@@BuRidah-777 Israel including Gaza & West Bank account for 0.02% of land in M.E. Please feel free to prove me wrong. Regarding expansionism Israel took the entire Sinai Peninsula in 1967 war but returned it post 1979 Peace Agreement. If your talking never ending wars then you will have to look at Arab world.
