The Zipper is absolutely one of my all-time favorites! So much so that I was actually disappointed to have learned that North American Midway Entertainment, which apparently provides for a large portion of Chicagoland's carnivals and fairs, sold and got rid of their Zipper!

It is shockingly fast! What always catches me off guard is when the track rounds the tips of the boom, near the wheels. Never know what to expect when that happens. I remember traveling on side of the boom completely upside down because the weight of the car wasn't heavy enough to rotate it. Wish I could do that again! Ahh memories.

@jwallbanger Thanks!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I love when the cage flips around the ends of the boom, it's such a rush!! Have you ever been stuck facing the ground but still moving? That used to happen when I was younger, but not now :-/ Anyway, suchhh a good ride!! Too bad they had to slow it down...peeps be throwing up too much, haha.

Really? That happened to my friend too. This ride can be brutal on phones. I was just at Six Flags yesterday, and saw a phone break into pieces on a roller coaster. Probably one of the coolest things ever, lol.

@randomchiick1 that's awesome! Good to know that you enjoyed it, woot. Have you tried leaning forwards and backwards in order to get more flipping action? It usually works, especially if you weight a lot, haha. Guarenteed to have a better ride then. Good luck!

The Zipper used to be such an awesome ride when I was younger. I used to go on 4 or 5 times in one carnival day. Then the "No Single Riders" laws took effect, flared up nationwide, and now no carnival with the Zipper is fun anymore.

triton115 I'm really upset that they have the "No single rider" restriction because in order for me to ride it, I always have to bug my friends to go...really a pain in the ass! They should put that restriction with a height limit because someone my size (6 feet) cannot move my feet outside the bar lol.

triton115 I kind of wish they remodeled the ride to 21st century standards (ridding it of rusted parts) because I'm sure they could overlook that policy with safer gondolas...maybe not, but it wouldn't hurt to give it a paint job at least.

@MusicmyPassion013 Hmm, personally I don't experience it because I've ridden it many times. Although people, and I, have felt their stomachs drop, especially when rounding the wheels on either end (which produces a blast of speed which has been known to be particularly heart pounding). Also, flipping repetitively down the boom can have that affect too. So...I would say yes, it does have that affect!!

Oh yes, actually. That bar can be quite painful. It's literally just a metal bar, very rugged and boring, lol. I find that the best way to rock the car is to push yourself forward into the little head room and that throw yourself back into the seat.

Lol, I know what you mean. The person I was with had never ridden the ride before so she didn't know what to expect-probably why she screamed. I personally can ride it without screaming, but I find screaming enhances the feeling of the ride. But that's just me.

brings back memories, in 6th grade, i made all of my friends ride it with me untill they were compleatly sick. then to top it of, made them all go on the gravitron, then i didnt let them leave till the end of the day. we rode it like 8 times in a row xD i love fairs!

I want to ride this one in Australia that travels at the original speeds (FAST!). It's called "Dean Davis Zipper" and it means business. I love the noises too, they just make the ride what it is now. It can be really bad for your neck, especially if you're a tall person. When I ride it, my knees touch the gate. While on the plus side it holds me in, flipping the car on my own becomes ever more difficult.

It was a pretty long ride. If I had it my way, I would have been on the ride for much longer, but I was still happy that when the ride operator stopped the ride, my cage continued to spin, haha. Love when that happens!

@phammh08 yeah, this ride can get pretty crazy. Although this is nothing compared to when my friend and I at our annual carnival did 107 flips, which was like 70 manual ones though, but still a lot of flips. This ride never gets old

THE TRICK for riding the Zipper from an old timer (compared to you all) ok the trick is to concentrate on flipping it then youre 1 not scared and to you wont get sick, like my poor kiddo ,who didn't get a drop on his buddy.. 2 if you put your head at the top and feet at the bottom then sorta make your body tense and straight like planking inside the zipper you wont move there for you wont hit your head. and lastly to the girls down the wall, your a$$is going to leave the seat that's normal unless you do the head feet thing then tits never on the seat to begin with... its been my favorite ride since i was 11 when i first rode it!! well before wristbands but id still go on it a good 6 times in a day, it was back in the day with the pervie Carnies that would let you on for free with a sweet, pleeeeeeze,ad tight jeans.. i shudder now at the thought..lol..
