When you buy a new lighter, taks out the cotton balls and group them together in 2 long strips, get the wick out and pre bend it like shown in the instructions, get a knife and put the wick in already pre-bent. Than with your knife pull the wick on one side and put half of the cotton through the opening, after that with the knife move the wick (Which should still be bent like in the picture) to the other side against the cotton, now put in the other strid and woila now the wick will ne saturated as it should be and not crumbeled up or squished to 1 side as they come.

@@manabjaman6205 get like a zipp lock bag (for the quality of the plastic) cut it to be a little wider than the zippo insert on all sides and put the insert in the case and it doesn't evaporate nearly as much, you can also buy cotton bacon used for vaping and wicking and do it with that cotton and it will evaporate much slower, search zippo fanatic 77 outdoors for more info

A curious question about the warranty… I know you are eager to repair or replace what is broken with no questions asked. But what if i bought the 18k solid gold Zippo that cost a fortune and had some serious dent or lost a whole lid of it due to broken hinge, would you then replace it?

Hey Zippo, got a question, I'm from the Philippines, weather here is hot and humid, my Zippo lighter only last me 3 days max and need to refuel, is that normal? I followed the proper packing of rion balls and S shape wick, and used Zippo fluid.

Philippines is a tropical country and can be quite humid, so your fuel evaporates at a faster rate than in cooler countries. Fuel is a liquid and liquids tend to evaporate faster in warmer/hotter climates. So, you either have to find a way to prevent your fuel from evaporating too quickly (ex. Use a lighter gasket, an o-ring seal, cover the bottom using a piece of thick plastic to trap moisture, or find an insert that has a sealed bottom), or, accept that you will need to refuel more frequently.

kinda confused at when the fuel starts coming out. Is it when I open the case or when I start the flame?

the wick is what holds the fuel, it is always wet with the fuel (given that your Zippo is filled), when the flint is sparked, the fuel in the wick catches the sparks and lights up, when you close the lid, you cut out the oxygen that the flame needs to keep going, cutting the flame out.

1. Remove the insert 2. Unscrew the flint spring 3. Remove the felt pad 4. Use a coin to twist between the two walls of the insert in two different spots 5. Reinstall felt pad and flint spring 6. Test and adjust or repeat as necessary. Boom, should have greatly reduced or eliminated insert ride-up.

it went over what was in the package, it did not get me started at all. i know how to use a zippo already, but it seems like my wick burns out too fast, so i thought i'd see if zippo showed you the "proper way" to use one. thumbs down this did not get me started using my zippo.

Without the warning, some idiot would claim compensation when his nylon pants caught alight, even if it was not his zippo that burnt them. A few years ago, this advert was withdrawn, after a guy tried it out, obviously wanting to get his jeans off when he was in a hayloft with his girlfriend.
