I know this video is old but I wanted to comment saying thanks for this comparison. I had been looking through youtube and yours is the first video I've found that featured every replica year which is what I wanted.

coojsta69 The 41' replica is great. That shape was from 1938-1941. I have 4 1938-1939 originals that are my favorites to carry.

I have the same Camel emblem 1932 replica that you have. I bought it from R.J. Reynolds using "Camel Cash" in the late 1990s. Mine happens to have the best fitting (perfect alignment and perfect degree of hinge tightness) and smoothest operating lid that I've ever seen on a Zippo. You know how when you close the lid on a Zippo, you can normally feel and hear a bit of metal-on-metal roughness as the cam slides along the inside of the lid? With my 1932 replica, it is as smooth as greased glass; you hear and feel no roughness whatsoever. However, I've rarely used that lighter (it is still like new), because it isn't comfortable to use or carry in my pants pocket, due to the sharp edges and corners that you mentioned. Plus it is significantly larger and heavier than a standard Zippo, so that doesn't help either. I just take it out to look at it from time to time and marvel at how smooth it is when you close the lid.

Nice little vid. I own a 1935 and was contemplating getting a 1932 but actually won't. The 1935 has really grown on me now and as you mentioned even though it is shorter I actually like that as it makes the Zippo a kind of stand-out. It's just a question of getting used to it. Thanks for your info.

I love the 41 replica. Is one of the best for me. I see it more tough and reliable than the actual Zippos. BTW, nice knife!

the 1937 replica is the best looking zippo in my opinion. basic and simple but very nice.

@UltimateSh1t 1935 has an external hinge. 1937 does not. 1935 has a hollow rivet for the flint wheel, 1937 does not. 1st one is the 1932 replica.

You sound very authoritative like a KZbin expert. I however, have never seen a zippo with two hinges, (i.e., one real and one "fake"). As a machinist and sheet metal worker, I would say that some hinges are fastened externally, some internally, and some hinges are fastened both internally and externally.

@ToaOfFlameV3 Holding the lighter facing you, on the left side of the cam there is a bit that has been removed on the bottom of each side of the cam. It's hard to say in text, but if you looked at the cam straight on (looking from cam to flint wheel) the shape of it would be more of a "U" shape. You need to look at a pre and post 2003 insert to see this. 1941 replica has this too.

So, what are the implications of a three barrel external hinge, as opposed to the modern one? I'm assuming the external hinge would be more fragile and prone to bending, am i right?

You said that if you're going to alter the size then at least make it taller like the modern ones...surely the point is to make it the same as the original?!
@ToaOfFlameV313 жыл бұрын
Ughhh...This has been bugging me since you posted this video, LOL. What do you mean by chip in the cam? Like, how the more modern cams sort of curve in on the bottm of each side? You mentioned it on the 1935, but not the 1941. Does this mean that the 1941 is a perfect replica? Because when you were speaking about the 1935, you said that Zippo introduced the chip in 2003, but you didn't mention it when speaking about the 1941. Also, were the original cams tinted dark grey like the modern ones?

Where did you get the 1933 zippos?

I think your 1933 does not have the original insert. I assume you are not it's first owner.

@@Speedogg138 I apologize I just watched explanation. I was one of them comment before the end of the video people. It's a same the 1933r is not like they were. I have a 260 1937 vintage series. Made J 02. I like that one two. I'm in doubts it's a replica. Like the others. But a "vintage look" but really it don't worry me. As it's in use and tell my armour lands in Australia. Then that will be my EDC. Again sorry. I assumed. But I'll love to find some old 2nd hand Zippos.

@Mystninja5 жыл бұрын
@@joannevictoria6024 unfortunately the replicas are a dime a dozen. If it was a original. Then you may have something worth selling. I think hold on two it a few more years. When stores run out of stock. And before there remade again. Just think in 2033 a original would be worth a house and land.
