I thought it was the original M16 that always jammed. I thought the M16A1 fixed many of the problems with the original M16 (and also around that time the military started realizing that the damn gun doesn't clean itself).
@Victor-056 Жыл бұрын
@@ndinoguy6845 Only by a little. When compared to the XM8, it jammed nearly a thousand times during the trial and it's other challenger did not do any better, while the XM8 Jammed roughly only four hundred times. The only reason the XM8 did not replace the M16 was because it was not a physical copy of the M16. (It becomes pretty clear the only reason they accepted the HK417 at all, was because it was based off the M16 in image and how the gun was chambered. Other than that, it was pretty much a different gun.)

I get its a funny haha joke but yall do realize that the joke being made here is literally just: Things are called after what they do, isnt that quirky? Like, i get that the german words may sound funny to englishspeakers, but isnt this literally how all languages work?? Englisch does it the exact same way as German, shown by the Grenade Launcher example. Or even the og meme here, ze Flammenwerfer. Literally translates to Flamethrower. And what does it do? It throws the flame. Es werfs (or "wirft" would be grammatically correct) die Flammen.

@@goothedoot that is a terrible fucking example lol, thats an acronym and not even an english one^^ but ill give you that i should have included "what they do/who made them/when they were made/what they are. Because lemme blow your mind, do you know what AK-47 stands for? Its a russian Acronym and it means: A=Avtomat which means "automatic" in Russian K=Kalashnikova wich is the name of the guy who designed the Gun 47=1947, as in the year the model was invented. So AK-47 literally means "automatic Gun made by Kalashnikov in 1947". And thats about as close to what i said as it gets aint it?^^ And this method rings true for almost everything, especially in English. And even the words that may not sound like it actually did come from this same mechanic, they are just lendwords from other languages that English absorbed over its history (mostly French, Latin and German) so you dont recognize them as such and still almost always just describe what a thing do, look like, is, or who made it and when. Thats literally the core function of language^^

It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't. In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was. The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows. Because a variation has modified some of the information the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice-versa, and by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be, and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error.

For those wondering, the only ones I am 100% certain are not proper translations are the Messerschmitt or "Knifesmith" (named for Chief Designer Willy Messerschmitt) and the FockeWulf or "People Wolf"(Properly Focke-Wulf, named for company founders Heinrich Focke and George Wulf). Neither of those is actually used to refer to the plane, instead being the manufacturing company. There is also the Maschinengewehr or "Machine Rifle". It's use includes but is not limited to rifling machinery, at least in the sense of riddling it with rifle bullets, so I'll count it. There is also the StuG, which sort of Stugs. Full name Sturmgeschütz or "Assault Gun" (Sturm meaning storm, as in "to storm") it is both a geschütz you sturm with and the thing you use to sturm a geschütz. I'm counting this too, partially because in Dutch the word Stug refers to something "stiff, resistant, headstrong, or inflexible" which the StuG very much was.

And the Nebelwerfer which doesn't werf any Nebel. It's a multiple rocket launcher.
@pretzelbomb6105 Жыл бұрын
@@Jehty_ I'll have to disagree on that. Nebel means fog or smoke, which any rocket launcher will produce in consistent amounts during use.
@Jehty_ Жыл бұрын
@@pretzelbomb6105 nope. Nebel = fog -> water droplets Rauch = Smoke -> gas and very small pieces of carbon that is produced when something burns Edit: in the military sense "smoke" can mean "Nebel". A "smoke grenade" can be called "Nebelgranate". But the Nebelwerfer in this video isn't called Nebel because of the smoke it creates. It's because it was part of the Nebeltruppe (a branch of the Wehrmacht/SS originally for chemical warfare, later also for rocket artillery). And the name "Nebelwerfer" was used for the multiple rocket launcher as a cover name for that new kind of weapon.
