Just because he became Zlatan we know of today doesn't mean there were any guarantees he would. There are many exceptional talents that don't become world class in fact the ratio is extreme. Arsene did it right Zlatan was a 17 year old lad who had talent and he needed to show it to be a one of the best clubs in world that he refused.

Zlatan has a point. Why fly a teenager out ? print with a shirt name and number to then ask him to do a trial ? I don’t think Wenger has ever done something like this. Clearly, what happened here is initially Wenger HAD planned on signing Zlatan … but upon meeting, talking and spending time with him decided that a trial first would suffice to at least feel him out more and to see if he would stick around. I don’t think Wenger would ever question his ability more his attitude and him declining the trial effectively confirmed his suspicions.
