what zlatan said at the start was just perfect, sure it may sound stupid to others but when you want to achieve something you can't tell your self "oh i know i suck, these guys will beat me so easily" because if you do then you won't go up you won't achieve anything. Instead we tell our selves that we are the greatest, we are the best and no one can beat us. This the only way we can move up the ladder and achieve what we want.

Unreal video thank you Sam. I’ve always had this type of positive delusion naturally but some recent performances and off the field worries have made me question then but this video was exactly what I needed. The fact we get free access to a mind like yours, and the fact you hold nothing back is truly amazing Sam. That reminds me I need to pick up your lates product😤😍

Hi Sam, Zlatan was a great player, no question. However, he was very much a love / hate figure. Whilst your video does a great job on analysing his mindset, the question in my head is this. As a coach, responsible for helping mould potential greatness in someone like Zlatan, is it a mindset you could support during his/her development? Or would you lean more towards the self-efficacy model? Interested in your thoughts.
@SamMartinPeakPerformance11 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing Jeffrey - and yes I agree, Zlatan of course is a love/hate figure. And I think it depends on the individual coach + their philosophy. As seen, Pep Guardiola thought Zlatan rocked the boat too much with his ego and swiftly dumped him after just 1 season. Whereas other coaches like Mourinho had no qualms in supporting Zlatan's often borderline crazy mentality. I think the self-efficacy model is one I'd personally lean towards more with 'uncut gems' i.e. those who are only somewhat aware of the greatness they could achieve and need that greater structure/guidance to build out their belief in becoming the master of their own fate.
@jeffreymccready519511 ай бұрын
Thx for taking the time to reply Sam. I actually concur with your thinking on this. Self Efficacy, twinned with humility & gratitude is a much more reliable pathway, especially within a Team dynamic. Indeed I can just imagine how Zlatan would feature in the All Black rule of “No D…heads” (Legacy, 2013). You mention ‘The Chosen One’ (Mourinho). Like Zlatan, there are always exceptions to everything. But they really are few and far between. It takes a very rounded being to manage those exceptions. Keep up the great work Sam. Your willingness to personally respond is an added touch. Best, Jeff

Is god zlatans self image or his alter ego which he only uses for performances. The reason I ask is because I am trying to develop a similar complex but I am wondering whether or not it is better to use a strong god self image and then a killer alter ego version for performances OR only using one of the two for alter ego purposes?
@SamMartinPeakPerformance4 ай бұрын
playing a role/acting 100% of the time is too exhausting and not sustainable. Zlatan is deep down a very chill and relaxed guy. I would assume he just turns on the god & lion characters as his alter ego for training and performances
@nicholasfonseca2311 ай бұрын
🧠 Zlatan emphasizes the thin line between confidence and arrogance in elite sports, showcasing a mentality that challenges conventional thinking. 🏆 Zlatan's audacious belief in himself, described as "I can, I'm God," became a secret weapon contributing to his legendary success in football. 🚀 Zlatan's mind, a fortress of self-assurance, distinguishes him as a player who effectively harnessed the power of positive delusion. 🌌 Being "positively delusional" involves thinking beyond current limitations, a mindset essential for achieving elite status in any field. 💪 Zlatan's success lies not just in creating positive delusions but in aligning daily actions with those delusions, showcasing an unwavering work ethic. 😄 Zlatan's sense of humor acts as a resilient shield against negativity and doubt, making positive delusions sustainable and enjoyable. 🎭 Balancing positivity with self-awareness is crucial; Zlatan's acceptance of strengths and weaknesses ensures his positive delusions remain grounded. ⚓ Sustaining positive delusions requires a balance between bold aspirations, aligned actions, humor, and self-awareness over the years.

It's not uncommon to experience a performance gap between practice and matches. Consider focusing on mental preparation and maintaining a positive mindset during games; it can make a significant difference in bridging that gap.
