I would seriously wait until next year. That's when the big updates are coming. This is just another transition year. You don't really need to upgrade your X- its only 3 years old and in the end will feel like the same exact phone. Next year is going to be next generational leap year for Apple (smaller or completely removed notch, new battery tech, the brand new proprietary M1 chips- which have gaming desktop like performance, high refresh screen, etc).Trust me you'll regret it.

I'm getting the 12 pro max but that's because I have an iPhone 7 Plus from 4 years ago. You do not need to upgrade your XS Max. Just wait another year. More than likely next year will be the big upgrades (smaller notch, high refresh screen, new battery tech, apple's proprietary new M1 chip, etc.) I already know I'm going to be disappointed next year, but I really need a new phone. Trust me, if you buy this one, you are going to regret it big time. iPhone 13 is about to be a whole new phone.

I had not planned to upgrade this year, but AT&T made an offer I couldn't refuse, and I got my 12 Pro Max on New Year's eve. It is big, but with an OtterBox Commuter case on each phone, my wife's 8 Plus is almost as big as the 12 Pro Max, and she has no trouble with either phone.
