The koukl vs choirs debate was well conducted and moderated. I found myself thinking that it seemed like a debate between my head (Chopra) and my heart (Koukl). When Dr.Chopra spoke he made many logical valid points that stand up upon a cursory viewing. When Mr.Koukl spoke I felt a resonating message that affected me physically, a glimpse of the Truth.

I cannot seem to close the deal in person but many people benefit from my writings in the shadows. Thanks David Wood for recommending “Tactics”. I use this method of asking questions all the time online. Jesus often asked questions when people were trying to trap Him. Asking questions is a great way to identify inconsistencies in the other position, so you can help people critically reevaluate their positions.
@JillianKiwi4 жыл бұрын
I often ask questions to get "the lay of the land" ...where they're at. This is essential really so you know how to proceed. Love this information ....and that I'd already been doing this right.
@adammeade23004 жыл бұрын
Koukl is great. I think a big part of his method is reducible to humility...to patience. Sometimes, that's just a result of having engaged the fray so many times that your skin gets a bit thicker and you don't take the bait every time an arrogant skeptic insults your intelligence or character. Another part is realizing that when an atheist insults our character....they're right. By biblical standards, none of us should be invested in our own sense of righteousness (e.g. the parable of the pharisee and the publican). Just remember that this isn't an argument over who is better....but rather...it's a discussion about IDEAS.

I'm curious, how can you have enough faith to believe that we're here by accident?
@vejeke2 жыл бұрын
@@davegreene1198 😂 Just because I don't believe in Zeus doesn't mean I believe that lightning just happens. Just as you not believing in Shiva does not mean that you believe that destruction does not exist. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmGkZZKYrKiUjpI You should start by asking yourself if your concerns are genuine or the result of prejudices implanted by apologists trying to frame your perception of atheists, because it is not normal that in so few words someone can miss the mark so badly.

I’ve been accused of having no tact. I don’t know if I should evangelize. I’ll pray on the sidelines and keep learning more.
@Rachano4 жыл бұрын
When people say you have no tact, they probably mean you come off as rude or don't have a filter. While this could cause difficulty, one of the greatest advantages to Greg's Tactics is exactly this situation. The goal of what he's talking about is using questions to gently bring out the things people believe and infuse Jesus. I would really encourage you not to be afraid to evangelize, even if that just means engaging people in conversation enough to make them think. If you feel inferior in this, or like you need more help or information, I would be happy to talk about this more with you. I would love to see everyone, even non-Christians, be able to express and respond to opposition.
@Biepbiepbonk3 жыл бұрын
@@Rachano hi, this response is a bit late, but I need some help. I bought Gregory's book tactics and want to use it when evangelizing. However, my parents are non-chrisrians and my stepmom found out about the book and thinks i'm learning how to sell christianity / manipulate. She also said she saw me manipulate. While I don't want to manipulate anyone, maybe she is right. How am I supposed to go about this situation? I truly don't want to manipulate but am scared I was being manipulative or my stepmom thinks I am manipulative now
@Rachano3 жыл бұрын
@@Biepbiepbonk Sorry, I didn't see this, and the moment has probably passed... Tactics is about two things - learn what the other person is thinking, and respond to their thoughts. Some tactics can be used to make the other person feel bad, but your goal is to encourage the other person to think about their view. Manipulation happens when you are trying to make someone believe something without thinking about it, but Tactics takes someone's own view and shows them how it might be lacking. If you talk to your stepmom about this again, consider this (my own thoughts about it): "I think Christianity is the best explanation for how the world works, and this book is helping me to understand other's ideas and show them where their explanation may not be sufficient. I want everyone to know why they believe what they believe, and I'm more interested in what other people think than forcing my own view on them."

@6502Assembler3 жыл бұрын
Maybe they're just critical thinkers? I'm an atheist, it doesn't take arguments to convince me, it would just take evidence. Not mammy pammy nonsense evidence, real evidence.

Don't worry so much about knowledge of the Bible. I've been a Christian for 20 years, and I've learned you'll never know enough to answer every question or rebut every argument. Growth is more important than maturity. As long as you're not stuck in place and keep moving forward, you'll find knowledge and experience will come with time.
