Sounds interesting. My favorite insect is a caterpillar, and that would make an interesting summer fragrance: green notes, tomato leaf, some light florals. I’m in CA.

Muguet is pronounced “Moo-geh” 👍🏻 Just like Guerlain “Geh-r-lahn” [the “G-u-e” is a hard G, not a soft G (as that would be a “J” sound) lol] and there’s your French lesson for the day! 😘 My favorite insect is the honeybee; (I’m from the U.S.) Thank you for a lovely review & the chance to try Moth! All best wishes!

Yay, I just received my MOTH sample, excited! I will wait for a special moment to try it, yet I can feel already through the packaging the smoked honey and I like it! My favorite insects are Japanese beetles, they are like little green jewels, so good looking but they do not have a special smell. As to insect kingdom, the most smelly are the hawthorn shield bugs, their smell is similar to fresh coriander, but more intense. To make a fragrance about such bugs, I personally would use such notes as coriander+ geranium+ patchouli+ cedar+ carnation+ some berries (blackberries, blueberries, blackcurrant)+ (of course) animalic touch, but I know that Victor and his perfumers have much more imagination that I do have!

Haha, Dalya's look at 5:13. Love watching you guys together. You have a sort of 1930's screwball comedy vibe (think Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn). Sort of like loving adversaries. My favorite insect is the Rollie Pollie, Pillbug if you're nasty. I live in Texas.

Thank you for a golden review! I'm truly amazed by this fragrance, especially in the dry down. In this stage, and to my untrained nose, it's reminiscent of Francesca Bianchi's The Dark Side. It's a creation of art on it's own though, and my comparison does not do the scent justice.

I've tried this juice (in a tiny sample) and it is simply amazing. I need more! To me, it smells exactly like a plastic inflatable crocodile I had as a kid. I know, I know, it's weird, but it's true! It does! Anyway, my favorite insect is bumble bees, they're so big yet have such tiny wings, really incredible! My favorite Zoologist fragrance is Civet, it's so rich and heavy. And for a future release of Zoologist, I'd like to see a crocodile I think, or another kind of reptile, like a gecko perhaps? Commenting from Sweden!

I do not like insects, even moths, but this fragrance sounds really interesting, I would like to try it. I tried only Macaque, and that one is good and interesting. Next insect fragrance could be butterfly or honeybee. Thank you! I'm from Serbia.

Moth sounds like a very special juice and what interests me the most is that it develops like a story. The insect (although not technically an insect) that I think is super cute is a jumping spider. I don't particularly like honey in fragrances, but if you think of the Zoologist Perfumes as ones that describe the habitats - then a wild honey bee would be interesting to try. Hello from Scotland!

Hilarious. I always said "mujay" but called the Guerlain boutique at Bergdorf's recently. She said, "mugay." I checked in Google translate. They pronounce it "mugay." Uh oh. I was wrong all these years but I speak NO French. It also said that it means "thrush." Interesting. I always thought it meant "lily." I have not found a Zoologist that I love. I keep trying. Maybe this is the one. So far, Rhino is my fave. I like it. The rest are okay or a dislike for me. I liked the laughter and humor of this review. I'm in USA. My favorite insect is a lightning bug, and that's the one I want to see. The smell of July summer nights, ozone and rain with humidity and heat.

I'm so excited, I have been scouring fragrance reviews looking for something "goth" to wear on the proper occasion. My sample of Moth just came in today and I love it! I would love to win. My favorite insect is a bumble bee! I had one crawl onto my foot at the riverside lawn area in Austria, it was so fuzzy! 🐝 FL, USA Since zoologist has done insects, I'd love to see a canine. Or arthropod. The orange-toed tarantula would be a good one, I think. 🕷 I've also had a 3 inch moth living outside my apartment door near the handle for a week, it very pretty but creepy at the same time. 😅

I don't like insects! If I have to choose it would be a little house spider that never interacts with me and chills in a corner eating other bugs. The sinister moth from Silence of the Lambs can squeak. Meet Acherontia atropos, otherwise known as the death's-head hawkmoth. It gets its name from the sinister-looking skull shape on its back. In many cultures it is thought to be an omen of death.
@jonkomatsu81926 жыл бұрын
Wow, Moth sounds intense! The concept of the moth is a fantastic metaphor. Traditionally they represent change, often pretty dramatic: Caterpillars to ethereal, nocturnal winged creatures. They could metaphorically suggest spirits and the like. And they were sometimes associated with tragedy. I grew up with this Japanese superstition that seeing a large moth in daytime foreshadowed a potential illness or death (!). And the "Mothman" was a legendary, modern folkloric creature associated with UFOs and various tragic events in 60s West Virginia. Pretty intense stuff! Small wonder the opening is so agressive. A tiny, fluttery insect can be quite complex. The juice sounds great! I like the description of the old Victorian, Miss Havisham-like ladies contrasted with the Goth Grrrls--wow! Would adore snagging a decant. My fave insects would be bees or ladybugs. But perhaps a cricket would be a nice future release, all green and energetic in daylight, yet creating their nightly songs as we slip into nightly slumber. Imagine that mix of metaphorical scent notes! Here in Seattle, USA. Mahalos!

In the first 30 seconds of this I got Band-Aid tire fire, but then it settles to a rich, smoky spice, and finally into a thick, sweet honey floral. Just beautiful! I bought this blind so the harsh opening I thought was particularly brutal and frightening, but thankfully the overall fragrance is wearable and very enjoyable. It's a love! (Whew)

I would love to see a butterfly Zoologist that goes a totally different direction than Dragonfly, instead of being light and ethereal, it would be bright and floral with a bit more depth and lacking the ozone and rice components. Being a former goth girl, Moth is right up my alley. Please, please give me a chance with this one!!! I live in Florida where it is already very hot. I’ll do a spinoff on your question and tell you my favourite moth! death’s head hawkmoth! you may know it if you’ve seen Silence of the Lambs. I have a taxidermy one from Prague, enclosed in a glass sphere. I’ve been fascinated by it for several years after reading Silence of the Lambs. For artistic purposes, I think it would be interesting to see a perfume about ants. As with Bat, it should be soily, but it would require a touch of something else to make it interesting (and wearable). I would like to see what they would choose to do. I’m in Romania.
