very cool, thanks buddy, I'll be picking up the h1 instead of the h1n because of this review. Take care and be well!

Thinking about getting the new H1n. I have been using the H1 for years but it has been dropped many times and put in my pocket with car keys which cracked the top a little. lol It still records & sounds very well! Since I am a church, Blues & Jazz organist/keyboardist, I whip this thing out all the time for rehearsals and gigs. So with me being more careful now, a new one would look a lot better! I wish they would create a nice case for it as they did for the old H4n. The question is, instead of buying an expensive external wireless mic for my new Panasonic video cam, would the 'wired to cam' H1n work just as well? Thanks!

to use it as handy portable recorder, is it better to get the H1 because there's no dial knob at the top front? can we use any usb cable to connect to computer/laptop?

Thanks for the video. One question - why shouldn't this kind of device be used for dialogues? I am thinking of getting the device for making a podcast, which would be recorded mainly in a inside environment. Cheers

I'd say there are better mics for podcasting/dialogue recording. Condensor mics: Blue Yeti, Audio Technica AT4040 or AT2020. Dynamic mics: Rode Procraster, Heil PR40, Shure SM7B. Although you'll need an audio interface (like the Focusrite Scarlett or H6 Zoom) for most of those, I think they're much better mics for podcasting/voice overs. Personally, I think the zoom h1/n for dialogue is a bit too bright/harsh on the ears if you don't edit it. But you can totally make it sound better using EQ and if not, some people don't really notice the difference. If you work with or listen to audio recordings a lot, you'll eventually start to notice the differences.

The zoom H1 has a dry sound. The H1n is smoother. I guess it depends on what people like to get out of their voice recording. Personally, I prefer the sound of the H1n
