*Question the Episode:* If you could only visit the San Diego Zoo or Safari Park for the rest of your life... which one would you choose? I'll make a VS./VS. video one day but... I can already say it won't be very balanced. I just realized I didn't fully answer this question on my Safari Park review but I would go with the zoo no question's ask. Thinking like a casual zoo visitor, the Safari Park is good on the eyes but it is hard on the feet and it takes a lot of effort and a little it of planning to get the full experience. Which is okay, it wasn't designed to be a normal zoo. I also prefer the zoo because the grounds are more convenient, it doesn't really require planning, I don't get lost as often, it has more species diversity, and just more to see overall even though it's 1/10th the size of SP. *As a thank you to The Virtual Zoo for letting me use some of his platypus footage, check out his take on Walkabout Australia:* kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJqqm62Inb-jn8U *Make sure to also watch this!:* kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3WmZIV_q5mEmNk End Extinction San Diego: www.endextinctionsandiego.org/ SPECIES LIST AS OF MAY 2024 1. It's odd to me there are probably a lot of Australian " pet" birds in that area they could adopt. I'm surprised they don't have cockateils, budgies, zebra ,lady gouldian and so many finches and cockatoos and kookaburra... there could be so many aviaries in this area where they could take in birbs.

Fun fact according to SD local news, the head of design at the Safari Park is from Australia and pulled a lot of inspiration from her childhood visiting the Australian countryside. I think this is one of the reasons this is such an one-of-the-kind experience since many Australia exhibits or zoo exhibits in general are fantastical charactures of the real thing. Just look at Outback at the Zoo with the totems and the industrial Queenslander.

I’ve visited the San Diego Zoo many times, but I’ve only been to the Safari Park once. Since they have platypuses now and after watching this video, I’d say I want to visit the Safari Park again.

When I first saw this section when I for the first time visit the safari park on my vacation from Vegas to California I thought of it as possibly the best example of a Australian themed section that not only has a very unique design they build but also as some very extraordinary species in it. When I saw a platypus for the first time in real life in person other than from documentaries, books for other sources I felt like I’m encountering a real mythical like creature that’s out of this world and I can’t help but felt so honored and grateful to see a platypus so much so that before I left I tried to see them one last time to no avail. It really makes me wish that other zoos can take notes on adding more species from Australia and forcus more on improving oceanean themed sections other than Africa and Asia. If I were to one day have a zoo of my own , I would gladly add that as top of the list

I love both the Zoo and Safari park (I actually visited both places earlier this year in June), but if I had to choose one, I'd go with the zoo because it's far easier to navigate, and there's a lot more animals to see. However, I still enjoy the Safari Park as it has better exhibits for the animals, the jeep tours that go into the large exhibits are really fun, and the Walkabout Australia exhibit is a definite must-see.

As a San Diego native, I prefer the Zoo to the Safari Park. They’re both great, and have different charms and experiences, I just personally prefer the abundance of aviarys and reptiles that the zoo has

Very Nice job on the video especially seeing the Platypus which I was really excited to see and if I have to choose between the 2, I’m gonna go with the Zoo mainly because they have more species of animals to see, this video came out right on time because me and my friend are about to make a plan for a trip to San Diego!

I would choose the zoo over the safari park. It's less hot during the summer months, involves less walking, and shows a wider species range beyond Africa

I like the park simply because of the better animal care (bigger, better habitats)

@TreetheSmelt The zoo does have brilliant welfare, though... but I agree that the Safari Park does have the edge when it comes to the size
@TreetheSmelt3 ай бұрын
@@Raphus_2001 It does but to me some of the habitats are for a lack of a better word inadequate (the lion, jaguar, bears of all kinds, and most of the urban jungle habitats)

Last time I went to both was in 2017 for a graduation gift. I went to the zoo earlier in life (can't remember in year) and I wasn't terribly impressed with what I saw last time, it feeling like a regular zoo stretched out a little in size and pricing. The Safari Park, however, felt more worthwhile with its theming, size of the exhibits, and the African Outpost giving me the most peace of mind than I've ever felt to this day... I'd go with the Safari Park (especially seeing the tree kangaroo portion!).

Heard about that new exhibit! Wish they added dingoes, wombats, wedge-tailed eagles, & echidnas on it? And visit the San Francisco Zoo someday, Zak! Also, here are 4 zoo trivia questions for you & your girlfriend..... 1) How many years ago did the San Francisco Zoo originally house both harbor seals & elephant seals? 2) What years did the Steinhart Aquarium at the California Academy Of Sciences once have a koi fish tank? 3) Besides reef sharks, what other shark species did the Steinhart Aquarium recently house a long time ago? 4) What year did the Los Angeles Zoo have welcomed 2 binturongs? P.S: The San Diego Zoo is the coolest, alongside the San Diego Zoo Safari Park! In fact, I imagine myself, having a stable part-time job at the San Diego Zoo there as an animal ambassador expert!🐨

I’m about to seem like the worlds biggest zoology-ornithology nerd right now… 😆 But did you catch your own pun by chance, at 0:32 when you’re showing the dwarf cassowary, and you say "what the HECK is that?" …another name for the southern dwarf cassowary is-or at least was-Heck's dwarf cassowary. _Casuarius bennetti hecki_ named after two people apparently, Bennett and Heck. 🤣
