Well it's not just 2 personalities Here, please read this for more clarification. this is a proof that bb is not him but *THEM* as Zoro referred to him in Jaya. These are proofs from manga.... In chapter 223, 225, 236, 440 He has three missing teeths (two on top and one on bottom) In chapter 543 he has 4 missing teeths (2 on top and two on bottom) Many may say that he might have just lost one but then.... *in chapter 578 he again has 3 missing teeths (two on top and one on bottom) and then the best one is* IN CHAPTER 579, IN FIRST PANEL HE HAS 3 MISSING TEETHS AND *IN THE THIRD PANEL (page) OF THE SAME CHAPTER HE HAS A SET OF ALL THE TEETHS, A FULL SET OF 32 TEETHS!!* how can a person grow three missing teeths in just a few seconds in between a fight? Yes this chapter was of Marineford where bb was literally fight WB head to head so anyone who's gonna say the *MILK* thing then, sorry, you can't. And moreover *IN THE SAME CHAPTER AGAIN A FEW PANELS LATER HE AGAIN HAD 3 MISSING TEETHS* the same goes for the rings in his hands, one moment he is wearing 5 rings and just a few seconds later, all the rings are gone. And in chapter 581 again he has no missing teeths in one of the panel. this heavily implies that BB is not just switching personalities but he's freakin *SWITCHING BODIES*. So a more accurate translation of the scene is: "Its not that person over there" "Its those people over there" which hey is close but when I read this I interpreted it as "Its not just that one dude who is trouble, Its pirates with ambition equal to ours/standing in our way" as in yeah he probably does know something about Sky Island but that's just how it's gonna be from there on out. They're then going to encounter guys who are like Blackbeard, obstacles that know more and are equally ambitious. He's referring to his crew. The question that's tackled in Jaya is "what does it mean to be a real pirate?" Luffy refuses to fight back against Bellamy because he can't take him seriously as a threat or as a fellow pirate. However, when he hears Blackbeard's speech about dreams as they're being dragged out of the bar, he gets back to his feet immediately, briefly remembers Ace and Shanks' words, and gives him a menacing stare that we rarely ever see from Luffy. I believe, to juxtapose the prior scene, that look along with the "it's not him. It's them" line is him acknowledging, based solely on his ambition, that this man he just met is not only a pirate, but a pirate whose ambition may rival even his own

I don't like how observation haki seems to be lumped into "instincts" in general. This particular instance could be both, but they are not the same thing. I say this in general, but now I remember how Luffy spotted the real Mr. 3 on Little Garden on instinct, alone. I think it was even the name of the chapter. I do not believe that Luffy used any haki in that instance, and it was simply, well, instinct. I mean... WE have instinct irl, but not haki. It stands to reason that haki is separate, though there can be overlap. On that note, Teech's introduction is great. I was always struck by the 2 different bottles on his belt. His design draws attention to them, and I believe they're different colors when colored in, further emphasizing them. They seem to be implying that he's carrying a preferred type of beer for 2 different people... and it's not in his character to carry them around for his crew for their sake, as he only views them as tools. The theory of him having 2 souls/spirits/consciencenesses within him is very solid, and is all but guaranteed at this point.

I also thought the same as one of your co-hosts. The “them” pronoun was in reference to Blackbeards crew but after the most recent chapters I don’t know anymore. Oda might have just confirmed devil fruits having souls. At some point before White Beard or maybe after taking the logia fruit from his ship Teach awakened his devilfruit. Explains the multiple personalities as he literally is two people after that. Looking back at that scene recently the stare down between Luffy and Teach was definitely haki. Not observation but conquerors. Teach was having a test of wills with Luffy.

Also look up chimerism when a female has two fertilized eggs and the two eggs fuse causing the baby to have 2 different DNA and it causes their stomach to get bloated. We all agree Oda don’t make mistakes. Look up Blackbeards speech to Luffy. When he’s happy at the bar and talking about dreams he has 4 missing teeth. When he directly talks to Luffy in the street he has 3 missing teeth. As he’s walking away one of his teeth is partially going away. inside the bar Luffy had his interaction with BB but as soon as he saw him outside, thoughts of Ace and Shanks came to Luffys mind. I don't necessarily think that was haki, but they both (Zoro & Luffy) sensed a difference between inside and outside BB. also, regarding Nami's question to ask BB for directions to the sky island, if they don't wanna ask him anything, then it makes NO sense at all to let her know he probably has crewmates cause that had nothing to do with Nami's question. everyone knows pirates have crewmembers, that's why its so noticeable that Mihawk doesn't, cause he is the "exception to the rule". so why would BB having his crew with him be a deterrant for them to ask him for directions? people really think Luffy and Zoro didn't want to ask for directions just cause BB's crew might be with him? not a fight, just directions. why would that be a reason not to do so? but having a bad ominous feeling about BB since they felt a different vibe outside the bar than inside, that's why they didn't ask him anything.

Oda always do the exact opposite of people's expectations. Example: Raftel is actually Laugh Tale, Luffy's Devil Fruit, Ace's death, and etc. People expect Blackbeard to eat another Zoan fruit (Kaido's), when in fact, Oda probably made Blackbeard eaten a Zoan fruit prior to joining Whiitebeard. My guess is it's a Mythical Hippo because a hippo has three stomachs for three devil fruits, it would also explain his body and teeth look like a hippo's, third is in an SBS, Oda described animals to each OP characters and Blackbeard's is a Hippo and lastly, in a chapter where Blackbeard is introduced, there is a Hippo on the cover page Another guess is he already ate the mythical Kraken fruit. An octopus has three hearts, one for each fruit, if you look at his flag it has 3 skulls and 8 bones that look like an octopus, and Blackbeard in Pirates of the Carribean is an Octopus

Thats why Luffy and Zoro said "them" because they have enough skill to tell they werent the same person just twins...well triplets. In the manga the hint is in the teeth, but the anime has the teeth the same all the time.

Yo, i got a logical theory, there is alot of dragon fruits we dont know exist yet, maybe blackbeard has a totally different devil fruit that allows him to absorb other dragon fruit users somehow and be able to use their powers still, when zoro and luffy referred to theach as they, he already absorbed thatch, when whitebeard had his fruit stolen we never seen how the fruit was taken from white beard. Blackbeard killed thatch for the fruit. He wanted multiple souls for the usage of multiple devil fruits. He used the dark dark fruit to contain the spirit of thatch. He must've done the same with whiteboard. luffy heard thatch using the voice of all things communication and zoro felt thatch's rhythm.
